I really don't know what makes this cookbok particularly appropriate for children, because while the food photography is masterful and the recipes cover a variety of easier and more complex classic French dishes , neither the choice of recipes, directions or photography reflect that the target audience is a younger readership.

Having said that, if you've been curious about French cuisine and would like to explore through simple but thorough recipes that also show how they're meant to look, search no further.

Delicious recipes that are easy and family friendly. The recipes are organized by sauces, breads, main dishes, and desserts with great background information and instructions. I cannot wait to try some of these out with my niece when she gets a little older.

While I work in the US, I have a lot of French colleagues and occasionally get to go to our French offices. I was excited to try out this book, as my kids are super into cooking right now, and French recipes are relevant to their lives right now since I have so many French colleagues. I like that these recipes are mostly one and two star difficulty, with only 3 three-star difficulty recipes. I am not a good cook on a normal day, but I think these recipes are easy enough for me to cook with my kids and still have a good time with them while we are both learning the French techniques. I like that this cookbook starts with some of the basics, like the typical herbs used in French cuisine, herb blends, and the five mother sauces used in many French recipes. I can't wait to cook my way through this cookbook with my kids as we both learn about another culture.

I was skeptical about finding many recipes in this book that we would like to try but i was pleasantly surprised. I have some recipes to try with the kids, including an easy yogurt cake. I'm even considering mking cheese puffs!

Of course there's more dairy than is ideka for my digestion but considering this is a French cookbook, that is exctly what I expected.

This book is definitely one for kids who are older than mine (5 and 2) with expanded pallets. Mine currently stick to their favourite 3 meals, so while they enjoyed looking at the recipes, they were not interested in actually trying any. This book has a fantastic amount of information on cooking techniques and preparation. Definitely one to get for kids who have an interest in cooking and at expanding their skill set. The images are very clearly shot and the food looks delicious. I'm hoping that in the future we may have more interest in trying them, once they're out of their picky eating phase. We read this ebook through NetGalley.

C’est magnifiqué! Barbara Beery has, indeed, done a magnificent job with this French cookbook for kiddos helping make French cuisine more fun and accessible. My Francophile daughter and I are having a great time exploring these recipes. Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC!

This cookbook is definitely for the kid who loves all things French. It's such a fun, kid-friendly cookbook. A few of the recipes are probably not things the typical kid would love to dive into, but are for a more established palette, but it does do a nice job of making them a. lot simpler to make and the recipes easier to understand. The recipes we tried, my family really liked!

Beginner cookbook that, in my opinion, isn't just for kids. Great layout, delicious recipes, and attractive layout.

This is a very fun and kid friendly cook book with simple to follow instructions and appetising recipes. It also contains wonderful photos, always essential for me as I read with my eyes!

Mouthwatering photos and straightforward recipes make this a great French cookbook for aspiring chefs. While it is accessible to all ages, I wouldn't consider this specifically a kids cookbook. Instructions are generally easy to follow and descriptive, but I wouldn't select this as a first cookbook, I think this would be more appropriate for someone who has at least a basic understanding of their way around the kitchen. I'd also acknowledge that not every kid would eat every recipe in here - though I know my son would jump for many of them! Looking forward to testing some of these out and learning more about French cooking.

Author Barbara Beery founded Foodie Kids Culinary Center, so this cookbook is definitely aimed at children; however, any cook, of any age, would adore this entrée into French cuisine. From a bouquet garni to the five French mother sauces to appetizers (including Ham and Cheese Palmiers and French Cheese Puffs) to all of the classic French soups to main dishes (including Gruyère Soufflés, Chicken Cordon Bleu and assorted crepes) to salads and vegetables to desserts and beverages. (French Hot Chocolate, anyone?)

Some of the recipes would require assistance for a tween or younger, and a few are really out of the question. (Who is going to make baguettes, Parisian Macarons or Petit Fours at home? Even the French buy them at the boulangerie and the patisserie!) That said, cooks from 8 to 88 will treasure this cookbook.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Familius in exchange for an honest review.

I would not limit this book to children. In fact, I’d recommend gifting it to adults with an interest in French cooking, because adults deserve recipe books with pictures too. And what beautiful pictures they are!

If given to a child, however, most (if not all) of these recipes should be prepared with adult supervision. No child should be wielding a blowtorch to caramelize their own crème brûlée.

The recipes are easy to follow and well organized, everything I look for in a cookbook. I especially appreciate that it begins with the fundamentals of French cooking and builds from there.

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a kids cookbook but it isn’t dumbed down for kids in any kind of way! The recipes are complex but not necessarily hard. (Each recipes is rated by difficulty level) I was very impressed with this book.

As a beginner cook, I really appreciated the Difficulty ratings listed throughout this book. There is something for everyone and every level but the recipes look easy to follow. I also appreciated the variety of dishes, it really covers all meals and some snacks!

"Ooh La La! Kids Cook French" is a book that really surprised me. It has so many recipes (I expected 10 at most), and even though they look a bit difficult, the steps are short and easy to follow. You might think you won't like it if you're not a fan of French food, but it's okay because the book offers so much more than that.

The book is split into different sections, each with its own recipes:
- The Basics: Herbs and Sauces (11 recipes)
- Appetizers (8 recipes)
- Soups (7 recipes)
- Main Courses (11 recipes)
- Salads and Vinaigrettes (8 recipes)
- Breads (5 recipes)
- Pastries and Desserts (19 recipes) <- This one is my favourite, obviously 😋
- Drinks (2 recipes)

Every recipe is complete with ingredients, the difficulty level, the steps, and a picture of the finished dish.
I can't wait to try some of these recipes!!! I've already written down my favorites...

The number of times that I "ooo"d and "aaahhh". Almost every dish looked simply delicious; excellent pictures. Directions to each recipe didn't seem to hard to follow and I will be trying several of the dishes.

French food has a reputation for being the best food in the world. So why not learn to cook traditional French food? Kids also need to learn to cook, and that said, it would also be nice for them to learn to cook French. Ooh La La! Kids Cook French, is an excellent cookbook that will act as a primer for children to learn how to cook French food. However, this cookbook is also great for teaching adults how to cook French. While this book doesn’t include lots of varied dishes, it does include many basics that will be valuable to anyone who likes to cook and wants to improve their skills.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-instructions. They are easy to follow for anyone, beginning cooks, advanced cooks, and older children. The recipes are for basics, including sauces, herbs, and well-known dishes that are fairly easy to make. While things are easy to understand, the prose doesn’t seem to be geared to kids; they will need to go over the recipes with an adult.

Each of the recipes is accompanied by beautiful photographs that will appeal to both children and adults; there are definitely dishes that look mouthwatering, and will appeal to both children and adults.

All told, this is a good cookbook with easy recipes to prepare. It’s a good one to have on the shelf and has plenty of appealing dishes.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.

I actually don't know how to rate this. Giving it five stars because it is an amazing cookbook, but it really isn't what I would consider a kids' cookbook. How many children want a recipe for mussels? Cream puffs and a French chocolate cake, yes. But a kids' cookbook should be cute, easier recipes. Not to say these recipes are super complex, but still.

It is so gorgeous, though. Love the layout, and there are so many amazing recipes in here, that I couldn't not give it a five star.

Would recommend this for sure.

Wow, I love how simple and sleek this cookbook is. Not too fussy and pictures with every recipe. They show a level of difficulty next to the recipe. They even use a premade puff pastry in a recipe which I appreciate. They show you how to make croissants, I am so excited to try this one with my daughter. I like how the author explains why not to use a certain ingredient. Even tells how to make creme fraiche. I see that in a lot of overseas cooking shows.

Definitely will be buying for the library and my daughter. Thanks for allowing me look at this cookbook!
