I absolutely loved this series.
The charters are well written and I have enjoyed the plot lines of the series so far. This wasn't my favorite book in the series but I did enjoy it.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC and all options are my own.

That was an epic adventure 😊❤️
The 3rd book from the world of 'Legends and Lattes' was very surprising in my opinion. We follow Fern, the book seller from Book 2 as she tries to find her purpose. Much more of an emotional journey than the previous books. Fern has been feeling dissatisfied in her life goes on a journey of self discovery. We meet a bunch of new characters and as always everyone is adorable. ❤️
I would not say that this book was a gigantic break from the previous two books but it definitely has a different vibe to it. I think something I really enjoyed with the first two books were the setting up or fixing of the shops. The cozy and chill vibes of the plot with some adventure sprinkled in. This book had more action but for me still retained that cozy fantasy vibes, mostly through amazing character dialogue and setting.
We also do not have a fixed location in this book. As Fern travels we get to learn more about the world that our characters live in. We discover different towns and meet other characters. It was an amazing adventure and I truly enjoyed reading this book just as much as the previous two.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC read. This review was written voluntarily.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy fantasy reads. If you want to jump into this series I would advise starting with book 1 & 2 respectively. (I think that's important to note as I've noticed other cozy fantasy series are easier to pick up wherever). This isn't really a series you can read out of order.....I mean you could but you won't have a firm grasp of the characters ❤️

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Another sweet, quick and cozy read! I really enjoyed the first one and was happy to see there would be a second!

While I didn't quite enjoy this addition to the series as much as the previous two installments, I had a lot of fun back in Baldree's world. Through this story we have an unsatisfied Fern who just wants to feel passionate about something again. I think that is a feeling a lot of people can relate to and understand wanting to (unintentionally) run away from your life and dive head first into an adventure. I found our new cast of characters to be distinct, even if I was a bit tired of our breadknife but the end. Baldree is a mage with words and is always able to make a reader feel cozy despite the trials that our characters might face. He also is a wonder at reading his story, I'm always impressed with his accent range!

This was exactly what I expected it was going to be.
This story was cozy and enchanting. I loved the main character Fern and her foul mouth. My kind of character! The author narrates the story himself, and it was superb! The way he brings each character to life is amazing. I can't wait to continue this series and see where the story takes us.
I will say I did not do my research and realize that reading the prequel "Bookshops & Bonedust" would have enhanced my experience. But that is totally on me.
I still enjoyed this story and the audio was great!
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan audio for an opportunity to listen to the audiobook of Brigands and Breadknives.

While I really enjoyed this, I liked the previous books much better. I know some people have said the other books are a bit boring and they're all vibes and no plot but that's what I liked about them! And I don't mean to complain, I'm sure the author is just trying to take that feedback in stride and clearly you can never make everyone happy. I think I was just caught off guard because there was a ton of action in this book and I truly was not emotionally prepared for it.
What I loved about this book though is that it was narrated by the author and damn, he's really good! I'm always saying I love a narrator who does all the voices and we got A LOT of voices, I think Breadley's voice was my favorite, it was so funny. (Sorry if I'm not spelling Breadley right, the only disadvantage to an audiobook is not knowing how everyone's name is spelled.) I love when an author narrates their own book(s) because obviously the author is going to know the intentions and inflections they meant when they wrote the book so that's always my preference when it's available to me.
And to be fair, I still think this was a good book even if I complained there was tOo MuCh PlOt. I like that featuring older characters is starting to become more popularized and I think it's pretty normal to have a midlife crisis of sorts and not know what you want to be when you grow up, at any age. Also, I was not expecting a talking sword and I was delighted that's what we got, how fun is that?
I also am planning a reread when this publishes, I think my outlook could be more favorable upon a reread now that I know what I should expect.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for a free audiobook in exchange for an honest opinion.

I will never tire of Legends & Lattes stories.
Travis Baldree has created a vibrant, cozy, home-like world that has completely taken over my heart. I love this world, I love these characters, and I love the comfortable adventures that these books take me on.
Fern is just so cute. I love her chaotic, anxious nature and her deeply caring heart.
The best part of this audiobook is that Travis is the narrator—he breaths light into these stories in the way only an author could.
Every Legends & Lattes book will be an automatic buy for me, every time.

✨ Thank you, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley, for this ALC. All thoughts are my own. ✨

Travis Baldree has once again woven an enchanting tale full of heart and comfort, this time in the form of a ratkin who chooses to abandon the life she's known for the unexpected and unpredictable. Another amazing installment in the Legends & Lattes universe!
This was such a fun read with intriguing characters and hidden mysteries, and all the wholesome moments you've come to expect from a Baldree novel.

a surprising amount of swearwords for such a cozy fantasy! who doesn't love Fern from Bookshops & Bonedust?! this is a story all about her! this is more adventure than the first two, but there were still a lot of delightfully cozy scenes, and a fantastic expansion into the world we so love, with all new characters your going to love! i think this is my favorite one so far! the whole 'midlife crises' vibe of the book, the character growth, the talking swords, i started the audiobook and actually sulked when i had to put it down for any reason. i loved Ferm from the moment i met her, and watching her get to go on her own journey, with a very famous adventurer at that? it was amazing. i loved every second i got to spend with these characters, and I'm already desperately hoping for more. i was so upset when the book ended, because it meant no more book. no more adventure. just means i'll have to listen to it again.
Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this ARC

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for an opportunity to listen to the audiobook of Brigands and Breadknives.
I knew there was little to no chance that I wouldn’t like Brigands and Breadknives, but I will admit I wasn’t overly excited about this new installment featuring Fern as the main protagonist. However, I was completely wrong. This ended up being my favorite yet.
I think what sets this one apart is that is set primarily on the road as opposed to in one place like the previous novels. A delightful gang of characters accompany Fern in her voyage. My favorite being their goblin captive and sentient bread knife.
As always, I’m sure these book are still great in print, but Travis Baldree’s narration shouldn’t be missed.

Brigands and Breadknives is a worthy sequel to the previous installments in this series. It deviates from both Legends and Bookshops in that things are far less sedentary this time around. Those that found the previous installments a bit dull, are more likely to enjoy Brigands as it is a quest book. Rather than starting up a cafe or fixing up a bookshop, we follow Fern as she tags along with an adventurer elf working to claim a bounty.
This book is still very cozy, but the pace is decidedly more adventurous. I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, but I am glad that Baldree took this book in a different direction in terms of both setting and pace. I think that readers that were looking for a slightly less cozy fantasy from the first books, will really enjoy this third book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The definition of cozy fantasy. This book expands on the world of Legends & Lattes and there isn’t as much Viv as I had expected (because I saw the ALC and requested it immediately without reading the description), but I loved tagging along for Fern’s journey. These characters are so special, as is this whole world created and brought to life by Travis Baldree. Fern is having second thoughts about what she really wants out of life and after drinking too much winds up on a quest with a legendary elf to deliver a bounty in the form of a highly entertaining goblin. This book was fun and heartwarming like the rest of the series, but if you wanted more action from the other stories, definitely give this one a chance!
I highly recommend the reading order as the publication order of Legend & Lattes, Bookshops & Bonedust, then Brigands & Breadknives. And if you enjoy audiobooks or want to try one, this series is fantastically narrated by the author.
Thank you to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC!

Continuing the high fantasy, low stakes stories, Travis Baldree’s third book involves something near and dear to my heart—career anxieties.
Fern is given a huge opportunity when she’s able to run the bookstore across from Legends & Lattes
Only as time goes on, she gets in her feelings and questions if this is all life has to offer. After a drunken night, Fern accidentally stows away on a legendary warrior’s wagon and after goes on a bit of a rollicking roadtrip adventure.
Here things diverge from Legends and Lattes quite a bit and I will say, it’s also where the story started to lose me. Perhaps it was because I was expecting cozy, and this felt a little more traditional fantasy.
I didn't feel as tied into Fern’s emotional theme as I wanted to. I wanted to explore those feelings of disliking one’s job and career changes but I feel like it kind of takes a sideline to the action. I also just didn’t connect with any of characters as much as I did to Vin or Tandry.
While I didn’t enjoy this as much as Legends and Lattes, I think this maintains a lot of the charm Baldree’s reputation brings. Whether it’s the talking breadknife named Breadley or a sarcastic goblin, this always maintained an element of heart.

I’m so glad Fern got her own story! This was a really fun travel adventure with delightful characters.
Somehow, this was my first audiobook with Travis Baldree as the narrator, and oh man, I would listen to tax documents if he was reading them. Between his beautiful prose and perfect storytelling voice, this book was just a joy.

This story was lovely, cute, funny, and exactly what we’ve come to know, love, and expect from the Legends & Lattes Universe, but it’s definitely my least favorite in the series. I’m not sure if it was a “right book, wrong time” kind of thing, but this one didn’t do it for me as much.
I think I would have enjoyed the story more if I read it digitally or in print, as opposed to the audiobook. Travis Baldree is an incredible storyteller, and I can’t think of anyone more appropriate to narrate his story, but something about his performance didn’t click in my brain. It’s a beautifully produced audiobook, and Baldree has amazing skills doing all of the character voices, but it just wasn’t for me.
I’d definitely recommend Brigands & Breadknives to folks who love a cozy, quirky, and adventurous fantasy story. Fern is a little spitfire of a protagonist, and I think a lot of folks will enjoy her foul-mouthed zany personality as she accidentally embarks on her first adventure. I’m thankful to Macmillan Audio for the free ALC. 2.5/5⭐️

I was gifted an audiobook ARC of this book through Netgalley. I voluntarily read it and am leaving an honest review.
I always love escaping into this world. I loved this adventure. Getting to see old friends and meet new ones was amazing. The narration was fantastic, as usual. I highly recommend the audiobook as narrated by the author.

Brigands and Breadknives, the latest in the Legends and Lattes series by Travis Baldree, is surprisingly even more fun and enjoyable than the previous two. This Cozy Fantasy follows Fern from Bookshops and Bonedust on an adventurous journey quest with the heroine she has always admired. Baldry continues to give us more quirky adorable side characters to fall in love with. I don’t know how he continues to outdo himself with each book. His narrations are, of course, some of the best there are and worth choosing the audiobook for. This installment has almost no romance. Romance takes a very far backseat to all the other adventure and story happening. And that works very well for this book.

This is a great rollicking tome of fiction … swords, fantasy, and all wrapped up in a rather cozy and even amusing tale! Baldree has done it again! Sadly, I missed Bookshops and Bonedust, the second instalment in the series, but will make a point of hunting it down now.
Fern, the endearing rattkin bookseller (with a mouth to make a sailor blush), is accidentally swept up in an adventure after an extremely drunken night. She finds herself travelling with a legendary Elven warrior and her sentient sword, Nigel. Zil, is the Elf’s goblin prisoner, whose native tongue is most definitely unintelligible. Zil has a coat of bottomless pockets, within which is a sentient breadknife, and numerous other fascinating items.
Adventure abounds as the trio journey along, and as tends to happen when strangers spend time together, a friendship begins to build.
This is a wonderful cozy tale for those who love sword and sorcery genre of adventure and don’t mind Fern and Zil’s expletives (which can be quite hilarious).
I quite enjoyed the audiobook, read by the author himself, and managed to scare a couple of innocent shoppers at a store when I burst into laughter for no apparent reason. If they only knew…
Do yourself a favour and INDULGE!

I have read both previous novels in this series and was a big fan. They weren't super complex books, but fun, cozy books that just were enjoyable. The characters were well developed and the storyline was very fun. I was coming into this novel with the same mindset, excited to get something really cozy. Unfortunately, this book just didn't quite do it for me. I did enjoy portions of the story. I thought there was some great moments. The characters had their moments, but in general it just didn't do it for me like the previous two books. Maybe just in a different mindset this time around or higher expectations. All that being said, its fun. and I wouldn't discourage it, but in that same mindset, it isn't something i am singing at the top of the mountain about.
Thank you to Travis Baldree, Tor Books, and NetGalley for providing me an advanced reading copy.

Fern, a rattkin of 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒔 & 𝑩𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕 and her pet griffit, Potroast, move to Thune to open a bookshop next door to Viv’s coffee shop. Fern ends up, accidentally, on quite an adventure with a legendary elf warrior, Asterix One-Ear, and a goblin, Zyll, from the wonderful short story 𝑮𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒔 & 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒕𝒔. This is available for free download by Subterranean Press! Go read it now!
I was prepared to dive back into another Viv novel, but I was pleasantly surprised to get this pretty much standalone about Fern. You should definitely read the other three books first, too familiarize and fall in love with the characters.
Travis Baldree does a fantastic narration on the audiobook, and I so enjoyed listening to him.
Can't wait for more Viv and Fern!
