This was a fun filled, suspenseful space adventure for all fans of space travel both young and old alike- with a cliffhanger than has me intrigued for the second installment.
In the story young schoolgirl Emily stumbles upon a robotic alien and his ship after he crashes in a mound of dirt not far from the area of her annual school camp. Zippy the alien becomes fast friends with Emily, her friend Theo and her grandad and whilst they help him recalibrate his settings and repair his ship, Emily decides to become his co-pilot and accompany him to his journey back to his home planet of Sparkon.
However, Emily is in for a surprise once they arrive at Sparkon as they are being watched by a few creatures of unknown origin.... with less than stellar intentions.
Thankyou to Net galley and Oliver Lendon for an ARC of this enjoyable, fun middle grade book.

I have fond memories of checking out, one by one, a book about each planet from the school library in second grade. This book about a girl and her robot friend going on an adventure would have made me very happy as a kid. It's a cute, fun read for elementary school kids reading chapter books. However, I thought the ending was abrupt. Even in a series you want each book to stand on its own and feel satisfied by the ending. There are too many unanswered questions about Zippy and Sparkon. This cliffhanger seems too extreme for this age group. By the time the next book rolls around they will have forgotten all about it. As an adult, I 'm curious enough to keep an eye out for The Secrets of Sparkon.

Blast Off with Emily & Zippy - Stardust, Sass, and Serious Girl Power
Emily’s Cosmic Journey – The Star Chaser is the kind of out-of-this-world adventure I wish I had as a kid—robots, space missions, and a brave girl with grit? Yes, please!

Emily’s Cosmic Journey – The Star Chaser is a fun, fast-paced adventure that blends sci-fi with a lot of heart. Ten-year-old Emily’s discovery of a robot named Zippy in the forest kicks off a story that’s equal parts space quest and emotional journey, with themes of courage, friendship, and curiosity throughout. I loved how it captured that feeling of wonder we all had as kids—like anything was possible just beyond the treetops. This book was a total joy to read and made me smile more than once.

Okay, this is the kind of book that makes you want to grab a flashlight, build a spaceship out of couch cushions, and yell “blast off!” like you mean it. Emily and her robot buddy Zippy had me grinning, gasping, and rooting for them the whole way—because YES to girls who chase stars and YES to robots with secrets! If you love spacey stuff, cool missions, or just a feel-good ride, this one’s a rocket-fueled win.

Super cute chaper book for kids reading at a higher level. This book has the adventure they want along with the gripping story to keep them in.

A great little chapter book for your late elementary/early middle school reader who has a heart for adventure and exploration. This oen is especially good for those kiddos who love all things space. Inspired by the author's little daughter, this one is sure to be a hit with your explorer.
