An interesting book from Bernstein, who always delivers, but not my favourite of his works.

(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

For six close friends, a weekend away turns deadly when their vehicle skids off the road and crashes in a remote part of the Adirondack Mountains.
In the direct path of a blizzard, they are hurt, cold and scared, wondering if they’ll make it through the night. But the group’s luck seemingly changes when they take refuge in a small cabin.
Their plan is simple: wait for the storm to pass. But there is something else out there that has its own plans for them.
Invade. Reveal secrets. Invoke madness. Make enemies out of friends. Create chaos. And shed blood.

*2.5 stars*

The distinct impression I got from this horror novel was that I was reading a script from all those 80's horror films - a group of people get stranded in the woods/snow/lake...find shelter in a what seems to be a too-good-to-be-true scenario...something supernatural lurks just around the corner...

You know, those movies where you yell at the screen "BEHIND YOU!!!!" (but they never listen cos they are idiots.)

If I wanted this kind of story, I would re-watch Halloween.

Disappointed to say the least...
