I re.ceived this ARC on Netgalley with no expectations of a positive review. WOW! This book is action packed, suspenseful and enjoyable from the first page. Meg and Todd went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. They never expected to stumble on a trafficking ring. Cutting their honeymoon short, Meg and Todd become involved with the investigation. This book has so many twists and turns that you never see coming. This is a must read for all suspense fans

We are back with Meg and Todd, and of course Hawk, in Deadly Trade. This time, Meg, Todd, and Hawk are on their honeymoon in Hawaii relaxing for two weeks. They are hiking on the Big Island when they experience an earthquake. If that isn’t unsettling enough, Hawk leads them to some rare bird traffickers. The honeymoon is interrupted as they get involved tracking down the dangerous poachers. Brian and Lacey arrive to assist, along with McCord (they can’t get along without his invaluable investigative skills). They are joined by a local FBI agent and an agent from the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The intensity and suspense ratchets up when nature adds to the urgency of the case with more earthquakes leading to a volcanic eruption. I was hooked from the beginning and as usual, had a hard time putting the book down. This is another wonderful book in Sara Driscoll’s FBI K-9 series.

WOW! Meg and Todd are married and on their honeymoon in Hawaii. Of course Hawk is with them. Time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
While hiking in the wilderness Meg and Todd stumble across rare bird poachers as well as an active volcano ready to erupt.
They have come upon an illegal trafficking ring smuggling rare birds to buyers that are wealthy.
There goes the romantic honeymoon as they start to investigate.
I got pulled in to the danger that was lurking. Fast paced and had me on the edge from start to finish.
Thank you NetGalley, Kensington Publishers and Sara Driscoll for the opportunity to read this book.

I’m late to the party as I started with book 7 in this series. I have enjoyed every one that I have read.
Amazing circumstances for a honeymoon caper. Meg and Todd are on their honeymoon and stumble across a poaching operation on the Big Island. Brian & Lacy, McCord, Fish & Game and other FBI are called in.
This isa tense suspense novel. Keeping me on my toes the entire time. I could feel the characters’ weariness as the days progressed.
Another knock out novel by Sara Driscoll.
I was given an ARC and these are my opinions.

Deadly Trade takes us on an intriguing and intense trip into the rain forested volcano lands of the big island of Hawaii. At times, the threat posed by possible natural disaster was greater than that posed by the wildlife traffickers, but always the way was paved by engrossing and detailed descriptions of the area and the real threat of those intent on capturing endangered birds for financial gain. It was both intense and terrifying, interspersed with information about the endangered bird species of Hawaii and the earthquake and volcano possibilities that are ever present. It was a fascinating and nail-biting adventure as Meg and Todd’s honeymoon was interrupted when they stumbled on nefarious activity. Hawk was only too ready to get back to tracking the bad guys! As always with their endeavors, I found this book hard to put down.

“Deadly Trade” by Sara Driscoll is an intense, fast-paced addition to the FBI K_9 series. Meg and Tod are on their honeymoon, ( with Hawk), in Hawaii. Two weeks to enjoy each other and the beautiful island---much needed relaxation after the last rescue in Colorado. While hiking one of the active volcano islands the pair run across two bird traffickers in a protected area---with endangered birds in their net. Called away from their honeymoon tp hunt these men, Meg, Tod, and Hawk are in a race against time. The tension increases with every tremor from the volcano.
I particularly enjoy the explanations and extra information about the birds, trafficking, and especially about the volcano. I have read every book since the beginning and loved each one. The assorted characters and the dogs are joined by a beautiful and dangerous setting, adding to the tension and urgency in the storyline. I loved every minute!

In Sara Driscoll's latest FBI K-9 Novel, Deadly Trade (Kensington Books 2025), FBI K-9 handler Meg Jennings stumbles onto a ring of thieves trafficking birds from Hawaii while she and new husband Todd are on their honeymoon. They turn the information over to local law enforcement, but are persuaded to remain involved, help track down the criminals with the special skills of her tracking dog, Hawk, and the rest of Meg's FBI Forensic Canine Unit. The problem is figuring out where these poachers will strike next on the many Hawaiian islands with their amazing natural wildlife. For that, they call in Meg's sister's boyfriend, an investigative journalist with the Washington Post. The task includes a time clock because one of the Hawaiian Islands' many active volcanoes is well behind its next predicted eruption and seems to be rumbling to life.
Not only is there lots of action in this story, between chasing wildlife traffickers, outracing a volcanic eruption, and outsmarting the earthquakes that precede it, the poachers are serious enough about their thefts to include killing those that would stop them in their skillset. The action was fast, unpredictable, with lots of information about rare animals and volcanic eruptions for those who read to learn.

If you have not read any of this series and love K-9 mysteries, this needs to be added to your TBR! At the beginning of each chapter the author tells a little fact about something in the book. I find these very interesting and also wonder how they will connect to the end of the story (because they always do).
In the beautiful state of Hawaii, Meg is pulled from her honeymoon into a hunt to stop the trafficking of exotic birds. I love the way the author writes the story and also explains the technical aspects in an easy to understand way. This is a highly enjoyable read!

The thing I liked least about this book was that it was too short. I wanted MORE. More dogs. More tension. More paradise, please. I did not want it to end!
Meg and Todd are on their honeymoon in Hawaii when they happen upon wildlife poachers. Immediately, the race is on!
I'm a devoted fan of this series, which just keeps on getting better. This volume could probably be read as a standalone, but it helps to have read others to know the background events to which they refer. Four stars.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for making this ARC available.

Meg, Todd and Hawk head to Hawaii for their honeymoon promising no work and all play. That works until they come upon bird poachers on the mountain. Once that happens Meg’s partner and his K-9 come to Hawaii to work the case with the locals. Lots of hiking in the mountains while the volcano is also becoming active. Looks like it’s an all work, no play honeymoon.

I’ve avidly read books since I was a preteen. As I grew older, I migrated to mysteries and thrillers and particularly serials where you have continuing main characters that you grow to admire. It also helps that the FBI K-9 series has lovable, smart and talented dogs.
In this 10th entry into the series, Meg and Todd are on their honeymoon, with Meg’s canine partner, Hawk, accompanying them. During the second week of the honeymoon, they decided to take Hawk on a training session by hiking into protected federally protected land in a tropical rain forest. What could possibly go wrong????
The answer to that is anything criminals bent on enriching themselves and Mother Nature can provide. After stumbling into trouble with smugglers trafficking in rare and endangered birds, Meg & Todd manage to scare the bad guys off and rescue some of the birds. They are joined by an FBI agent and one from the US Fish and Wildlife.
The Hawaiian federal agents then request Meg’s continuing participation. She and Todd agree, if Meg’s management will send Meg’s human partner and his canine Lacy. They join them in Hawaii with the erstwhile Washington Post reporter and extraordinaire researcher the next day and the adventure is off and running. Meg, Todd, Brian and their dogs along with the federal agents in tracking the smugglers through natural elements and natural disasters in seeking justice for the endangered birds.
I truly enjoy these books. They are entertaining to read and extremely informative about the criminal activity causing the FBI Canine Team to be engaged whether it is terrorism, murder, sex trafficking or in this case, trafficking in rare animals. In this book, the ecological elements in Hawaii were also detailed. I can hardly wait for book 11 in this series.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishers for the DRC copy of Deadly Trade for my honest review. The opinions are my own.

The honeymoon at last. And while the have had a great time relaxing and having a good time, a quick hike to the local reserve finds Todd, Meg and Hawk in the middle of a bird theft ring and it's capture.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review .

I love this series so much. I adore the connection between the K9 La and their humans in these books. This one got bonus points for having the setting in Hawaii, which is my favourite place in the world, and the author truly brought the setting to life. Well
Written with some seriously great characters and real
Suspense added in! The volcano gave it extra edge of your seat reading.
I can’t wait for the next one!

I was completely ‘wowed’ by my first introduction to this author!
Author Sara Driscoll’s vivid and insightful storytelling allowed me to engage deeply with the challenges and rewards of wildlife preservation on the Big Island, Hawaii. Driscoll took me to a remote old-growth fern forest, Pu’u Maka’ala Natural Area Reserve, and alerted me to the dangers of wildlife traffickers and poaching. The author’s ability to capture the pulse of the pressing issues, helped me to understand this wildlife area’s emotional and ethical challenges, and gave me insight into the scope of protecting this wild place and the creatures within.
Meg, Tod and Hawk became immediate friends and I was along for the quest for justice. The danger of discovery and retrieval was paramount and the threat of Mauna Loa erupting added to an already intense recovery mission.
I jumped into this series late, but it didn’t hamper my enjoyment. It can be read as a standalone. If you love dogs (Hawk is a black Labrador with the FBI Forensic Canine Unit), enjoy Hawaiian settings, have a deep connection to wildlife and/or love to see justice and truth triumphing, this is one read you’ll want on your list.
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

What an explosively action packed book. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I found my self not breathing a few times. Some of the scenes are extremely intense. There was so much detail about the lava fields I felt as I was racing through them with the team. I loved this book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read Deadly Trade by Sara Driscoll.
I loved catching up with Meg Jennings, her K9 dog Hawk, and now firefighter / paramedic husband Todd.
While enjoying their honeymoon in Hawaii. Hawk alerts and Meg has stumbled on to some poachers. With her team’s hard work and local Wildlife Officers the events of nature and poachers makes this book entertaining and suspenseful.
I look forward to where the author takes us on her next journey.

What could possibly be better than a novel that takes you on a Hawaiian vacation, with beautiful scenery, loveable dogs, and a touch of romance?
For me, the answer is simple because Sara Driscoll's latest FBI K9 Novel, "Deadly Trade," includes all of that, while also adding a thrilling adventure and intriguing mystery, with native wildlife, active volcanoes, and investigative reporting.
"Deadly Trade" is action-packed from the first page to the last. The scenery took me right back to my Hawaiian vacation from many years ago, but Driscoll's novel also showcases parts of the islands that are off the beaten path.
As with every FBI K9 novel, the details are impeccable, and the descriptions help you feel like you're actually taking part in the investigation.
If you're new to the series, start with the first book and work your way to this latest installment. And, if you've already read the rest of the series, buckle up for another adventure that you won't want to miss!
Happy Reading!

Two weeks in Hawaii for their honeymoon sounds perfect for Meg and Todd so they can rest and relax from their hectic lives. However after a week, Meg and Todd need a good workout so they keep in shape for their jobs. Meg has found a tough trail they can hike that will give K-9 Hawk and them a good parkour workout. It sounds good until she stubbles into a wild bird trafficking operation. She manages to get away with only a mild bullet wound that can be cared for by Todd. They get back to their hotel and call Craig back in DC and it's officially a case. Brian flies in with his dog Lacey and McCord tags along to help with research. The meet with the local field offices and plans are made. Searching in difficult terrain makes it a challenge for people and canines alike. Add that it's in a volcano area and things get even more complicated. The action is constant and the new characters add dimension to the storyline. There is always so much to learn in one of Sara's books as she starts each chapter with a word and definition that relate to the overall theme of the book. It is easy to be tempted to stop and look up pictures of the birds as well as volcano fields. I truly can't imagine how much research went into the story, but I do know if I every get to Hawaii I will be looking for those birds and be visiting the Volcano National Park.

A two week honeymoon turns into a perilous hike in Hawaii. A chance run-in with smugglers has Meg & Todd getting involved in the rare bird world.
Each chapter begins with a term about a volcano. When the search finds them on an active volcano, the tension ramps up to thriller level and makes it hard to put the novel down until the end.
Volcano knowledge is extensively taught and highlights the entire experience. I can always count on Sara Driscoll to provide me with a learning opportunity in a K-9 thriller.

“Deadly Trade” by Sara Driscoll is a gripping and suspenseful crime thriller that keeps you on edge from start to finish. While on their honeymoon in Hawaii, Meg and Todd stumble upon a dangerous web of poachers—and an active volcano ready to erupt. With danger lurking in every shadow, the tension builds perfectly, making this a fast-paced, high-stakes read you won’t want to put down.
