This is one of my favorite authors. Everything she writes is on my must read list. Hawaii is a great setting, one I don’t know much about, but the facts and folklore were interesting. This book was not as intense as the others in the series and I missed that a little, but it was still a great read and I can’t wait to see what the next adventure will be.

I posted by mistake Shadow Play review. I am sorry. I was doing my 'sent by' review reports and on my list, Sara's books are back to back.

This is one of my drop everything and read authors, always able to fuse an excellent story with facts and interesting information. Hawaii makes for a fun and somewhat exotic setting, and most of the usual characters are able to realistically merge into story to join Meg and Todd on their aborted honeymoon.
This book did have less intense action and more speculation and planning than others in the series, at least until the end. This has more subtle danger with the possibility of volcanic activity happening at any moment. I appreciated the map at the beginning, not being particularly familiar with the specifics of Hawaiian geography, and being able to visualize how deep into the forest and close to the volcanos everyone was. There's lots of info about Hawaiian birds and volcanos, even a little folklore thrown in.
Can't wait to see what case the team is sent on next.
