This was an interesting story. It starts out quickly diving right into the thick of the story. It involves a young girl who has something terrible happen, a brother who feels guilt, and a mother who is living a terrible nightmare. It also revolves around a guy who is a complete tool. I'm really not going to tell you much about this one. It unfolds in the best of ways and when you get to the end you'll want to reread the whole thing all over again!
The writing style is smooth and the story progresses perfectly. The characters are well thought out and they can pull on the heartstrings quite a bit. I would recommend this one.
I did get the chance to listen to the audio version of this book and it was great. The narration is brilliant and it really sucks you into the story and brings it to life.

Every Mother’s Nightmare, written by S. E. Lynes and narrated by Tamsin Kennard is a summer mystery that I could not put down! Melissa is a single mother, to her two adult children. Her husband has not been very involved in their lives since their divorce, and even though times and money can be hard sometimes, she is proud of how they are turning out. Her son Dan has seemed to turn a corner and is taking good care of himself, and her daughter Casey is being self sufficient and working at a camp for the summer so she might enjoy some time with her friends. Melissa is happy, and so are the kids. That is until she gets a phone call, with not much information. Something has happened to Casey, and she needs to get to the hospital. As our book continues, with various chapters being told by the three members of this family, we learn about the time leading up to the incident, and what needs to happen now. This is a story of family coming together, protecting each other, and providing support, even when you might not know how to do so.
I loved this audiobook! I could not put it down. I really enjoyed the sibling and mother child relationships, as well as the growth and self awareness of the characters throughout the book. Also really appreciated the variety of friendships included, and the ways that the family recognized who there friends really were.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good mystery or summer read. Thank you to NetGalley and to the author, publisher, and narrator of this book for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Whew… this one got me. Every Mother’s Nightmare is intense, emotional, and totally gripping from the very beginning. S.E. Lynes does such a good job digging into the fears and complexities of motherhood, and honestly, it felt so real at times it gave me chills. The characters were layered and believable, and the way the story slowly unraveled had me turning the pages way too late at night. It’s one of those books that sticks with you long after you finish. Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a psychological thriller that hits a little deeper.

I’m sorry to say this was not one of my favorites; though I do think some readers will find it enjoyable.

For me, if I’m being honest, I was bored. I didn’t find any of the characters likable so I was not invested in them and therefore did not care much what happened to them. This kept the book from hooking me. I had a good idea from the beginning who may have been guilty and guessed some of the twist reveals and, in the end, though the guilty party keep being elusive, I was led to find I was correct.

I will say, I thought I had the title pegged the entire time and the second to last chapter I learned I didn’t have it quite right; a bit clever.

This book has a pretty clear #metoo agenda. So, if that’s your thing, you’ll likely be a fan.

Topics of drugs, sex, assault and rape.

Have to give some accolades to the narrator who had many voices to differentiate, of both genders and multiple ages.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review.

No parent ever wants to hear the words, “Hello—this is Officer…” But that’s exactly the call single mom Melissa receives while she’s at work.

Fearing the worst, she rushes to the summer camp where her daughter, Casey, is a counselor and her son, Dan, is visiting with friends. What she doesn’t know is that Casey has just woken up nearly naked in a tent that isn’t hers—with no memory of how she got there. Meanwhile, Dan is growing more desperate by the minute, unable to reach his sister after a tense argument the night before.

What unfolds is every parent’s worst nightmare—an utterly chilling, edge-of-your-seat story that had me racing through the pages. This four-star read is haunting, suspenseful, and one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Tamsin Kennard, the voice actress, did a wonderful job adding that chaos, unsettling, and desperate feeling all the family members were experiencing.

Big thanks to NetGalley, S.E. Lynes, and Bookouture for the chance to read and listen to this gripping thriller in exchange for an honest review.

Trigger Warning: Sexual assault, toxic masculinity, memory loss.

This was my first time reading a novel by S.E. Lynes, and I was impressed by the storytelling—especially the way the narrative shifted between multiple characters and timelines. The layered structure added depth and maintained a strong sense of suspense throughout. I'm usually quite good at guessing the endings of books like this but this one definitely caught me off guard.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. The narrator really brought each character to life making for an enjoyable "read".

I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from S.E. Lynes.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one is told from 3 points of view which is always a plus. But I found it way too long and it felt like the author tried to throw the kitchen sink at it. There was some twists and turns along the way and where they were well executed they didn’t have the desired effect. I found certain aspects just a little unbelievable when it came to a mother’s instincts. The narrator did a good job of keeping me engaged. Unfortunately this one was just meh for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen and review #EveryMothersNightmare

Thank you Netgalley, S E Lynes and Bookouture Audio for the Audio Arc of Every Mother's Nightmare.
Narrated by Tamsin Kennard

Every Mother's Nightmare is a fast paced twisty narrative which will leave you on the edge of your seat. I pretty much listened to this in one sitting. On an afternoon while the UK weather was too rainy to go out for a walk so it's a great read for cosy days or hot days on the beach. Our two MFC, a Mother and Daughter who are close but struggle with boundaries, letting go and freedom of a teen. Melissa takes a call from the police that her daughter has been found, disoriented, in just her underwear in a tent. Her daughter, Casey, can't remember a thing and luckily was found by a work colleague and friend, called Spider. Her Brother, Dan has been searching for her all over the summer camp.

This book grabs you right from the first page and does not let go. It tackles the very real fear of letting our teens out into the big wide world and the dangers of alcohol, trusting the wrong people and also finding the people who will do what it takes to keep them safe. The pacing of this book is spot on which keeps you constantly engaged and has some great foreshadowing. And of course a few red herrings too. S E Lynes has a great writing style with interesting well built characters.

As always, Tasmin Kennard does a fantastic job in narrating this book, keeping the pacing, tension and the emotions throughout the book.

4.25 stars for Storygraph, 4 stars for Netgalley

This was such a great ALC! If you love thrillers with twists then you will love this one! I thought I had it figured out until the very end!

Suspenseful, psychological thriller.
A story told from multiple points of view regarding the assault of a girl at summer camp, the event meant as a transition from high school to adulthood.
The story is slow as we learn about the characters, their personalities and how they came to know each other. A little back and forth in the timeline from past to present. Parts seem to drag, but the narrator was great and kept me engaged throughout.
The story picks up as events are revealed, the story keeps you guessing and there are a couple surprise turn of events.
This was a good book to listen to, not sure is it engaging to read though.
I gave a four rating based on the narration, otherwise might be a 3.5

Thank you to NetGalley and author for the review copy

Every Mother’s Nightmare by S E Lynes.

It’s the call that every mother waits for and dreads receiving. Single mom, Melissa, receives a phone call from the police that her daughter, 18-year-old Casey, is in hospital.

She races to the hospital to find out that Casey, who has been away working at summer camp, has been attacked. Casey was found in an abandoned tent with no clothes and bruise marks round her neck. She can’t remember anything. Meanwhile her brother, 23-year-old Dan, was at the same campsite and he was looking for Casey after an argument they had the previous evening.

The story goes back and forth in the months leading up to when Casey finishes school and heads to summer camp and the days at the camp site. We also follow Dan where he is working a dead-end job at the local pub. One night three guys roughly his age come play pool and have a couple of beers at the pub and strike up a conversation with Dan. Slowly he is pulled into their world. At first it seems to be a good thing, he is interested in how he looks, going to gym and eating better but then slowly the toxicity of one of the three guys overshadows things.

Back at the campsite, after Casey has been hospitalised, the body of a man is found in the woods. Does this have anything to do with Casey? Just as I thought I knew where the story was going, another twist came along. A fabulous listen.

Thank you to NetGalley for the audio ARC. I also really enjoyed the way Tamsin Kennard narrated the book – she brought Melissa, Dan and Casey to life.

The phone call feared by every mother whilst watching her children grow into young independent adults.
Casey is in hospital after being found confused and alone with no memory of the previous night or how she got there.
When a body is then found near where Casey was found Melissa feels like the bottom has fallen out of her life. Things have changed forever more.

It took me a little while to get into the story but once I was captured I did not want to stop listening, the twists and turns along the way were captivating. The suspense was built impeccably, I felt myself freezing waiting in anticipation for what was to come.
Whilst I mostly enjoyed the narration by Tamsin Kennard I found her attempt at the voice for the men a tad annoying, the rest of the narration complimented the feeling and suspense of the storyline.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a suspenseful mystery, if you like Sara Ochs then you will enjoy this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for offering this ARC in exchange for my personal thoughts.

Thank you to Bookoutre audio and NetGalley for the prepublication copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The narration is really good which makes a huge difference in my opinion to one’s enjoyment of an audiobook.
The story gets going really quickly and is indeed a nightmare that any mothers of teenage children wish to avoid! It’s got some really good twists and turns, the only thing that kept putting me off was I’ve recently watched a TV series that’s really close to this storyline, so I felt I knew what was going to happen. There are some well described, believable characters, some breath holding moments, and some very emotional scenes. It was a book that I was thinking about even when not listening to it, wanting to get back to it, so would definitely recommend.

Every Mother’s Nightmare by S.E. Lynes is one of those books that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. From the moment that phone call comes in, the one every parent dreads. You can feel the mother’s fear, guilt, and desperate need to fix what’s gone wrong. It’s a gut-wrenching, fast-paced story that explores every parent’s worst nightmare in a way that feels hauntingly real.

The plot unfolds with just the right amount of suspense, peeling back layers of secrets and emotional trauma. What really happened that weekend in the woods? And more importantly, who needs protecting, and from what? Lynes does a fantastic job balancing tension and tenderness, giving us a psychological thriller that’s not just about the mystery, but also about family, love, and trust.

Tamsin Kennard’s narration is excellent. She brings an authentic, emotional tone to the characters that made me feel like I was right there with them, especially the mother. Her voice made the fear and confusion that much more real.

I’m giving it 4 stars because while it kept me hooked and emotionally invested, a couple of twists were a little predictable, and I wished for just a bit more depth in some of the character development. But overall, it’s a powerful, heart-pounding listen that will especially resonate with anyone who’s ever worried about their child.

If you’re a fan of Lisa Jewell or Gillian Flynn, this one should definitely be on your radar. Just make sure you have time to finish it. Once you start, you won’t want to stop.

This one was weird. Our girl gets a call that her daughter has been harmed at a summer camp thing where kids who just graduated have gathered to party. We later learn that some older boys, one of who runs a Youtube page for "alphas" and that her brother had been friends with the guy.
Anyway, I loved how easy it was to hate that young man.
The end was definitely a surprise. I loved the narration too!

Book Review: Every Mother’s Nightmare by S. E. Lynes
Rating: ★★★★½ (4.5 stars)
I received Every Mother’s Nightmare by S. E. Lynes as an ARC and I’m truly grateful to have been given the chance to read it early in exchange for an honest review.
This is one of those psychological thrillers that grabs you from the first chapter and refuses to let go. I found all three main characters completely compelling—each one layered, believable, and flawed in ways that made me invested in their outcomes.
What hooked me right away was the subtle hint early in the book, with the line “the call she was expecting.” That small moment told me there was more to the mother than met the eye, and from that point on, I was hanging onto her every word, looking for clues. Even when she appeared oblivious to the truth, I couldn’t help but wonder what she was hiding—and Lynes expertly plays with that tension throughout the novel.
The story is packed with twists and turns, but what made it especially engaging for me was how relatable the characters were. Every parent fears that their child might face a situation like the one in this book. But how many would have the foresight—or the nerve—to do what this mother did? Her actions were shocking at times, but also oddly understandable, given the circumstances.
Every Mother’s Nightmare is both a page-turner and a character study, raising uncomfortable but necessary questions about family, protection, and morality. I highly recommend it for readers who love domestic thrillers with emotional depth.

A mother gets the call that every parent dreads. Her daughter had been found assaulted and unconscious in a tent at a festival. Understandably panicked she rushes to her side but where is her son? he was meant to be keeping an eye on his sister whilst at the party? What the hell happened?

I BINGE read this in two days. utterly addictive and a really current conversation topic. The misogynistic men cringy and pathetic the teenage children all awkward trying to find their tribe, figure out who they are and what they're into wanting absolutely no input from their mother whatsoever. Of course!

The story took a very dark turn with a few red herrings thrown in for good measure all very much appreciated and built the tension and arc of the story wonderfully.
The story did get a little eye rolly towards the end but I was here for the entertainment and could easily suspend reality for the story. As the story came full circle I picked up on some of the points raised earlier on in the book and really loved how the whole thing came together at the end.

The audio quality was top notch as was the narrator.

Overall a lovely way to spend my time. Thank you very much much for the entertainment and allowing me to read it early.
