Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review Every Mother’s Nightmare by providing me with an ARC Audiobook copy!
The Audiobook is narrated by Tamsin Kennard. I must say I do always enjoy hearing this Narrator for Audiobooks. I love that her accent doesn’t make it hard to understand but also adds to the experience! Great Narration choice!
Before I get into the review I must say is My first S.E. Lynes book!
I unfortunately rate this a 2.5 stars.
I do feel like something parts of the book was on the slower side. I didn’t feel like I enjoyed this book as much as I had hoped. I finished it but I had a hard time doing so.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook.
Melissa, a single mother to Dan and Casey gets a call that every mother dreads. Her daughter has been assaulted. Once there it turns out not only has her daughter has been assaulted but someone has been murdered.
This story makes you question everyone, not knowing who did what.
Especially with the Andrew Tate effect on young men this was a really good read. This is sadly the world a lot of young men are growing up in!

I was really enjoying the storyline in this one. Getting the story from three different POVs was fun and kept me wanting to listen so I could see how everything played out from each character’s angle. It was interesting, easy to follow, and overall a super quick listen.
That said, I was a bit underwhelmed by the ending. It felt predictable, and while it was still enjoyable, it didn’t give me that “twist” or shock I was hoping for.
The audiobook narrator, though—amazing. Her voice (including her male character voices!) was so easy to listen to, and she nailed the tone and emotion throughout. I’d absolutely recommend this as an easy, bingeable listen.
Now… here’s my one gripe. On the cover it says this a “completely unputdownable psychological thriller with heart-stopping suspense.” I don’t know about you, but I never once felt shocked or on-edge. I’m starting to think maybe I’m the problem—maybe my brain is just too dark to be surprised anymore 😅 Anyone else feel like this wasn’t exactly the rollercoaster ride it was marketed as?
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This one started off strong for me. Hreat tension, layered characters, and a disturbing plot. I appreciated the realistic family dynamics and the way the story unfolded through multiple POVs. But while the buildup was strong, the pacing dragged in parts, especially halfway through the book. I kept waiting for some kind of ball to drop but it never did. The characters didn't really have much development and the ending didnt have the impact I wanted it to. All in all though, it was still entertaining, just could've been condensed.

From the frantic opening—the terrifying phone call alerting Melissa that her daughter Casey has been found confused in the hospital—the audiobook grabs you and never lets go. The narrative jumps between perspectives and timelines: Melissa, her son Dan, and daughter Casey each reveal pieces of what happened during that fateful weekend. This viewpoint-switching builds suspense and emotional depth, though it occasionally feels slightly chaotic. The plot is twisty, with a final reveal that caught me off guard—and had me rewinding to check clues I’d missed. Definitely recommend for a weekend binge listen!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a great book!
A constant surprise at every turn.
I love this author and always enjoy their books!
The narration was excellent!

Okay, this thriller really grabbed me. If you’re into tense, twisty mysteries with all the emotional layers and zero chill, Every Mother’s Nightmare is your vibe.
S.E. Lynes knows how to build suspense and keep you guessing just when you think you’ve got it figured out, nope, curveball! The story is dark but so gripping you can’t put it down.
Also, can we talk about the narrator, Tamsin!! She’s impeccable. Her voice totally pulled me into the story every tense moment, every emotional beat hit harder because of her delivery. Seriously, she’s a whole mood.
Only tiny thing? Some plot points wrapped up a little too fast for me, but not enough to mess with the overall experience.
If you want a thriller that’s equal parts creepy and emotional, plus narration that slaps, this is the one.

I loved the premise of this book and found the story intriguing, well written, and I listened in one day. i loved the multiple POVs and the main characters were likeable, though I did cringe at some of Melissa's decisions. At times the book dragged a little and I felt my mind wandering. Although I did enjoy the book it didn't deliver the WOW factor to make it stand out from similar titles. There were some twists towards the end but they weren't the jaw droppers that Ms Lynes usually delivers.
I really enjoyed Tamsin Kennards narration.

I enjoyed the narrator! This was a very twisty story! Definitely many twists and turns and they all fit very well! The writer knows how to weave a story together very well. She made everything fit together quite well!

Title: Every Mother’s Nightmare
Author: S.E. Lynes
I was really excited to start this audiobook—it sounded intriguing and full of suspense. But once I began listening, the story felt slow and never quite hooked me. I kept waiting for it to pick up, but it never fully delivered. The twists were just okay—not enough to keep me eager to keep listening. I’m glad I was able to listen to this but I won’t be listening to it again.
Thank you NetGalley, S.E. Lynes and Bookouture Audio for the ALC!

This audiobook was more of a suspense than a thriller. It was essentially a “who dun it” and why? While the story was entertaining, I was expecting more twists and turns and thrills.
The narrator was great I listened at 2x.
It was multiple POV with a dual timeline and easy to follow.
I really enjoyed the ending and how it shows the lengths a parent will go for their children and how far others will go to get revenge.
All in all, it was a quick listen that kept me engaged throughout.

This was a really enjoyable read that had me making theories throughout, but wasn't quite the heart-pounding psychological thriller that I'd been expecting.
When Melissa receives a call at work to say that her daughter has been attacked at summer camp and is in hospital - the panic sets in and she races to be by her side.
The story is then told over a few different pov's and timelines which slowly uncover the events on the run up to and just after the attack.
I really liked all of the characters who were well presented and developed through the story.
Even those less likable characters played an important part in the story and did it well.
The characters felt authentic and relatable and I liked that all of the characters thoughts and feelings were explored from start to finish.
Having the multi pov helped us to really get to grips with how each member of the family navigated these issues - which lets face it, are sadly things that we all have to consider in this day and age.
It really does make you think about your own encounters and those of your own family members - we definitely had a few family discussions around this whilst reading.
I guessed quite a few of the outcomes and reveals which meant that this didn't quite have as big an impact on me as I read - however, I definitely didn't see the final twist coming!
Still a great read which is relevant to current everyday issues and I was totally invested in how the story would develop and play out.
Looking forward to reading more by this author soon.
💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

I enjoyed this tense, gripping thriller set at a teenage summer camp in Dorset. There is a very taut, fast paced and twisty plot, and the narration is excellent.
With thanks to NetGalley, S.E. Lynes and Bookouture for my advance audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Every Mother’s Nightmare felt a little short of the description. I have enjoyed this author in many books before, but this one did not meet my expectations.

I am a big fan of this authors work and, in this novel, they have done an amazing job capturing the fears and doubts that come with motherhood. It’s tense, emotional, and had me questioning what I’d do in the same situation. A little bit slow in the middle, but the ending more than made up for it. Definitely one to check out if you like your thrillers with heart.

4.25⭐️. Every Mother's Nightmare by S.E. Lynes is exactly that: a mother’s worst fear realized in a split second—one phone call, and life is upended. From the moment that phone vibrates in the protagonist’s bag, tension seeps in and never lets go. The story is raw, emotional, and laced with a creeping dread that builds as the truth unravels.
Lynes does a masterful job of pulling readers into the complex web of family, secrets, and guilt. The voice of the mother is deeply authentic—equal parts fierce, fragile, and desperate. The dynamics between the siblings are layered and compelling, making you question everyone and everything. The narrative expertly shifts between past and present, memory and reality, keeping the reader guessing what really happened that weekend in the woods.
The pacing is strong, though there are moments where the introspection slows the momentum just slightly. Still, the payoff is worth it. The twist, while not entirely shocking, is delivered with such emotional weight that it hits hard.
This isn't just a thriller—it's a psychological excavation of what it means to be a parent, to trust, and to protect at all costs, even when you’re not sure what the truth actually is.

If you’re after a pacey, sleepy-town, festival thriller that’s a perfect summer read, you won’t go far wrong with this new one from S E Lynes.
Casey wakes up in her tent, confused and disorientated. Before long, she’s in an ambulance being whisked to hospital as it looks like she may be a victim of assault. She’s been drugged, and can’t remember the details of the previous evening. Her brother’s panicking because he thinks his new best-buddy may be responsible. Her mum’s frantic because this wouldn’t have happened if only she’d made a different decision.
As Casey’s memory slowly returns, she begins to fill in the gaps.
The story switches between Casey, her mum and her brother’s POV, and as we discover what happened in the events leading up to the festival, and in the days that follow it, the picture slowly becomes clearer… or so it seems.
This mystery had multiple twists, and was expertly narrated by Tamsin Kennard.
Five stars from me, with thanks to NetGalley and BookoutureAudio for a chance to listen to an ARC. Every Mother’s Nightmare is out on July 9.

Every Mother’s Nightmare is a grounded and engaging story about abuse told through three points of view.
Melissa gets a phone call that her daughter was found in a confused state and is in the hospital. Based on the evidence given to Melissa over the phone, it’s easy to assume what type of abuse occurred. I enjoyed Melissa’s POV the best of the three. The others were from her kids, Casey, who is the victim, and Dan.
This was a little different from most books of this nature. This one moved at a slower pace and was a little longer than most. Those are not negatives. The slower pace allowed for some nice twists and reveals. Some I saw coming, others caught me by surprise. I love it when books have more than one big twist, and that’s what we got here.
I never really enjoyed Dan’s point of view, and his parts did seem to drag on more than those of Casey and Melissa.
S.E. Lynes is a terrific author, and this is a well-written book, but if I were to recommend one of their books, this would not be my first choice.

This is a high quality audio book which has a revealing story told from different pov and at different times. This did grip my attention as I was drawn deeper into the story. There was real emotion in the characters narration, the fear of the mother and the brother showed through in all their various timelines. It did show nothing is always what it seems to be true . The pacing was good and the deep delve into history. Although there were twists and turns there was no dramatic reveal or hold on to my seat moment. I did enjoy this but was disappointed there was no great reveal. Perfect for mystery fans who like a slow burn that focuses on relationships rather than action. It was very engaging as I was compelled to listen to find out what really happened. This is just over a 4 star read. Thank you so much netgallery, publisher, narrator and author.

Thanks #NetGalley and #Bookouture for letting me read early! The book is okay. It’s not really a thriller and more a suspenseful read. The twists didn’t really hit for me and it didn’t keep me super engaged.
