A card game at the Lyon's Den goes wrong when Belinda Bellamy is caught in disguise. Women are not allowed to play cards with the men. She only wanted enough money to hire Mrs. Dove-Lyon. Blaming Piers Darville, Belinda carries a grudge against him when she is caught. He finds her punishment from Mrs. Dove-Lyon very satisfying. Piers is close to finding his former mistress and her son, until Belinda interferes. Can two people who hold a grudge against each other work together to find happiness? Their relationship constantly changes, so it's somewhat of a surprise when it falls into place. Guess who takes the credit?

Not sure that I liked this book. Bel8nda the heroine seemed like a nosey do-gooder, who just seems to make a mess and get into trouble. The hero Piers was odd too, yes he was not of the ton, but seriously marrying his old flame of many years who did not want him to find her seemed a little obsessive.
The writing style also did not resonate with me in this book.

Hmm...
I really want to get into this book but I really couldn't. I guess because I really did not care for either Piers or Belinda.
Neither one is really likable. Piers is a rake, he fathered an illegitimate kid and is search for said kid through questionable means (and you can totally see where its going).
Belinda is rash but she always is foiled every which way she turns. She is perhaps not the brightest. I don't really see the connection between Piers and Belinda.

The Lyon Rampant by Elizabeth Keysian is part of the Lyon’s Den Connected World. Normally I love Lyon’s Den books but this one took a little to get into. By the middle or so I was enjoying the story of a man who was trying to do right for a child he had fathered out of wedlock. Miss Belinda Bellamy was trouble, at least she always had been and she seemed to be in form when she snuck into the Lyon’s Den dressed as a man. Her goal had been to win enough money to pay Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find her a husband. But, then, she was unmasked, her brother-in-law banned from the establishment, and her hopes dashed. All by a despicable man named Piers Darvill who seemed to be nothing more than a rake, often seen with an actress on his arm. But, as it turns out, he was so much more.
Belinda didn’t think before she acted and it did cause a lot of trouble in her life. But, she was a good and kind person. Piers had come to England as a child, running from the war in France. His natural parents were dead, but his adopted ones were very much alive and well. He was mining lead and selling it for use in making bullets, the only way he had of retribution against the wicked French rebels who had killed his parents. It was a good story, with the end in sight for most of it, Belinda, especially was a good character. We heard much of the backstories of each and so developed sympathy for each of them. Basically, a good read.

This book was almost a sequel of sorts since it was about characters from a previous Lyońs Den book that I read and enjoyed. This was a bit of a different vibe. Mrs Dove-Lyon did actually match this couple although she may have helped put them in one another´s path. I really liked the hero and his story. He was definitely a character that I could empathize with and I enjoyed his witty conversation. I did not like the heroine very much though. The character was annoyingly frustrating. The character was meant to have some emotional issues but I’m not quite sure exactly what the issue was because it seemed like it kept changing. The character really just appeared spoiled, meddlesome, overly dramatic, and completely confused about her feelings. I had a hard time wanting to root for her like I did for the hero. I do always enjoy a happy ending, but I had a hard time motivating myself to get there because the there were too many plots which I think prolonged the book and the heroine’s antics. I liked the author and the writing because the characters were well written, but I just didn’t like the portrayal of the heroine which turned me off to the growing love story.

In this historical romance we go back to the Lyon's Den world, but not in the usual way.
Our heroine is trying to prove she is more balanced and self-confident after coming to terms with her tragic loss. It doesn't all go well.
Our hero shows one face to the world, when his true personality is very different.
This story is filled with emotion, but also quite a few laughs. The characters have a lot of growing to do. We get to enjoy their journey.
Good fun.

Oh, how I love when the story can make me go from hating a character to adoring them! That's how I felt about the hero in this book, Piers Darvill. Giving the air of your typical scoundrel rake, he pushed my buttons for a good chunk of the book, and I liked how our heroine Belinda didn't really take his shit. Each party was entertaining in their own way, and I grew quite fond of their bantering and growing relationship.
The plot was written quite well, although I found our ever-present Mrs. Dove-Lyon to be a slight annoyance in this Lyon's Den novel. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it felt like her reasons for doing certain things at certain points of the story didn't make sense to me. But in any case, I liked Elizabeth Keysian's writing and I am curious to check out whether she's written any other books within this series. If not, I'll just have to check out what other stories she's written.
Thank you NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the chance to read a copy of this, I always love seeing what's next in the Lyon's Den world.

Belinda gets caught in the Lyons Den and Mrs. Dove-Lyon tales her in hand. A fun filled story with some old friends, new ones and a young hoodlum. Piers is determined to do the right things but is continuously running into Belinda who has her own way of approaching the world. I love this series, yet I have to say that some of the latter stories like this one are a bit long. There was repetition in this version that I believe if removed would have created a more even pace to the story. It didn't stop me from my overall joy with the series, just slowed me down a bit. 🤗

Debts, Secrets, Heartache, Romance:
An interesting story from a new author for me and I found it quite unique with it's not so typical involvement with Mrs. Lady Dove Lyon better known as the Black Widow.
The characters are a little bit out of the ordinary with their very different stations in life and as if that isn't enough there is also some mystery to conquer which they do only to reach a very happy ending.

The Lyon Rampant is the nest book in the Lyon's Den Connected World series.
Belinda masquerades as a man to win enough money to pay Mrs. Dove-Lyon in order to find a husband goes wrong when she is discovered the very person she wanted to help her. Losing everything she has won she has a debt to pay to Mrs. Dove-Lyon.
Piers Darvill, a notorious rake helps to ruin Belinda's plan has a secret. He’s trying to locate the woman who keeps his son out of reach.
These two will be thrown together to help each other find what they are most looking to find.
This was a fast afternoon read. While I love anything involving the Lyon's Den, this one felt a little flat to me. I was not drawn to the characters as I normally find myself. It is still worth reading.

Thank you NetGalley. Belinda talks her step-brother, Roland into taking her to the Lyon's Den dressed as a man to play cards and win some money to pay Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find her a husband. It doesn't work out as Belinda wants and Roland is not allowed back in for weeks and she finds herself helping in the kitchen. Piers Darvil who caught her likes her cooking and seems to show up where ever she is. They find out they have more the same than they thought. He is supporting a boy he thinks is his and she sees the boy and thinks he isn't. As time goes by they go from disliking each other to falling in love. The story has more ups and downs for them before they get to the loving of each other.

Tricking her way into a gentlemen’s card game at the Lyon’s Den isn’t Belinda Bellamy’s cleverest idea. Unmasked, Belinda’s ploy to raise enough money for Mrs Dove-Lyon’s services backfires badly. Instead of hiring the best matchmaker in London, Belinda is blackmailed into becoming her employee. The man who’s ruined Belinda’s plan is the rich but ruthless Piers Darvill, who’s on the hunt for the woman hiding his young son. He’ll use any means to find her, including a young street urchin called Tom and Roland Chetwynd, Belinda Bellamy’s hapless chaperone and confidant. Belinda is determined to rescue Tom and free Roland from his obligations.
Another very well written book in this connected long running series. It’s fast paced, has strong characters & I found the pages flew by. I really liked both Piers & Belinda & how their relationship changed & deepened.
There were secrets on both sides too. The secondary characters were also well portrayed & their involvement added to the story. An engrossing book, which I thoroughly enjoyed

The Lyon Rampant is a cleverly written enemies to lovers story set in the world of the Lyon's Den. Belinda Bellamy dresses up as a gentleman to play in a card game, trying to save up the funds to acquire Lady Dove-Lyon's services as a matchmaker. But Piers Darvill sees right through her disguise and instead informs the management, causing Belinda's winnings to be confiscated, her brother in-law to be banned from the Lyon's Den, and Bellamy working off her debt to Lady Dove-Lyon. It's safe to say that Belinda cannot stand Piers.
Of course life (or maybe Lady Dove-Lyon) intervenes and the two cross paths again. They're very slow to trust each other, yet also quite drawn to each other. They are also both dealing with deep pain from past heartbreak. It was lovely to see them gradually grow toward each other and heal. They also used that as a strong foundation to build a permanent relationship from. It was quite endearing.
I really enjoyed The Lyon Rampant. Elizabeth Keysian is a delightful author, her books are well-written, with wonderful characters, engaging stories, and gripping details that keep me captivated from first page to last.

Belinda’s plan to obtain money to pay matchmaker Mrs Dove-Lyon and find a husband goes horribly awry. Her winnings at the gambling table are confiscated and she is inveigled into working at The Lyon’s Den for a fortnight in order to pay her debt. And then the man that had her thrown from the game discovers her secret. An enjoyable story with a touch of mystery and heartache.

It did not take long to go from enemies to lovers but Piers and Belinda made the move rather quickly. It’s a great storyline that is well presented which made for an interesting read. There are secrets on both sides that are eventually revealed. There are several supporting characters that added to the story and I was particularly intrigued by Tom. Mrs. Dove-Lyon plays her part beautifully, as always. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
