I love this authors writing, and loved this sampler. This has me hooked and I need more.🥰
The writing was so detailed but not in a boring way, I truly believe this author just knows exactly how to do fantasy right.

I really enjoyed this as a sample and as a Bluebeard retelling. It had that tension that I expected from Bluebeard and still have a unique concept. I was engaged with how the characters were told in this book and enjoyed going on the first ten chapters of this book. It had that writing style that I was looking for from Marissa Meyer and her characters. It does a great job of hooking the reader and making you want to read the full story and more from Marissa Meyer. It uses the murder mystery element perfectly for the sample and was glad I got to read the chapters I did.

Another fairytale retelling by the great Marissa Meyer and I loved this sample. Ghosts, monsters, witches (kind of), and a handsome count- what more could we ask for? The world, despite not being our world, feels familiar and lived in with new tidbits being unearthed every chapter. I can already tell the mythos and magic are going to be amazing! Definitely adding this to my TBR!

Marissa Meyer is one of my all time favorite authors. Her books never disappoint this book is no different even though it's only the sample of the first 10 chapters I loved it and can't wait to get my hands on the full book.

A chapter sampler done right!
Thank you to NetGalley and Feiwel & Friends for the availability of this chapter sampler for The House Saphir.
This was the perfect amount to get readers interested in an upcoming book release. I didn’t even have to finish the entire sampler to know this is a book I am interested in reading!

This has been the first book in a long time that’s caught my attention. It reminds me of the 2010s YA which was some of my absolute favorite. Mallory is a strong young woman who needs to survive and is willing to do anything necessary, even lie and scam a little. But she can also talk to ghosts and that’s super interesting! Since this was only the first ten chapters, it was only a small taste of the book… but I need it all. Meyer excels at the retellings and I can’t wait to fully get into this one, especially when it’s revealed who the latecomer to her tour is. Just… yes please about this book! I need the whole story immediately!
Thank you Macmillan for the review sampler!

A chapter sampler that truly leaves readers metaphorically hungry for more! Marissa Meyer is so talented.

The second I heard Bluebeard retelling, immediate YES. This ten chapter sampler did not disappoint. Full of mystery and fraud from the very beginning, The House Saphir sampler immediately pulled me in. Marrissa Mayer does a fantastic job setting the scene, keeping me on the edge of my seat and starting the thrill early on. I absolutely love ghost stories and the paranormal, and getting one right of the gate was perfection. Just when I thought I was getting into the thick of it, plot twist, it is only the beginning. The first ten chapters have done the perfect job of setting the scene, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the story.
Thank you Macmillian for this advanced copy sampler!

Wow I flew through that so fast. I adore Marissa’s writing, and her world building especially. This one has me so excited by those first 10 chapters. I’m loving Mallory’s character. She’s clever and spunky, and determined to make her way in the world by any means necessary. And I especially love the monsters! I can’t wait to meet more of them, and I’m glad to have gotten a little explanation of what they are and why they’re around before the sample ended. AND THE GHOSTS! The haunted house tour was so fun and I’m loving Triphine. I can’t wait to meet the other ghosts and find out more about the sisters. I can already tell I’m going to absolutely love this book!

you had me at "bluebeard retelling," but throw in a pair of scam artist sisters and the great great grandson of monsieur le bleu…
my first marissa meyer read, but definitely not my last! she is clearly the "queen of fairytale retellings" for a reason. i was engaged from the first line and plan to download my copy of the full book as soon as i finish this review.

I'm a big fan of Marissa Meyer and this preview did not disappoint. I can't wait to find out what happens to the fraudlent witch Mallory Fontaine, her sister and Count Armond when they go to his country estate to try to exorcise a malevolent ghost.

“Mallory knew how to hold a salad fork, thank you very much, and it was in a tight first while you sent those sharp little tines straight in the thigh of a would-be attacker. Or the eyeball.”
The way I screamed out loud when I got to the end of this sample! I forgot how mesmerizing Meyer’s writing is. She captivates you from the very first sentence- “If a Young lady did not wish to be murdered, it was advisable that she not spend her evenings meeting with strangers on dark street corners”
As soon as I finished the sampler, I immediately went to Google and added it to my TBR. I cannot wait to buy this book.

Already hooked! Loving the writing and our main character. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book!

Marissa Meyer is always a favorite - I cannot wait to read this when it comes out! I loved the voice and the pacing, and I will definitely be tuning into the book when it's out. I can't wait to see how Meyer tackles Bluebeard.

This is a brief sampler of the upcoming book The House Saphir, covering the first ~10 chapters.
The story begins with Mallory, a tour guide at the House Saphir giving ghost tours. She and her sister have a business giving tours and selling merchandise, all of which are fake and intended to take advantage of the tourists - but the trick is, Mallory can actually speak to ghosts. She is able to talk with the ghost of one of the wives of Count Bastien Saphir who lives in the house, and much of the history she gives comes from this interaction.
During her tour, Mallory is caught as a fraud by two undercover agents, but she is saved by the not-previously-known heir of the House Saphir., the great-great grandson of Bastien. Armand brings her and her sister to live with him, with the agreement that she will help rid his ancestral home of Count Saphir's ghost.
The early chapters in this sampler don't quite get to the meat of the story, but the introduction of Mallory and Armand is fun to see, and you can feel the beginnings of their chemistry. The story has a great balance between serious ghost story and comedy - Mallory's efforts to put on a ghost tour are hilarious, and the snark in her interactions with Armand is already evident. This sounds like a great story with some whimsy and levity balancing the romance.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the chapter sample. I'm a fan of the author's Lunar Chronicles series and while I enjoyed Renegades, I thought it would have made a better series as a duology. Although they come from a long line of powerful witches, sisters Mallory and Anais don't have a drop of magic in them. Lucky for them, no one is aware of their complete lack of powers, and with Mallory's ability to commune with the dead, they're able to scrape by on swindling customers looking for seances and tours of the mysterious Saphir House, where Count Bastien Saphir or "Monsieur Le Bleu" murdered his wives. After a boy joins Mallory's tour claiming to be the living relative of Saphir, she and her sister are recruited to exorcise a ghost haunting Armand Saphir's home. These first chapters were a great start! Very action packed and do a great job of setting up the world. Also some great humorous moments between Mallory and Triphine, the ghost of Saphir's first wife. I did find the transition between settings at Saphir House to Mallory's apartment to be very abrupt. I was trying to catch my bearings and at first I thought we may have been in a flashback. I think we could have benefitted from referencing the events of the night before sooner before diving into the late rent situation. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

I consider myself a fan of Marissa Meyer's books and this one has a great premise.
From the preview I can tell that this is a bit dark and has interesting characters.
I had a great time reading the beginning of the book and I'm sad that there's so much time left until the book is released.
Mallory is a very interesting character with the ability of seeing ghosts.
I like the gothic atmosphere of the story, the monsters described in the beginning and the haunted mansion plot.
Thank you Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the preview of the book.

Thank you NetGalley for the chapter sample
I really enjoyed the characters and their banter. The ghost of the Duchess is comedy gold. Triphine and Mallory are going to be a hit! This book was already on my radar but now it is officially on my tbr. I can't wait wait for release day!

*Thank you Netgalley for the Chapter sampler*
This book is so fun and addictive! The writing makes it feel so fast paced and the characters are very fun and intriguing. The story includes french mythology, Murder, and witches! (Like how interesting is that!!!) I’m so exited to read the rest of this book!!! It’s one of my most anticipated reads of the year

I just finished the sample and I need the full book pronto!
I’m already in love with the world and I need to know what happens next!
