A riotously fun and endearing small-town romance with a heap of heart, chaos, and laughter. Eva, the klutzy romance novelist hiding from her past, collides with Sheriff Donovan who’s too honest for his own good in a town that literally loses its mind during a cosmic event. Their slow-burn attraction, paired with town-wide absurdity, creates a love story that’s both deeply emotional and joyfully hilarious. Lucy Score delivers warmth, quirky charm, and real chemistry that kept me smiling all the way to the last page.

DNF - I couldn’t get into it. It seemed so bland and boring compared to other books I’ve read over the last few months

Romantic chaos meets laugh-out-loud comedy in this irresistible small-town tale. Score’s banter, charm, and heartwarming moments make it pure escapism.

The dedication makes sense now. I had tears in my eyes from laughing by the time I was 10% in. I freaking love Blue Moon and its quirkiness, as Officer Jamal Lewis called it. I’ll be keeping a closer eye on planetary shifts from now on. Oh, and Farming Society parade float was the best!

This had the usual Lucy Score whimsical cute vibes, but it did feel a bit too silly at some points. I also think it was potentially 200 pages too long. I also wish we got a bit more "falling in love" moments between the two love interests. It was very clear that you were meant to have read another series before this book, which took me a bit out of the world at some points.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I love Lucy Score’s books, she always writes stories that hold my interest and balance humor and heart so well. Holding on to Chaos just reaffirmed this for me, introducing Eva and Donovan and the town of Blue Moon, a place full of characters I can’t wait to go back to.
Eva is a (secret) romance novelist who seems to have trouble following her, while Donovan is a steady and protective Sheriff who could have come straight out of the pages of her books. Eva isn’t in Blue Moon for the charm (though it is exceedingly charming) but rather to run away from her past. A past that Donovan can sense is full of secrets. A planetary phenomenon throws the towns people into a spin while bringing Eva and Donovan together. The townspeople are already super quirky so as you can imagine this was off the charts hilarious, and Eva and Donovan have serious chemistry with some pretty steamy scenes coming up… sometimes interrupted by the neighborly shenanigans.
I wish Lucy could write fast enough to keep up with my appetite for her books (though it seems this may have been an older book reissued- where have I been?!) because this, like many others, is such a hit.

I absolutely love the Blue Moon series and this entry was no exception. Eva and Donovan were a really engaging couple and I enjoyed watching their relationship blossom, especially after the teases in previous books! I think it can be easy for a series to get a bit stale and repetitive but Lucy Score absolutely avoids that here and keeps it fresh. I like that we get to see a peek at all of the characters we’ve come to know and love without losing focus on the primary couple of the book. This book also delivered a good villain and the resolution with them was so satisfying. Looking forward to the next instalment and to see where Eva and Donovan go next!

Blue Moon is not your typical town. Now the town is under a crazy planetary phenomenon and everyone is acting crazier than usual. Sheriff Donovan is doing his best to make it through. ARC from NetGalley.

Cute, funny, and absolutely a classic Lucy Score book. Love her so much. Nothing too deep, just a funny, romance with enough spice to keep me comin' back! _

I don’t know why Lucy Score is re-releasing so many of her older books, but I’m here for it. The Blue Moon series, although not nearly as good as her Knockemout series, is still a fun read full of Lucy Score’s trademark essentials, with witty banter, steamy romance, hot sex, and memorable secondary characters from a tight-knit community. (In this case, Blue Moon is highly comparable to the Gilmore Girls Star’s Hollow). I lost count of the numerous times I laughed out loud while reading this book, and I recommend it to everyone.

If you’re a fan of quirky small towns, meddling neighbors, and an unfiltered romance writer stumbling through love, this Blue Moon romance might be your next cozy read. Eva Merrill, a chaotic but charming novelist, finds herself hiding secrets in a town where everyone wants to know your business—especially Sheriff Donovan Cardona, who reads people like a lie detector and can’t seem to stay away from Eva, even when she’s flashing him (accidentally, of course).
There’s undeniable charm in the setting—a town that channels Stars Hollow energy with its eccentric community and over-the-top antics. The banter is a definite highlight; Eva and Donovan spark off each other with rapid-fire wit and plenty of awkward-but-cute moments. Their chemistry is there, even if the slow burn evaporates faster than you’d expect.
But for all its charm, this book leans hard on familiar tropes: the manic pixie dream girl, the gruff-but-soft sheriff, and a “love at first boob sighting” arc that doesn’t leave much room for development. The emotional pacing feels rushed—Donovan goes from suspicious to smitten almost instantly, skipping the tension that makes slow-burn romances so satisfying.
And unless you're a long-time Blue Moon reader, the sheer number of secondary characters (and their convoluted backstories) might feel overwhelming. It sometimes reads like a reunion episode you accidentally walked into without watching the first few seasons.
Bottom line: If you're already invested in the Blue Moon universe, this installment adds another layer of lovable chaos. If you're new, expect to be charmed—but maybe also a little confused. A light, funny read for fans of small-town hijinks and trope-heavy romance. Just don’t expect any big surprises.

Holding on to Chaos by Lucy Score was such a treat! Eva is a quirky and lovable disaster. Her slow burn yet electric chemistry with Donovan had me hooked, and their banter was laugh out loud hilarious. And as always, I love the small town charm of Blue Moon.
