Former SIOB agent Catarina Keys is on a CIA assignment in Hondorous when she is kidnapped off the street.
Former Takeback team member Jack Donovan is on a mission with his new team mates when he spots an old acquaintance, a woman he hasn’t seen in nine months. Nine months since they worked together to take down a scumbag and rescue trafficking victims before she disappeared off the face of the earth. Kidnapping her off the side of the road probably didn’t endear him to Catarina but he wasn’t about to leave her prey to the Honduran gangs.
When the pair realise they are looking for the same woman all be it for different reasons, they decide to join together. Jack is aware how careless Catarina can be with her own safety, how reckless and stubbornly goal focused she is. There’s no way he’s going to let her carry on with her assignment without backup whether she wants it or not.
There’s no denying the attraction that simmered between them back in Las Vegas all those months ago is still there, but Cat can’t let emotions get in the way of completing her mission. She has no choice but to try to keep her feelings locked down until this assignment is over and they can both go back to their own lives. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of harmless flirting though right?

We first met Jack & Cat in the final book of Riley’s ‘Takeback’ series ‘Dangerous Affair’, at the end of the book Cat just vanished before they could explore their mutual attraction. **It has to be said here that although we have met many of the characters in this book in previous series, this story is easily read without any previous knowledge**

FIXED ASSET starts off with adrenaline pumping, fast paced action which basically doesn’t slow down until the very end. The storyline entices you in and the pages turn themselves as you desperately need to know what will happen next.
There’s a constant hum of attraction between the two main protagonists, they bounce off each other brilliantly, the flirting is nonstop and when they succumb to their desire the pages are 🔥🔥🔥 - this isn’t a book for the prudish!
Riley Edwards is certainly back at the top of her game- there’s no-one that writes military romance quite like her! The links back to her previous series ‘Takeback’ are flawless and her attention to detail leads to a gripping, heart racing, unputdownable read.
Having read all Riley’s Previous series I personally really enjoyed seeing
What happened to Jack, Pete, Cat etc after the events in Dangerous Affair and whilst off page the mentions to Mia and Cole (Dangerous Mind) were appreciated too. Shep is included in ‘Fixed Asset’ in a deeper role as we learn a bit more about him. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing him getting his own redemption.

My excitement levels were already at fever pitch knowing I was going into a brand new series with one of my favourite authors, but then this book was so good I had to read it twice back to back

Jack and Catriona are the perfect (insert chefs kiss emoji) kick off to this series. If you have read her Takeback series (not needed but does add some additional colour to this book) then where the heck have you been for starters, and secondly you will already have been jonesing for this couple to finally get their book

I loved Catriona. Just loved her full stop. I loved her heart, her humour and how she was so difficult until she was so easy in her relationship with Jack

Jack is just exactly who I knew he would be and my goodness does it leave big shoes to fill (though we have Mason next who allegedly has mighty big “shoes” so…..)

After fighting his feelings when they first met, Jack is more than gone the next time they cross paths and the biggest and most emotional challenge he faced is allowing both of them the opportunity to still be who they are deep down. As hard as it is for him to see his heart in danger, the way this is worked through gave me goosebumps and was so satisfyingly empowering.

Relationship goals, as Catriona said herself “We’re already rockin’ the hell out of this relationship gig.”

I desperately want more and can’t wait for this series to continue. I loved all the characters, but especially Catriona’s relationship with the mysteriously deep Mason and really hope we get more of that as his story unfolds in what I predict to be a heart wrenching story.

Another action packed story by Riley featuring a whole new set of characters. Well, we have met Pete before, but this isn’t his story. (Mia and Cole)
Jack and Cat have previously met on a prior job in Las Vegas.
Fast forward 9 months and he’s kidnapping her from the street in a gang area in a whole different country!
Say what?!?!
Yep!
He and his teammates steal her off the streets.
Her training doesn’t even have time to kick in. That’s how fast it happened.
Thank goodness it was only Jack and his teammates! Jack wanted to scare her so she would stop making bad decisions and be more aware of her surroundings since she clearly doesn’t have backup.
Oh sure, Cat tried to play it off, but Jack knows better.

I enjoyed the banter between these two characters and I look forward to the stories of the other guys in the group!

This isn't my first Riley Edwards novel. I generally enjoy her work. I feel that enjoyment of a novel is a lot like cake: what some find too sweet, others love. Like cake, it's all about ratios. So, instead of telling you what ratio a book should have, I figured I'll tell you my estimate of what ratio this one has and let you decide whether to pick it up. I think the book is 20% military action, to 40% romance and wisecracks, to 40% sex. I personally like a slightly higher percentage of military action, but we're all different and come to the table wanting different things. To be fair the wisecracks are fairly clever.

A new Series, familiar and new characters.
We are stepping back to Takeback time and reunite not only with Jack and Cat. These two had unfinished business to settle and they get their opportunity in the first Downrange Book.
Their Story is unique packed with badass ladies that give as good as any of those Alpha Protectors. Jack has his work and mental state cut out for him.
Love this action packed, suspense Romance and can only recommend.

I couldn't put it down! The chemistry and banter between cat and Jack was amazing. The book has great plot to spice ratio. I cant wait for book 2.

If you’ve read the Takeback series, these characters need no introduction…suffice to say Jack and Cat find themselves thrown together while both overseas undergoing missions. But this time neither is prepared to walk away from the other, but first they need to complete their missions as well as survive the dangers they face along the way❣️

Loved this new set of characters, they feel so complex and intriguing, which I love and I’m so happy to have been given the chance to read this early. After waiting for Jonas, I feel like I’ve been in a Riley Edwards slump waiting, so this was enough to whet my whistle to tide me over for the next book😍

Can’t wait to find out more about Mason, Pete, Fallon, Aiden, Gavin and perhaps Shep🤞 I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and willingly leave my honest review❤️

This was such a blast of a first book! I was already familiar with the two characters that this book focuses on, they each appear in Riley Edwards' previous series Takeback, but the reader is re-introduced to the two pretty well. Because, there was some familiarity, I didn't think the romance moved too quickly and although there was some intense feelings, the previous series (and the first couple chapters) established the history between them pretty quickly and strongly that the development felt fairly realistic. I do think people would be helped if they read the Takeback series first (or at least the book that Calista appears in).

I also enjoyed the plot to this story! A lot going on but I think it stands alone pretty well and doesn't use previous series from Riley as plot points so it is pretty standalone. I thought there was some great action and we get to see our MCs really involved in some high-intensity escapades! Additionally, some nice setups for future books & couples!

I have always loved Riley Edward’s books and this new series does not disappoint! Jack and Catarina are such a fun couple, I love her strength and I love how he supports her. Riley does a great job of introducing this new team, I am already in love with Mason and cannot wait for his story. Riley’s books are short and to the point without a lot of fluff. I had trouble putting this down.

This book is fast paced romantic suspense at its best!!! In this novel, Cat is on a mission for the CIA, when she is abruptly confronted by Jack and his team. When they're together, the sparks fly even faster than the bullets. Their romance is sexy and hot, even as they fight to find and rescue kidnapped women and girls. When a CIA officer adds a personal twist, things get even more harrowing....

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. Its the first novel in a new series and I can't wait to read the next one. The author is on my must read authors' list.

I’ve been a Riley Edwards fan for years, and I think this may be her best book yet! The chemistry between Catarina and Jack is off the charts. Lots of action and suspense, and I loved learning more about this new team. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
