** spoiler alert ** John Ajvide Linquist is a horror writer but in this case he's also a detective writer from the get go. It only turns to horror when it ends so to speak. Knowing there are two other books which should bring this up to the horror level is interesting. In this story 6 people were killed in order to keep his (Frode Moe's) empire together. Julia Malmros and Kim Ribbing met while Julia was writing a Millennium novel and were at her cabin when the heard the shooting the murders made across the water. Kim got to find Astrid under the dock and bring her up, back to the police and they took her to a hospital, she is she daughter to one of the men who got shot. Kim set off to find the son of one of the Chinese man that was killed to see if he knew anything. Then to Cuba to see a man that at a meeting in 1993 and who attended. John uses all the extreme touches on all the people he uses in the events that happen. He uses a lot of different events to solve several problems and also give the plot different vibes. I really like what he wrote and am waiting for the next in the series with bated breath.
