I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.

After a painful breakup just months before what was to be her wedding, Sloane Chatfield is trying to adjust to single life. Her friends mean well but their efforts to set her up with someone new have become too much. Sloane tells them she’s waiting for the perfect Highlander, like the heroes in her favorite books. This turns into a full-blown trip to Scotland. Sloane arrives before her friends, intent on finding the perfect Highlander and staging a breakup before her friends arrive so she can finally get them off her back.

Galen Buchanan is struggling to save his grandfather’s old pub in his remote Highland village. Things aren’t going well, he’s nearly decimated his savings, and now there’s a loud-mouthed American using his best table each day, hogging the Wi-Fi, and unnerving the regulars. But when she asks Galen to pretend to be her boyfriend and offers enough money to save the pub, he reluctantly acquiesces thinking he can surely make it work for a week or so.

This was a cute setup and I could definitely see it as a romcom movie. As a book though I think we got too much of Sloane’s inner thoughts for her to be likable. Her poor little rich girl persona was not endearing to me, especially when she tried to belittle and judge Galen when he was the only one with an actual understanding of business agreements and she had almost no practical knowledge. Galen was charming in his own quirky, strong, silent way, but I don’t think we got to know him as much and I would’ve liked more background on him and why he was gun shy about relationships. Sloane’s snobby friends were insufferable, overbearing busybodies and I wanted her to stand up to them more. The final chapter or so of this book was adorable and had me rooting for the couple, but the rest was a bit of a slog. Overall, this was a cute premise but I doubt I’ll reread.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I just really enjoyed this book. It was just really easy to get lost in this book. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Beach read, or travel read on your way to Europe. Plot is one that has been told in many, many different ways, so nothing new there. Sloane, who was just left by her fiancé, travels to Scotland to recover and meet a mythical Outlander character of her own. In order to get her friend off her back, she pays (?!) handsome bartender Galen to be her boyfriend while her friends visit. And alas, we all know how the plot goes from here. It's not a terrible book, it's just been done too many times over to make it new and fresh. But again, if you just want a quick romance read, go for it.

Sloane goes into Galen's pub daily. He has the best WI-FI and cell service. The only way she can stay in touch with her life in the States. She tells him her ideas to improve his pub while she is there. He very much hates that she has all these ideas. He is annoyed by these daily conversations.

Galen is trying to make it work. He has the pub that was his Grandfather's. His family gives him little to no help and thinks he is crazy for trying. He left his job as a solicitor to make this happen. Now he has a crazy American woman offering him a deal.

This story was so fun to read. There was a lot of humor. I enjoyed the banter, and the heat was literally of the charts HOT! I found myself rooting for this couple early on. They really were the perfect set of opposites attract.

Loved this! I was offered this book as a second look book from the publisher. The description drew me in and it was worth it.

Sloane takes a trip to Scotland. Tells her obnoxious friends its to find her "Jamie Fraser". When they decide to tag along she arrives before them in the hopes of finding a new boyfriend and breaking up with him all before they get there. She ropes Galen the local pub owner she butts heads with, with the promise of enough money to help save the pub.

Sloane definitely comes off as a privileged princess and the more time she spends with Galen help her relax. Galen has a way of making her feel free. Sloane's friends were so annoying! With friends that butt in like that who needs enemies. I enjoyed this book it was fun and sweet. I hated to put it down.

The Perfect Bargain by author Jess McAdams was hilarious reading. I did not think much of Sloan's 'friends' in the narrative, however, Galen - whoa. Sloan and Galen were fireworks personified. The story kind of reminded me of another version of the Leap Year movie, only it was set in Scotland, not Ireland, and the female lead had a boyfriend already, and - well... I did say an alternate version :) Nevertheless, the story had many hilarious moments which were undeniably worth the read. Ticked the box for entertaining reading for certain.

This was an ok read for me. It was a quick read that had plenty of heat. Sloane and Galen were a cute couple. She fled to Scotland after her fiancé left her at the altar. She meets Galen at a pub that he owns and they don’t really hit it off at first. She offers him money as an investment to help his pub in exchange for him to be a fake boyfriend for when her friends get there. Can what starts as a fake relationship turn into something real? This story just didn’t speak to me but it may to others.

I’ve seen a lot of very harsh reviews of this book. Was it classic literature...no. Was it plausible, not really. But then again, are most romance books plausible? Have you ever met a couple that fell in love in a few weeks? Who were completely mismatched in both character and background? Or a woman who gives up a privileged life to run a Scottish pub?
Me either. But I thought this was a decently written romance. Sure, it had a few flaws, but it was lighthearted and fun. Sloan unbuttoned enough to be more approachable. Galen became less grumpy and more like the sexy Scot Sloan’s went to Scotland hoping to find.
I will say that I didn’t like her snobby, pushy friends much at all. And Sloan should have punched a certain someone in the nose. But overall, not a bad read. I can’t find any other books in this series, so I’m not sure if London put it on the back burner. But don’t give up on the author, I’m sure you’ll appreciate some of her other books more.

I really wanted to like this book, but as I was reading it, I became frustrated with the way she made Galen speak. I’m from Scotland and no one says ‘donna’ instead of don’t., it’s ‘dinnae’....... she made him feel like a caricature of a Scot...and it ruined it for me.

After being dumped by her fiance, Sloane runs off to Scotland. Her plan is to find a man and plit up with him before her friends arrive in a few weeks time. This will surely put them off matchmaking her back hom in Chicago.

But life doesn't go to plan. In the village pub she meets Galen, he wants no part of her plan, but when she offers him cash he can't turn it down. Will they manage to break up before her friends arrive though?

A fun and entertaining read.

Sloane had her heart broken by her fiance just weeks before the wedding and has been a little sad since, and her best friends seeing the way she was had put it in their heads that she need to go out more. She don't want that so when she bumps into Galen on her trip in Scotland she asks him if he would pretend to be her lovestruck boyfriend in front of her friends. At first he thinks she is crazy but after some thinking agrees to the bargain with her.
This was a cute book, in the beginning i had some trouble liking the characters but later as the story was going on they grew on me.

This was a dnf, I could not connect with the characters and the storyline was unable to hold my interest. I am only rating it because I am being made to so I can leave my feedback.

I didn't like either the hero or the heroine. They were annoying. I didn't finish the book but deleted it.
