This post-apocalyptical book had horror, sci-fi, and action. It took a little bit of effort to get into the book, then I was hooked and had to find out what happened next. Borrowing from pop culture, but taking the narrative away from a direct parody or satire, this book looks at how our planet and society will unravel if we continue polluting, consuming, and seeking out the latest and greatest technology. But it doesn't ever get preachy, even when absurd characters like the Astronaut try to save stainless steel pots and pans because "no one appreciates what they have". It's bizarre, but hopeful. Scary but humorous. I kept thinking that this should be a movie, and if there is a follow-up book, then I demand to see this as a series because there are so many great elements that would make a fantastic sci-fi action series.
