This was so adorable! I didn't love the cover and I don't think the cover did the story justice! I would like to see more books in this series if the author ever decides to make it a series. It was heartwarming and sweet, I think it had a lot of good messages for kids and adults.

Though the story didn’t fully capture my personal taste, I found it cute and appreciated the wonderful graphics. I look forward to exploring more from this author.

Everything about this book was okay for me. The storyline, the characters, the art, the queer representation...it's an alright middle grade graphic with gay representation (though it's of note that I don't remember any of the characters actually saying gay, queer, etc.).

First Kiss with Fangs by Marker Snyder was such a fun, sweet read! The mix of a first romance and supernatural vibes made for a super engaging story. The artwork was full of personality and charm. I loved the characters (and their awkward, adorable moments), and the humor had me smiling the whole way through. It was the perfect mix of funny, cute, and heartfelt. Big thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy! I had such a great time reading it! Solid 4 stars from me, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for whatever Snyder does next. I plan to purchase and recommend this title for my library's collection.

First Kiss with Fangs is a sweet coming of age middle grade graphic novel. It's told from the perspective of thirteen year-old Ivan who is dreading the day his adult fangs come in, and much to his disappointment, they are coming in FAST. This new development causes a rift between his life in the human world as he tries to hide who he really is from his friends. As if things couldn't get any worse, Ivan also has mad cravings, and this is amplified when he runs into Damien, the new kid at school. Torn between his vampiric nature and who he desires to be, Ivan navigates this new phase in life with fainting spells, anxiety, and ultimately, bravery.
I really liked this one! The novel is a vehicle for a HUGE metaphor: puberty and the anxiety that comes with a changing body. Middle schoolers will relate to Ivan and see themselves reflected especially when navigating the social norms of school. The friendships highlighted in this story is also one that I love to see. There are moments where Ivan hiding who he is causes a rift between his friends and they are mad, rightly so. But at the end of the day, they are supportive and loyal, being there for Ivan when he needs it the most. Lastly, let's talk about that subtle queer representation. It truly is quite sweet and wholesome, relying on transparency to be honest of one's truth.
For the art style, Snyder uses the crisp colors of blue and yellow to distinctly draw readers to differentiate between vampires and humans. It's simple and directs readers to pay more attention to the narrative.
Overall, First Kiss With Fangs is a wonderfully sweet coming of age debut perfect for middle schoolers navigating their next stage in life.

A sweet little coming of age story about a vegan vampire (no, not THAT one!) and his journey to fitting in, in both the human and vampire worlds. I thought this was really cute, and a nice option for those who want to get into the Halloween spirit without nightmares.

First Kiss With Fangs was iconic on an unlimited number of levels. Thirteen year old Ivan is fighting for his life to fit in in a family of vampires, but a school filled with regular kids. When his worst nightmare happens and his adult fangs drop in, he has to figure out how he’s going to face he consequences of growing up and the changes it entails!!! This is a wonderful story of puberty, friendship, magic, and a little queer love story on the side. The art is monochromatic at points, with splashes of different colors representing different things. The illustrative style is cartoonish, childish and silly, and JUST right for this incredibly fun and whimsical tale of coming of age.
This will be a heavy recommend for me! I foresee a book club meeting in my future as well.

First Kiss with Fangs is an adorable story about a vampire trying to fit in. The illustrations were cute and nostalgic in my opinion. Even though Ivan's issues primarily extend from growing into being a vampire, the themes of fitting in and finding your own path will be relatable to younger readers I enjoyed reading it and think that others will too!

I liked the overall idea of the story, but the main character was a little annoying (yes, kids/teens can be dramatic, but still…), especially his behaviour towards his friends.
The art style was simple and not particularly outstanding.
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy.

This one was just....odd? It's a MG graphic novel about a young vampire who is afraid to admit what he is to his human friends. His parents, of course, consistently pressure him to be more vampire-like, something the MC very much doesn't want to do. When his adult fangs grow in and he finds himself persistently drawn to a new classmate, the MC decides to retreat into the world of teen vampires to protect his new friend. Over time the MC finds a way to bridge both worlds. The vampirism is coded for homosexuality, which seems clever until the character ends up in a same sex relationship without seeming to realize it which was just sort of a weird choice. The artistic style is spare and not particularly to my liking, but opinions on this will obviously differ.
