A new SEP is cause for celebration. She writes contemporary romance that is so refreshing because she's not afraid of making her MCs flawed and relatable. No bland characters in the SEP world. There is actual conflict, there's chemistry, there's banter. There's an excellent dog.

*And the Crowd Went Wild* by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a fun, feel-good novella with all the charm and sass you’d expect from her. It’s a quick read, but packed with snappy dialogue, quirky characters, and a sweet romance that hits the spot. The story moves fast, but there’s still enough depth to care about the characters and their happily ever after. If you love SEP’s signature mix of humor and heart—and need a short, satisfying escape—this one’s a total treat.

I loved the book “And the Crowd Went Wild” by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I wait patiently for the new book to be released. I love football. 🏈 These books take a little football, a little glamour and a lot of romance and turn the book into a hit. I love reading Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This book might even top First Star I See Tonight.

This book was everything I wanted and needed — AND MORE! It was as well crafted as I expected of a Susan Elizabeth Phillips book and the story sucked me in from the first page, I could barely put it down. Darcey and Clint were perfectly drawn characters and their actions stayed true to the expectations for those characters built by the author. The words flowed like water running down a waterfall.

I highly recommend this book for any that love love stories with great characters and character development, that want a believable story with an ending that makes sense for the characters.

It is among my favorite Susan Elizabeth Phillips books, no question!

I am a big fan of author Susan Elizabeth Phillips and have read just about all of her books. This story drew me right in. The wit and banter between Darcy and Clint had me giggling throughout the story. I absolutely loved the puppy, Watch. I highly recommend reading it. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for the advance reader's copy, and I am leaving an honest review.

I love second chance romances. After a very public embarrassment, Hollywood star Dancy goes to stay with her ex, Clint, who is now an NFL star. And that’s when all her adventures begin. The book is not really about getting back together with an ex, but more about finding yourself and figuring out your path in life. It’s about picking yourself up after your career and personal life fall apart. I really enjoyed the book.

Overall a cute read. I feel like would’ve enjoyed it more had I been caught up on the previous books in the series. This was my first read from the author.

Dancy Flynn's career is basically over. She's a famous actress, and even more famous for being married to her ex-husband, an action hero movie star. After a difficult divorce, she becomes internet-infamous after standing up and making a drunken speech at a gala where her ex and his newly pregnant, much younger wife are sitting at the next table. She flees to the remote Wisconsin lake home of Clint Garret, a star football player, who was her high school boyfriend. Dancy needs to get her career on track, and Clint needs to focus on football if he is to have any success. They also hate each other, but manage eventually to overcome that. Although this book is part of the Chicago Stars series, it easily stands alone. It's romantic, funny, and full of heart. The fast-paced plot keeps the pages turning, and readers will fall in love with Dancy and Clint, and root for them to get together, in spite of all the obstacles they both manage to throw up. I look forward to recommending this title, especially to readers who enjoy books by Elin Hilderbrand and Emily Henry.

4 stars out of 5.

I thought this book was pretty good. This book is in a series (I didn't know) and I thought it could be read as a standalone. Dancy was a great character and I absolutely loved her. She really grew into herself by the end of the book. I thought Clint could have been developed more but I did like Dancy and Clints dynamic. The ending was perfect for the book. If you are looking for a fun easy read with a happy ending, look no further.

In And the Crowd Went Wild, Dancy is trying to make a comeback in Hollywood after her divorce from Roth, one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. She suffers a public humiliation and retreats to her high school boyfriend, Clint's secluded lake house. Clint was not happy to see her due to the nature of their break up all those years ago. He reluctantly lets her stay and their relationship seems to be blossoming again.

Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Great summer story. It wasn’t too heavy or too light and fluffy. Dandy was flawed, but in a way that was relatable. That is hard to pull off honestly when the person is so perfect in other ways that I would typically find unrelateable. I could have done away with the Bisa friendship. It didn’t add anything to the story. I wasn’t a fan of the names chosen for the male and female leads either, but it didn’t bother me enough to not finish the story.

As soon as I finished reading And The Crowd Goes Wild I wanted to start back with page one and re immerse myself in the lives of Clint, the current Chicago Stars quarterback and his high school love Darcy. As always Susan Elizabeth Phillips, the queen of romance, writes characters you really care about. You're rooting them on to find happiness. The book also features a love able rescue dog and many references to the Gertrude Chandler Warner book The Boxcar Children. I mean, how much more could you ask for?

Actress Dancy Flynn is desperate to find a hiding place after her public humiliation. What better than the secluded lake house of her former high school boyfriend. Clint Garrett is no longer the guy who Dancy duped in high school but a star quarterback for the Chicago Stars. Holding a grudge he won’t allow her in his house but offers her his refurbished railroad caboose. As Dancy attempts to get her life back on track and Clint tries to get his football groove back can they built a friendship and maybe more,

Thanks to Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Avon and Harper Voyager!

I always enjoy Susan Elizabeth Philip’s Chicago Stars Series, they always have very thought out characters! Clint Garrett, the current Chicago Stars quarterback spends his time not in season at his secluded lake house, while his high school ex- Dancy Flynn a hollywood has been, who gave it all up for her (now) ex-husband, the power couple of hollywood before he left her for a younger woman, and she now needs a place to hide away.

This couple who was barely a couple in high school with a jagged past, Clint wouldn’t sleep with her so she tried to make him jealous and ends up sleeping with someone else, then was outcast by him and his crew, when there is so much more to the story. I loved how they unpacked there past and created a solid friendship when he lets her stay in a old boxcar… One of the things that I loved the most about this story was that it really takes advantage of the lovely setting of the lake and the dock and the pool! I love all the details, including when he does his swim across the lake and back she freaks out gets in a kayak to goes with him and in the chaos the dog Watch wants to be in the water! Speaking out I loved the side story lines both with Erin, but my favorite was the dog she rescued “Watch” and how he had a fun, enjoyable personality of his own.

This is a very fun engaging slow burn which still has SEP’s usually five star banter! Also, really enjoyed the Boxcar children references and quotes!

Full Disclosure this was an Arc (free) I received from #AvonBooks and #NetGalley in exchange for my personal and honest review. Also, Contains light spoilers but nothing big.. But I still have it pre-ordered both physical copy and Audio this series is that good but I would start at book one!!!

I haven't loved the last few Chicago Stars books, but I still enjoyed them. And the Crowd Went Wild felt a bit more like some of the early books in the series. I wish there had been a little more with previous characters.

I’ve read every book in this series, and SEP never misses. Honestly, she’s the OG sports romance writer, and here we are 20+ years later, and her books still hit.

The chemistry, the banter, the emotional build-up, it’s all there. SEP just gets how to write romance. Her characters are always layered, funny, a little messy, and somehow totally real. I’m obsessed with how she still brings fresh energy to a story while keeping that classic SEP vibe we all love.

Thank you NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for the advanced copy!

I absolutely adore Susan Elizabeth Phillips, and her Chicago Stars series will forever hold a special place on my favorites shelf. So the moment And the Crowd Went Wild hit my hands, it rocketed straight to the top of my TBR and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked. The characters felt instantly real and relatable, and I was all-in on the emotional journey they were about to take. I’ve always had a soft spot for second-chance romances, and no one writes them quite like Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She’s the queen of heartfelt storytelling, masterfully blending deep emotion with just the right amount of humor and charm.

This book had me laughing out loud one minute and clutching my heart the next. The emotional pull was so real-it tugged on every heartstring in the best possible way. There were swoony moments, angsty twists, and those romantic sparks that make you fall in love right along with the characters.

If you’re craving a romance that’s funny, emotional, deeply romantic, and utterly unputdownable, And the Crowd Went Wild is an absolute must-read. Five stars just aren’t enough—I’d give it all the stars in the sky!

This was a really good book. I have read most of the books in the series, I need to finish reading them all. This book was funny, heartwarming, and romantic. I liked the dog in it. I thought he was adorable and a troublemaker. The ending turned out great. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
