We return to Balsam Dells and find Grilled Cheese Restaurant owner Carly Hale working a booth at the high school fundraiser while also finishing last minute wedding details for her upcoming wedding to local electrician, Ari. Ari sister has also arrived in town with a little girl, Quinne, she is trying to adopt and with some personal difficulties. If all that wasn't enough, one of the other booth operators at the fundraiser ends up dead and Carly's mom is the prime suspect! Can Carly find the real killer and keep her mom out of jail in time for the wedding?

What a fun read. that will you with a warm feeling and a smile. I enjoy all the secondary characters and as they all have personalities that really add to the story. The staff at the restaurant are like a family and it was nice to see glimpses of what is going on with them during the story. I also felt that that showing Brice, our victim, as a fleshed-out character who besides someone having a reason (in their mind) to kill him, he also wasn't totally a villain was a nice twist. The mystery had me guessing Just when I thought I knew, then they had an alibi. There were so many things I loved about this book and really no criticisms except I want the next one tomorrow! I thought Quinne was so precious and I really hope we get to see more of her. Havarti, as always, brings the cuteness!

Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page for the opportunity read this ARC and give my opinion.

Carly is happy to be a part of a fundraiser for the local high school who is trying to raise money for some repairs. She gets set up and all is going well until the vendor next to her shows up. The man ends up being rude as well as a bully which sets off Carly's mom. She goes off on the man causing a scene but not long after everyone goes back to what they were doing. When the bully is found dead having been strangled with Carly's moms scarf she knows she is going to have to investigate. She soon finds out that the dead man had quite a few enemies and now she just has to figure out who among them is the killer. Will she find the murderer before someone else ends up dead?

I adore this series, but what’s not to love. It’s has fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, a wonderful cast of characters, murder, mystery, and a charming small town atmosphere!

When a bully at the local fundraising event turns up dead, Carly jumps in to solve the murder (and to clear her mother’s name).

This story was packed with twists and turns, and the author writes in a way that you can solve the mystery alongside Carly. There were a couple of red herrings, but it was fun to put the pieces of the story together.

I loved the addition of Ari’s sister and his sister’s niece. It added another mystery (and complication to Ari and Carly’s lives), but made for such a sweet and heartwarming read.

I think this may be my favorite in the series so far- I can’t wait for the next. Thank you to #NetGalley and #BeyondthePagePublishing for an ARC.

It seems no good deed goes on punished. When the town comes together to help raise funds for a new floor and the high school gym, Carly joins in and serves at 50 style grilled cheese sandwiches. Unfortunately, the vendor in the booth next to them turns out to be a real jerk. But when he is murdered, it’s Carly‘s mom who is the main suspect.

Can Carly figure out who the murderer is and save her mother from being tried for a murder she didn’t commit? Carly will have to assemble the clothes and grill the suspects so that she can serve up the killer on a platter to the police. Unless, the killer turns the tables Carly first.

I’ve been reading this series since it first came out and it is absolutely delicious. As delicious as an gooey grilled cheese sandwich fresh off the grill. Come for the cozy mystery, but make sure you stay for the recipes at the end. You won’t be disappointed at all.

Carly is volunteering her food/time to help raise money for new school gym floor. When a grumpy fellow volunteer gets in their faces, Carly’s mom gives him a piece of her mind. Unfortunately that’s puts her on the top of the suspect list when the unlikable pop seller winds up dead. Add in a family issue in her finance’s family & the fact that their wedding is only a month away, Carly has her hands full.

This is an incredibly charming series, the idea of a grilled cheese eatery is perfect for cozies. The supporting cast of characters are strong, which is always a good thing for these kinds of series. I feel it gets stronger & better with each book. This has a fantastic twisty conclusion, one of the best one in the series. And there’s a lot of forward motion when it comes to the character development. Lots of changes, but good ones. I can easily recommend this book & the whole series.

Edam and Weep is book 6 in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries series by Linda Reilly. I have read the entire series, and each one is a great cozy mystery.
Carly Hale owns a Grilled Cheese café in Balsam Dell Vermont, and she is surrounded by great characters in each book.
The local high school is holding a fundraiser and Carly is eager to help all she can. She knows selling Grilled Cheese sandwiches will be a hit.
Then it happens – one of the other venders turns up dead and her mother is eyed as the guilty person. This cozy mystery had me glued to the pages until the very end!
Thank you NetGalley, Linda Reilly and Beyond the Page Publishing the the ARC of Edam and Weep. This is my personal review.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Linda Reilly for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Edam and Weep coming out July 22, 2025. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I really love this series! Cozy mysteries are one of my favorite genres! Carly is a fun character and she has a lot of supportive people in her life. I loved the mystery. I love the food involved as well. I would definitely check out more books by this author!

I was excited to read this ARC because of the dog on the cover and the blurb. The premise sounded like a fun cozy mystery. Unfortunately, I DNFd it at 66% because the child in the book was progressively more annoying. There was also strong "copaganda" with the protagonist claiming that one should never doubt a cop, and getting upset when a lawyer advised for a search warrant to always be requested. Additionally, the main character's constant inner monologue on how she can be happy only if she has a child with her fiancé, nevermind that she has a full and busy life with a successful business, became annoying. I was expecting a well-developed main character who had personality and wit. Instead, the protagonist pushed the idea of police superiority and what is seen to often regarding women being incomplete until they they become pregnant and become mothers.
Heavily disappointed and I just couldn't read anymore. The only good thing that I got from this is that it made me hungry for a grilled cheese and I got up and made myself one.

Edam and Weep is my favorite book in Linda Reilly's Grilled Cheese Mysteries, at least so far. Carly and Ari are excited about and focused on their wedding that is only a month away, until that is murder hits close to home as Carly's mother is a prime suspect in the death. Naturally Carly is ready to switch her full attention to finding out who really killed the bully who tried to push her around at a fundraiser for the school, an incident that fueled her mother's ire to the point that she spewed her anger publicly in a world filled with cameras and social media. Before grilled cheese master gets a start on looking into the murder, Ari's sister shows up with her ex-husband's adorable, orphaned stepdaughter in tow. It is obvious that something big is bothering his sister Leslie, but she is reluctant to share her secrets. There is no doubt that a wedding is in the offing. The question is, how happy and occasion can it be it too much is still hanging over their heads.
The team as the grill, including Grant who is on break, as always covers for Carly so she can investigate and prepare for her wedding. I love those guys!
As much as I loved the whole story, the surprise second half of their honeymoon is my favorite thing. It fits both Carly and Ari perfectly.
Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for allowing me to read an ARC of this wonderful cozy mystery. Edam and Weep brings all the elements of a cozy mystery together to make this book a great place to visit as well as providing a strong mystery.

This is one of my favorite food cozy mysteries series. The overall plot and mystery progression was well developed and written nicely. I enjoyed the sub plot of characters as well. I did feel like this was a set up to wrap the series but I am sure our protagonist Carly might have more adventures.

It was so awesome what Carly and Ari did for Ari’s sister and the little girl she was trying to adopt by taking them in when they were a little down on their luck. Little Quinne was wise beyond her age and really grew on me as a character. I was definitely pulling for the adoption to go through and that they’d get to come live in Vermont—the kid was seriously over the moon about Carly’s little dog Havarti. They were best buds!

The murder mystery hit close to home for Carly who found herself investigating since her mom was a suspect. She did try to make good choices and take someone along with her when she’d sleuth, but there’s always that one time…and of course she found herself in a showdown with the killer. I’d guessed part of who was guilty and as always, Carly alway amazes me with her guts and bravery to plow into any situation, lol.

The book had the most amazing ending and I just wanted it to keep going, definitely a great book hangover! I’m not totally sure, but this almost seemed like it could be the last book, although I could think of more adventures I’d like to hear about now there’s two new characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed and ARC of this book provided by Beyond the Page Publishing via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

I think this was my favorite in the series!!

I got the first book in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries Series as a blind date with a book, and enjoyed it so much that I continued to read all the rest in the series. I was so excited when I got approved for the ARC of the latest!

Carly once again finds herself in the middle of helping to solve a murder, but this time it is personal. While I really enjoyed the mystery part and did not see the end coming, my favorite parts of the story where when Carly was interacting with her family and friends. It felt like this time we really got more of the back story to everyone else in Balsam Dell.

Edam and Weep is book #6 in the Grilled Cheese Mysteries series by Linda Reilly.

Carly is selling grilled cheese sandwiches at the local high school fundraiser with her mom helping. There is a ride man in the booth next to them and finally Carly’s mom gets into it with him. Unfortunately for her, he turns up dead, and she is the prime suspect. Carly has a lot going on with running her business, her upcoming wedding, hosting her future sister-in-law and clearing her mother’s name. I enjoy this book and am a fan of the whole series. The mystery is interesting but the characters are my favorite part. Be prepared to be craving cheese by the time you finish this book. There are a couple of recipes at the end that I definitely will be trying out.

Thank you to the author, Beyond the Page, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I really love this series. In this one Carly, the great amateur sleuth is preparing for her wedding to Ari. and she is also selling her grilled cheese sandwiches at the high school,l fund raiser. She enlists the help of her mother , Natalie. They find themselves stuck beside an aggressively rude vendor . He upsets Natalie and she gives him the what for and thought that would be the end of it. but later that day he is found dead. No Caely is sleuthing as she knows her mother did not do it. Also at this time, Ari's sister and her niece come to town. Carly invites them to stay at their house. so much going on. This one that I didn't know who did it until the end. A VERY GOOD COZY MYSTERY.

A character driven cosy murder mystery that is oozing with cheesy goodness.

There isn't that much investigating - this book is about the characters, a slice of life that just happens to take place during a murder investigation. What does take place is conversations between various suspects. And there is my main issue with the book. Everyone lies. Even her mum, everyone lies about everything, even when they have no good reason to, which is frustrating and drags it out for no good reason.

The killer was a little abstract but I was able to work it out before the main characters. I enjoyed the red herrings and actually was unsure for a bit before settling on the right suspect. It's just a shame our MFC didn't twig until it was almost too late - then again, that is what usually happens in these books so its not too much of a surprise.

The characters are where the story shines. They are all engaging and in the case of Quinne, downright adorable. It's very easy to get invested in these characters and their lives, to hope that things turn out alright for them, even though you know they will.

And the food. Oh my the food. I don't know how all the characters manage to have such good complexions and figures with the amount of grilled cheeses, pies and other delicious food they are almost constantly eating. It made me so hungry while reading, which is what I'm going to take away from this. A perfectly fine story that made me crave cheese.

I really enjoyed Edam and Weep by Linda Reilly.
With a charming cast of characters and a compelling mystery, this story was a great read.
It's a good mystery, with great writing and likeable characters. I highly recommend and can't wait for the next book!

The sixth addition to this series does not disappoint. Ms. Reilly has created a wonderful series centered in the culinary cozy sub-theme. As someone who is not a cook, I love this theme in the cozy mystery genre, especially when recipes are included. In this entry, we get to visit with favorite characters who are experiencing a special time in their lives. Ms. Reilly also introduces us to two new characters and takes us on a wonderful adventure with plenty of twists, turns and red herrings. A wonderful series and I enjoy each book.

Edam and Weep by Linda Reilly. When a fundraiser turns fatal, Carly Hale is confronted by a trail of clues that all point to her mother as the culprit . . .

The family and community elements in this story are well-developed and play a significant role in the narrative. I really like the characters in this series and they are what have made me fall in love with it. Especially the Protagonist Carly, her bff Gina, and her co-workers Suzanne, Valerie, Nina and Don. Plus two new ones, Ari's sister and the little girl Quinne who she is hoping to adopt. I am personally hoping they become part of the main cast.

The mystery was interesting and there are plenty of red herrings, and twists to keep you wanting to find out what will happen next.

I read the book in one day, but you will crave a grilled cheese while reading the book, I know I did. Luckily there are recipes at the back. I cant wait for the 7th instalment to see what happens next on the honeymoon. I highly recommend this to cozy lovers.

I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from Beyond the Page and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.25 stars
Carly Hale, the owner of Carly’s Grilled Cheese Eatery in Balsam Dell, Vermont, is helping out at a fundraiser for the local high school. Her mom, Rhonda, is also happy to be helping for this worthy cause. Before it even gets started, Brice Keaton, who is selling sodas in the booth next to Carly, starts complaining and bossing people around. When he crosses a line with Carly. Rhonda swoops in and is overheard warning the bully to stay away from her daughter. When Brice is found dead in the school's locker room, Rhonda becomes the prime suspect. Carly has to juggle her restaurant, dealing with unexpected houseguests, making final arrangements for her upcoming wedding to Ari Mitchell, and proving her mom's innocence. There are a lot of new characters in this book, which is the 6th in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series. Many of them are unpleasant, so at first it was hard to say who the real killer was. However, I'm proud to say I caught onto an important clue before Carly did, but there was more to the reveal than I had figured out.

Two new characters who were never suspects are Ari's sister and 8-year-old niece. His sister Leslie comes on really strong at the beginning, but does soften. I was disappointed that they pretty much take over the story, and there aren't as many scenes with Carly and her staff, her best friend, Gina, or her sister Norah. Even most of Carly's scenes with Ari also have Leslie and Quinne in them. Happily, there is a sweet, satisfying ending to the book. However, I am not sure parts are hinting at things to come or if the author was wrapping up the series. (I hope we get more of Carly and her wonderful grilled cheese concoctions!)

Thank you, NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for the review copy of this ebook. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

Carly and Ari are getting married in a month, but his sister shows up and life gets complicated. Then Carly's mom is the main suspect in a murder. Can Carly juggle it all? You'll have to read it to find out! I enjoyed this visit to Vermont and the grilled cheese shop. The characters are like old friends. A good mystery, An interesting twist at the end.
I received an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a review.
