I know amnesia is a kind of divisive trope, but I admit to loving it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Accidental Rewrite. Polly was a really engaging main character and I was rooting for her throughout. I thought this book was fun, with some interesting twists and turns I didn't foresee. I felt like Johnson did a good job of creating enjoyable characters and a finely woven story.

Accidental Rewrite by Milly Johnson starts off funny and lighthearted, with some genuinely entertaining moments. But as the story unfolds, the plot begins to lose steam, and the amnesia storyline—while promising at first—never really delivers.

Polly Potter is moving through her life. She has a handsome boyfriend, who takes her for granted. She works for a company that is thriving, by stealing her ideas and giving credit to the men in the organization. The one thing she has going for her is her writing group. She loves her Monday night meetings where she is able to pour out her ideas and hopes onto the page. When her boss instructs her to do all the work on a project and then hand it over to the boy they just hired she explodes and quits. The problem is she is planning on leaving her useless boyfriend as well, after his sister's vow renewal ceremony, or so she thinks. Polly ends up leaving in a rush. She only takes what fits in her car and leaves in a hurry. When she stops to get something to eat, and is waiting for the owner of the food truck to come back she is robbed and knocked out. When she awakes she thinks she is Sabrina Anderson, the heroine of her story. What follows is a lovely story of found friendship, found love, found life, and found freedom. Milly Johnson writes sweet characters that you can't help but fall in love with.

The Accidental Rewrite was such a warm, uplifting read! The book took its sweet time to get going, but it was worth getting through. I absolutely love a romance set in England. Polly waking up with amnesia and stumbling into Sabrina, her cheerfully rebellious alter ego, is oddly freeing and relatable, like watching a friend dare to rewrite her own script. The coastal town welcomes them with a cozy, small‑town heartbeat, where found family and simple kindness do more lifting than grand gestures. The light-hearted corrections in the newspaper were cute and occasionally made me chuckle out loud. I loved how Polly/Sabrina navigate memory, identity, and what it means to choose the life you want, even when parts of you aren’t sure you’re allowed to. It’s hopeful, gently funny, and full of women lifting each other up, a reminder that warmth and wit can carry you through the storm.

Wow. Just. Wow. I just finished this book and I feel like I can take on anything that life throws at me because of my new friend Polly/Sabrina, the main character. I loved this book so much. It has romance, a little mystery, some unsavory but hilarious characters, truly good people and a happy ending. Colleen Prendergast, the narrator, added so much to the book. Her voice is unique and nice to listen to and she somehow captures the tones and qualities of each character so that the listener feels like they are in the characters' heads. I love to read and I read so many books that I sometimes forget the plots, characters, etc. This is a book that will stay with me for a long, long time. It was excellent!

Thoroughly enjoyed Polly’s story with all its ups and downs! In between Polly’s timeline there are other characters that are woven into the story who are given their own povs. This worked well, although I think one of the supporting characters was featured a bit too much and wasn’t really necessary.
Excerpts from The Daily Trumpet, a local newspaper in the story, feature regularly through the book and these make for a good giggle.
The audiobook was easy to listen to and I found myself wanting to get back to it to see what happened next.
Overall I thought it a good, witty, feel good read and will read more by Milly Johnson if I get a chance.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Muse for the audiobook arc for review.

Gosh I almost never ever do this but I couldn’t finish this one and so I don’t know how to really rate this. I just know this one wasn’t for me. The beginning felt like a lot of rambling and I also felt like at the start of the book I was missing some information. I guess this story wasn’t a good fit.

An accidental rewrite that turn into purpose.
This book started very slow for me. At times I wanted to push it aside. I continued on hoping it would get better. I’m happy I did. The story picked up and gained my interest. In the end I was happy I stuck with it. Polly/ Sabrina got exactly what she deserved.
Thank you Harper Muse and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this ARC.

The Accidental Rewrite is Milly Johnson at her warm-and-witty best. It’s got the cozy seaside vibes, and the kind of characters you want to be friends with. It’s like a rom-com with a side of fish and chips: satisfying, a little indulgent, and guaranteed to leave you smiling. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrator and the fmc I loved the idea of having a redo and feeling like you could be your favorite fmc! So cute so cozy and a quick listen

This was such a cute romcom! Good for a refreshing palette cleanser between reads. Genuinely had me laughing through out with the banter. A nice cozy British read!
Enjoyed the narration a lot. The narrators voice was easy to follow and didn’t have trouble identifying change in characters.
Thank you netgalley for the alc!
