I liked this book, it was entertaining, our hero jack was a little bit of a rogue, with his earring and his love for his little daughter. Ella was also pretty amazing, Spunky and charming and totally smitten by thee wrong guy atleast at first.

A solid regency romance novel.

I could not put this book DOWN! Thorne masterfully crafts her characters, breathing life into them with depth and authenticity. Super funny and captivating! Who knew Cricket could be so entertaining. Super funny and captivating! Who knew Cricket could be so entertaining?!? I cannot wait for more.

Match Made in Heaven was a fantastic addition to The Cricket Club Series. I have not read all of the books in the series, but they are on my TBR list as Margaux Thorne is an author I do not want to skip. Free ARC for honest review from NetGalley.

Match Made in Heaven. Oh, how disappointed I find myself in learning this is book five in The Cricket Club series. Because I loved this book so much, I will have to go back and read the others I missed. I did read book 4, The Lucky Catch, it didn't speak to me as much as this one did. I will go back and read them from the beginning, one because I enjoyed this one so much, and tow because I clearly missed something.

This book brings all the memories of the first time I read my first historical romance by Kathleen E Woodiwiss, The Flame and the Flower. The descriptive words which evoke strong feelings made me fall in love with this book and author. She weaves a tale that draws you in from the first few pages. While there is plenty of dialogue, it is the strong descriptive story telling that carries the story. While reading it, you may believe this was taken from the movies While you were sleeping and Snow White. But in my opinion, it is so much more and am thrilled to have been able to read this love story.

I had mixed feelings about this novel, which is based on the plot of the film While You Were Sleeping. Although Lady Ella does not set out to deceive the Duke of Hawkridge's family, nevertheless, she finds it increasingly difficult to own up to the misunderstanding that occurred. She is not helped by her ambitious mother, and when Lord Oliver's Grandmother becomes involved, it becomes even more difficult to extricate herself from the coil she is in. Lord Oliver's brother, Jack, is suspicious of Ella, even though he also comes under her spell. When the truth eventually comes to light, Ella finds more acceptance than she thought, but unfortunately, her mother has no intention of giving up her ambitions for her daughter. The novel is a standalone and comes to a sweet conclusion, although not everyone is happy with the outcome. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This book might be part of the Cricket club series but no game is played this time. Our heroine in this historical romance is a part of the ladies cricket club but has something else, or should I say someone else on her mind. I will not tell you anything about the hero because that might spoil the story for you. Needless to say he is a larger than life character. They have an emotional and highly enjoyable journey to their happy ever after. Life and death actions and surprising feats of strength and recovery play a big part.
Great fun.

I didn’t know this was a retelling of while you were sleeping but imagine my absolute delight when I realized it. (I don’t actually read what the books are about I mostly go on cover). I loved this such a good retelling with some changes to make it unique and no third act break up. Jack and Ella are so cute together. I don’t think it was as funny as the movie but I loved reading this and it flew by. I liked how much cricket meant to Ella even if it was less focused I think in this book than others, that was really sweet.

Oh and the epilogue made me smile.

I adore this series as it started by taking a sport and giving new life to historical romance. Now in book 5, we have Ella who saves a duke and is mixed up about the overall outcome. Humorous and witty, a lively twist on an old movie. I loved the movie and have used it to picture the characters in my mind while I enjoyed reading the story set in a different place and time. Love it!

Wow, this book was hot!! And the most creative way of getting married, I've ever seen too! Elle saves a guy that she thinks she's love with from drowning. He ends up in a coma. Elle falls in love with his brother Jack. Lord, that dude was hot. And a filthy mouth too. This has been an excellent series so far. Good job!

Thank you to Dragonblade for the copy of this book. Opinions are my own.

A Victorian "While You Were Sleeping...."

This, I think, is a first. A Victorian retelling of "While You Were Sleeping." Its such a great movie. Here, just the basics are premise. Ella, saves Oliver from his bad judgement and his younger brother Jack comes to collect her. Only, Ella is drunk for some reason. Jack ran off to sail the seas. His brother is to be the duke. Ella is infatuated with Oliver. But its the prickly, argumentative Jack, that she's sparring with and falling for. Naturally.

A well-written sweet story about the girl who thought she wanted the duke but ended up finding love with his brother. I will be honest and say that it could’ve been concluded at the 70% mark and the final act angst wasn’t fleshed out the best. However, it’s still a cute read and I’ll be going back to read a couple of others in the series. I hope FMCs sisters feature in some of them, especially Cordelia and her himbo.

I’m looking forward to the next installation which I assume will be about the duke and Lady Jo. I only hope it’s gonna be a novella since it seems like most of their story has already been told.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the ARC!

A marvellous ‘While You Were Sleeping’ retelling!

She’s the viscount’s daughter, youngest of five, who’s been mooning over her fairytale duke for months when his phaeton crashes, right in front of her, and he ends up nearly drowning. She’s the one to save him, but also the numpty who accidentally told bystanders she was going to marry him.
He’s the younger brother and self-made shipping magnate summoned home in a panicked frenzy after the duke doesn’t wake up, and the one to fetch the fiancée for a miracle. He isn’t fooled; he knows there’s something fishy about the situation – but he’s also too scared of his mother to say “no”.

And so Ella & Jack are forced to spend the foreseeable future – at least until the duke wakes up – in each other’s company. Add a quirky grandma, three odd bachelor uncles and a forward prodigy by-blow. Shake it all up with a few white lies, a pinch of jealous possessiveness, some clandestine wooing and a whole lot of confused feelings, and you get a delicious, old-school, swoonworthy romcom with a dramatic crescendo, a heartbreaking intermezzo and a magical grand finale.

This story was fun and lighthearted with a nice emotional twist. Excellent banter and steamy naughtiness; she sure likes rocking his boat 😉😉 There’s no playing coy. Once she knows he’s the one, she’s all in – and he fell like a rock at “hello”. Oh he tries to resist, stealing his comatose brother’s girl really isn’t the done thing, but he’s only a man... and a mighty fine one at that!

If, like me, you’ve been reading this series from the start, this book also ends on a most intriguing teaser. The first clue was dropped in the previous book, this one had more, but that last sentence has me on the edge of my seat for what’s next!

I was delighted to read the story of Ella and Jack. The romance was saccharine but I liked the characters and the storyline. I am looking forward to the next in the series and plan on going back to read books 1-4 in the cricket club series.

Ella is the youngest daughter and still unmarried.
She develops an obsession with Oliver the Duke even though he is unaware of her existence.
While watching him one day, he plunges into the Serpentine and she saves his life whispering they were to marry.
His brother Jack fetches her to come and save his brother from his coma as the family believes she can reach him.
Thus the farce begins as Ella pretends to be his fiancé and Jack tries to figure her out.
Jack and Ella are attracted to each other, the chemistry is hot.
But obstacles and lies need to be overcome before a happily ever after.
Really loved this story, premise like the movie “While you were sleeping”.

Regency take on the movie While You Were Sleeping.
In many ways this was a delightful tribute to one of my favourite movies however I did take issue with how she was never chaperoned and her time spent in a closed carriage/plan to stay overnight at the Duke’s townhouse would have ruined her even if nothing actually happened. The latter indeed seemed very strange as her own family were in London.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You know the old saying- do not pretend to be someone you’re not, unless it helps you find true love. A little questionable in the beginning, this romance turned out to be so sweet! Precious and heartwarming, A Match Made in Heaven is exactly that- heavenly.
