This was such a quick, easy read for me. Fast paced and engrossing.
A well written story that kept me hooked from the very beginning.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC copy. This has not affected my review at all, which are my own thoughts.
In this short story we follow two characters.
Dr, Kaine Renaud, who thinks himself a pioneer, studying a dormant complex network, teaching it the basics of analyzing data and finding people. But the machine is far more than what he bargained for. It watched. It learnt beyond Dr. Renaud. And it decided.
Miles away, college investigator Sophie Zhang discovers a pattern of "accidental" deaths, variables taken put by a system that doesn't care. She sets out to stop it, colliding explosively with Kaine.
The Silent Trigger is a short, fast and explosive read, going from place to place and plot point to plot point in mere pages. And yet, it manages to deliver a punch to the gut with the truth and the emotional aspect. With opposites characters with clear goals and motivations, complex enough for the events taking place in The Silent Trigger and capable of advancing the plot; and that I hope get developed throughout the series.
A fast and surprising read for fans of science fiction, AI Vs humanity, morality studies, and the ever present question of how AI and machines will actually affect our lives with time.
I'd say my only complaint is that, as it involves computers, AI and coding, there were some lines of code throughout the story that, for us mortal that don't know the language, were lost in translation... So, a little explanation would have been useful, but, otherwise, nothing bad about this one!
So, to sum up, I do recommend this one. Fast, intriguing, and with enough force to carry itself in such a short format and leaving you wanting more for the next installment in the series, which I'll definitely be reading. I just loved this one, I even read it in one afternoon!

The Silent Trigger is a fast-paced, quick read through our biggest A,I. fears! What would happen if mental illness met A.I.? This short story offers one possibility! This book is easily read in one sitting but has a clear story arc and keeps the reader wanting more. I would recommend this to people who enjoy intrigue with their computer thrillers! If you enjoyed reading The Three Body Problem, I think that you will enjoy this.
My only complaint is that the portions of the book that are written in code are nearly meaningless to those who, like me, do not code.
I gave this read 4/5 stars, there is no spice.
