Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC!!

I loved the concept of this book - as someone who has always prioritized my intelligence over finances and having all of the social status and latest trend items, I felt the draw to the alternate reality the main characters are pushed into. The idea of a world that genuinely values and recognizes intelligence and hard work is interesting to think about.

The book was not completely for me though, but I do think that it has a plot that will make this a favourite for many people! There were a few things I would have changed or developed further regarding the plot, and I didn’t completely find Eva likeable, but I did still enjoy a lot of the read and even found myself literally laughing out loud at some parts. I think there is something in this book for everyone, and it will definitely prove to be thought-provoking when you start to wonder what kind of a world you yourself would want to be part of.

Thanks again for letting me read this book!!! I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a more intellectual read with a little bit of teen drama, murder mystery, and romance thrown in!

Our Knowledge or Your Life? transports readers to an intriguing parallel reality where knowledge—not money—is the ultimate currency. Set in an alternate London, the story follows Jason, a wealthy and popular prankster, and Eva, a reserved book-lover. While Jason is the primary protagonist, I found myself wishing Eva had a stronger presence, as her character resonated more personally with me.

This young adult novel blends mystery, light romance, and representation, with a touch of magical realism woven throughout. Targeted towards readers roughly between 12 and 15 years old, the pacing occasionally slows but never detracts from the originality of the concept, which kept me engaged throughout.

Where the book falters slightly is in the ending. Though the story reaches a satisfying closure, it felt somewhat predictable and lacked the impactful finale I was hoping for. However, the conclusion leaves open the possibility of a sequel featuring the same characters, which is promising and i will love it.

Overall, Your Knowledge or Your Life? is well-written and presents a fresh and compelling premise. Despite some pacing issues and a less-than-stellar ending, it’s a captivating read that I recommend to fans of YA speculative fiction exploring themes of identity, power, and trust.

This was a unique read as pranks, parallel worlds, and a brutal truth: intelligence is currency, and ignorance might kill you.

upgraded to 3.5⭐️

It was a slow start for me, when the main characters met up and communicated it picked up the pace. I think it was a cool book of the alternate reality/dimension: however, it did feel like there were some plot holes. Overall, not a bad read, a starter book for people to read magical realism.

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for the eARC.

honestly, this one definitely required quite a bit of suspension of disbelief throughout but it built together fairly well once it had a chance to get going. some of the characters routinely broke character, but it felt, if not necessary, interesting. 4 stars. tysm for the arc.
