This was a rock 'em sock 'em book from the get-go. I appreciate that some readers like that, but it was just too much for me. Also, there were giant holes in the story. For instance, Mason jumps in tbe the Delaware River from a 50' bridge. Not only would he be knocked up at minimum, he'd need a lot of sleep to heal. He gets none of that.
Also being that everyone (except Mason) has a cell phone, there would be many videos of his death-defying feat. The press would be all over it, too. Everyone would know what he did, but that's not the case.
Also, since Piper lost her car, how did she get home, then find Mason? At 7 am the next day, no less. Also, she'd be in the hospital for days not hours. But, she's on a crusade to fight the "corrupt" businessman she believes is trying to kill her. I also felt that she was unlikable, except that she loves her cat. All her running on about being vegan was like an ad for it. It went on and on. Some of us know it's healthier & of course better for animals, but we don't want it shoved down our throats like she did. Even Mason tuned her out. Not good.
Also, the casino magnate seemed to be building a better town, and renovating the area where the casino was planned is quite an upgrade from its current decrepit state, so I didn't quite understand the opposition to the plan. The folks living in the area to be renovated were offered generous compensation. As it is, the decrepit area remains decrepit, and the poor remain poor. The jobs the casino would have created go unmet. Again, giant plot holes.
Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC version of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wild Card is another gripping installment in the Mason Sharpe action thriller series, and it doesn’t disappoint. The story follows Mason, a former Army Ranger who finds himself tangled in a deadly game of violence, corruption, and cover-ups after a chance encounter with Piper Haines. As they work together to bring down a ruthless casino mogul, Mason's strength and determination shine through.
I’ve only read a couple of books in this series, but I’ve quickly grown to love Mason Sharpe as a character. He’s a strong, relatable, and dependable MMC who brings a lot of depth to the action. While it’s part of a larger series, I don’t think it’s necessary to read the other books to enjoy Wild Card—it stands well on its own.
The plot is fast-paced and engaging, with plenty of twists to keep readers on the edge of their seats. I enjoyed this book just as much as the others I’ve read in the series, and it solidified my appreciation for Mason as a character. Fans of action-packed thrillers will enjoy this one!

Book review: Wild Card by Logan Ryles
I didn’t realize this was a series when I requested it. I’ve seen great reviews so I know that it’s popular with some readers.
Mason Sharpe, a former army ranger, goes to New Jersey for a stop to rest, but finds himself involved in a deadly car crash. He saves a young woman, Piper, who is being targeted by a corrupt and powerful group of people. Unable to look away, he is swept into her world and compelled to help.
The novel is action packed from the beginning to the end. While there are many readers who love this type of action, I prefer a slow build and action towards the end. Many parts felt contrived and unrealistic.
I think I might have appreciated it more if I read the previous novels. I may have connected more with the main character. Although It didn’t work for me, I can see its appeal for others.

I’ve read a few books in this series, and I always enjoy them. The characters are interesting, and the plot is well-crafted. They’re also very quick reads.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy!

This book delivers what you expect: a story that's very easy to read, great characters, and a simple but good plot. There's plenty of action, and it's mostly no nonsense.

I enjoyed this book. I was surprised at the end Mason says he thinks he just going to help people as this is what he’s been doing all along. In previous books, he talks about getting God & praying, but there’s no mention in this story, it feels like he’s regressed. #WildCard #NetGalley

This is my first read of a Mason Sharpe thriller, and I was taken up by all of the action that author Logan Ryles creates. Mason saves young Piper from drowning after a car accident, but that is only the beginning as it turns out that young Piper is in danger from a casino mogul who wants to build in her hometown. She's ferociously opposed, but so many of the cops and judges are on the take that she acts pretty much alone.. Mason slowly takes on her defense and it's a hellacious one.
That said, the casino magnate seemed to be building a better town and renovating the area where the casino is planned is quite an upgrade from its current decrepit state, so I didn't quite understand why the opposition to the plan. The folks living in the area to be renovated were offered generous compensation. As it is, the decrepit area remains decrepit, the poor remain poor. The jobs the casino would have created go unmet

Mason Sharpe is back in the eleventh thrilling instalment of his namesake series, and it's everything fans have come to expect. The ex-Army Ranger and former Phoenix Homicide Detective is on his way to Cape May, New Jersey, when a jarring car accident on a bridge near the tranquil town of Windale, New Jersey, changes everything. As one car plummets into the Delaware River, Mason's instincts kick in, pulling him into the frigid waters to rescue the trapped driver. What initially appears to be a tragic mishap soon unravels into something far more sinister: a targeted murder attempt. Though a reluctant participant, Sharpe finds himself compelled to investigate, peeling back layers of high-level corruption to expose how one man's unchecked greed can devastate a town and everyone in its path. This is a relentlessly paced, enjoyable thriller that guarantees an exciting read.

What starts out as an accident, ends in a bloody battle to the death.
Mason Sharpe is involved in an auto wreck and before he knows it, he's jumping off a bridge to save the life of a woman (Piper) he's never met.
What follows is Sharpe becoming involved with something he wants nothing to do with. But he just 'can't walk away' as he says.
In a battle for truth and justice, Mason faces crooked cops, government officials, thugs, and Bill Ashcroft, a man who will commit murder to get what he wants. And he has Piper in his sights.
This is my first Logan Ryles story and WILD CARD is quite intense. Especially the ending where the reader gets drawn into the chaos and the drama.
I really like his writing style. Told in first person, there is no area in the book which drags along or has filler. In fact, it's quite action packed which is what I like in a story.
Sharpe is a Reacher like character, but I would say that I liked him more. Ryles has a sure winner here.
I can't recommend this book highly enough.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC.

Mason Sharpe is back in a new intense thriller by Logan Ryles. I do however feel that Maosn should reconsider keeping his truck. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck and I understand why he keeps it. I do however think it costs to much in upkeep since it always seems to be crashed. I also think that he should try and keep some of the money he encounters since he always needs it for repairs. On the other hand I love this series and it's fun to always encounter a brand new problem that Mason stumbles into. In this one he witnesses a collison between cars and one goes of the bridge and before you know it Sharpe is in the water trying to rescue the driver not realising this will lead to some crazy problems later. It's not easy always to be helpful but it leads to some great adventures for us readers to enjoy. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for supplying me with another good read.

Another solid addition to the Mason Sharpe series, with this book finding Mason going up against a land-grabbing billionaire and his henchmen.
As always, the pacing is relentless, the action gritty and the characters well-rounded and all adding to the story.
I did find things a bit predictable and somewhat lacking in twists and turns, but nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed this.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC!

There’s trouble. Big trouble. And then there’s Mason Sharpe. Former Army Ranger Mason Sharpe arrives in New Jersey looking for nothing more than a quiet stopover. But a deadly car crash puts him face-to-face with Piper Haines, a frantic young woman who insists that someone is trying to kill her! Good book and fantastic series! Most of the books in this series are like an action packed movie! This one was a little more tame! But it still was a fantastic read! It had great suspense, murder, mystery, intrigue, a little romance and some shocking moments! The storyline was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Great to share another thrilling adventure with Mason Sharpe who, wherever he randomly travels in his pickup truck, finds trouble.Or does it find him? This time, he’s travelled to New Jersey, witnessed a car wreck, and saved a drowning girl —. all before I warmed up my favorite reading spot. His belief that she was a murder target convinces him to help her solve what he believes is a crazy story.. when the attacks don’t let up, he’s soon involved with a major plot involving a crooked real estate tycoon, organized crime, and paid-for government officials. Lots of action in this. Latest addddttion to an excellent series.

Another riveting Mason Sharpe thriller.
When Mason is involved in a car accident on a bridge as he heads to NJ for some planned, easy, down time,
he finds himself suddenly over his head in raging of waters. Literally.
As one of the cars involved in the bridge fender bender goes over the railing and into the water, Logan dives
in to try to rescue the driver. Piper survives and immediately turns to Mason for help in fighting off threats to her life,
insisting the bridge accident was no accident at all but was an attempt on her life.
Saving young Piper Haines sends him into a world of intimidation, threats and gangland gambling.
The former Army Ranger takes on Piper's cause and is immediately embroiled in a fight for both his and her life.
Great storyline with non stop action and thrills.
The characters are easily relatable and jump.off the pages as is usually the case in Rykes' books.
Really, really GOOD read.

This was a fantastic book full of adventure twists and turns.I was hooked from the very beginning and could not put it down brilliant book
