Have I lost my touch? There's hardly any thrillers where I can't guess who the bad guy is within the first 1/4 of the book but I've read a few this year that left me hanging, this one included. Regardless, this was a good read and even better, it left me guessing.

The Wrong Sister was a twisty, intricately– plotted story that kept me guessing until the end. It was a fast paced quick read. Claire Douglas has become a must-read author for me!

This title grabbed me from the first moment I heard about this book, and it didn't disappoint. When Tasha and her husband go out of town, they leave their twin daughters home with Alice, Tasha's sister, and her husband Kyle. A devastating phone call changes everything when Tasha and Aaron find out there was an intruder in their home overnight, their brother-in-law murdered and and Alice in ICU. How could this happen?? Things begin to take an even more dramatic turn when Tasha receives a note saying "it should have been you".
Slowly, but surely, bits of information are discovered in this multiple POV read. Each character, we find, has their own set of secrets and versions of the truth. By the end, when you think you have it all figured out, the ending delivers one big WOW.
Claire Douglas is an author who delivers on her suspense novels. There aren't usually shock factor events happening throughout the novel, but rather a steady stream of valuable clues and twists. For me, her books are ones I look back on and realize the ending was there all along...I just didn't know it yet.
Narrator Eleanor Tomlinson did an excellent job of reading each character's chapters. Her audio was clear and drew me in right away. I have listened to other audiobooks from Tomlinson before and have enjoyed her readings.
Fans of suspense, family dysfunction, and secrets will absolutely love "The Wrong Sister". Douglas is quickly becoming one of my regular authors, and I feel like her novels only get better each time.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperAudio Adult | Harper Perennial for the advanced audio copy of this title!

Happy pub day to The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas! I’m so grateful to @harperperennial and HarperAudio for an ALC of this twisty sibling thriller.
Tasha and her husband Aaron haven’t had a break from raising their twin girls in the small town they grew up in, so Tasha’s sister, Alice, offers to swap houses for a weekend. Alice and her husband will come take care of the twins so Tasha and Aaron can enjoy Alice’s luxury apartment in the city. But when someone breaks into Tasha’s house while they’re away, tragedy strikes. Then a note arrives for Tasha with an ominous message: It was supposed to be you. Could old family secrets be putting them all in danger?
I really enjoyed this book. There were plenty of twists, some I saw coming and some I didn’t, but the most interesting element for me were the family dynamics. There was so much complicated stuff happening underneath the surface and it’s impossible to talk about it all without spoilers, but the book really made me think about where my loyalties would lie if put to the test with really interesting and complex moral puzzles. I also enjoyed the way the author shifted the lens on the marriages depicted in the book. I think fans of family thrillers will really enjoy this one.
Eleanor Tomlinson does a great job narrating all the different POVs in the book. There were headers to let you know whose point of view you were in, so I didn’t get confused with just one narrator and listening to this one definitely helped set me in the story immediately.

Two sisters switch place for the weekend and their lives change forever. This was a good read that kept me guessing til the end.

This was a twisty mystery from Claire Douglas. Claire kept me guessing up to the end and I loved all of the intersecting stories.
The alternating points of view created suspense and kept the story moving at a quick pace, probably because I wanted to get to the next part of that characters story.
Now to find more Claire Douglas books to add to my TBR!
Eleanor Tomlinson did a great job narrating this story and I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

The Wrong Sister is a twisty, absorbing read that keeps you guessing until the very end. Claire Douglas does a masterful job of layering tension and doubt, pulling you into a web of secrets where nothing is quite as it seems. Gripping, atmospheric, and impossible to put down.

When Alice and her wealthy husband Kyle offer to not only let Alice's sister Tasha and her husband, Aaron, stay in the apartment they own in Venice, but also to care for their 2 year old twin daughters for the week. Tasha and Harry haven't had a romantic moment since the girls were born so they take them up on the offer. Their trip starts out well enough. Tasha even borrows her sisters expensive clothing and accessories.
A couple of days into the trip, Tasha begins to believe someone is following them. She is proven right when they encounter a man with a knife on their way back to the apartment one night. Convinced it is just a random stalker who's noticed the expensive clothing and bag Tasha is using, she decides not to borrow any more of her sister's things. Then, they get a call from England and rush back. Someone has broken into their home and Kyle is dead, with Alice hospitalized. The twins have been taken in by Aaron's mother Vivian and don't realize what's happened. Jeannette, Alice and Tasha's mother must be notified at her home in France.
Tasha has difficulty reaching her mother and is hesitant to have to tell her about the difficulties. Jeannette has been a bit fragile ever since Holly, her youngest daughter, was kidnapped as an infant. Though Holly was never found, Jeannette, never gave up hope. Meanwhile, Tasha is upset with her husband as he's obviously become close to a woman with whom he works. When THAT woman turns up dead near Tasha's home, she doesn't know what to think.
One surprising suspect in the case is Holly. Related, but unknown DNA is found in Tasha and Harry's home and that's the only explanation anyone can come up with about the blood. We also hear the story of Bonnie, who only found out she was adopted when her mother passed away and she would love to find her 'real family'.
Murder, abduction, and lies--this book will keep readers guessing until the very end. This story will also cause the reader to wonder, just how far would THEY go to protect family they love?
Douglas' work comes to life narrated by British actress Eleanor Tomlins of Poldark fame
Recommended for readers who enjoy multiple plot twists and British mysteries.

Thank you Netgalley for this great listen! I've always enjoyed Claire Douglas novels but this one might be my new favorite. Two sisters switch places and trade lives for a week. One follows is one of them losing a spouse to murder, while the other one is left to pick up the pieces. What actually happened the night all of their lives changed? Was it a robbery gone wrong or something more sinister? I was very intrigued by this novel. The story and the characters held my attention and the narrator did a great job. I will recommend to patrons and friends who are interested in suspense novels.

Thank you to the book’s publisher and NetGalley for the ARC digital copy. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.
1) LOVED the audiobook narrator!!!
2) I enjoy a multi-character POV and each kept me interested in their individual and intertwined stories.
3) There were numerous times I thought I had solved the mystery and all guesses were incorrect.
4) Author is skilled with suspense. Frequently left hanging at the end of a chapter by switching POV!
5) Beautiful setting descriptions. Makes me want to travel to Europe.
4 out of 5 stars and my respects to the author and narrator.

"The Wrong Sister" was such a pleasant surprise! I've been growing tired of the many run-of-the-mill thrillers coming out lately, with stories that have little character development and plots that move too quickly to let you actually connect with anyone. But Claire Douglas really delivered with this one. She takes the time to build characters you genuinely care about while still keeping you guessing about the central mystery throughout.
What I particularly appreciated was Douglas's restraint with plot twists. Instead of throwing in gratuitous surprises just for shock value, every development felt earned and meaningful. When that ending arrived, I was genuinely shocked... not because it came out of nowhere, but because it was both surprising and perfectly clued. I could see all the breadcrumbs Douglas had left for me once I knew where to look. It's refreshing to find a thriller that can pull off that kind of satisfying revelation.
Eleanor Tomlinson's narration was perfectly suited to this story. While she doesn't create dramatically different voices for male and female characters, there's something captivating about her delivery. She almost whispers but not quite, creating an intimate closeness that draws you right into the story. Her voice has an enthralling quality that made the experience feel personal and immediate.
If you've been disappointed by shallow, rushed thrillers recently, this one offers the kind of thoughtful, character-driven suspense that reminds you why the genre can be so compelling.
Thank you to Claire Douglas, Eleanor Tomlinson, Harper Perennial, and NetGalley for sending me the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Story is told from the POV of sisters Tasha and Alice – their mother Jeanette also a fourth narrator. We believe this is the person whodunit but also believe it might be Holly- Hmmm
Tasha and Alice are sisters and there once were three sisters. Baby sister Holly was kidnapped when she was an infant asleep in her pram out a grocery store while her Mother Jeanette stopped for a quick item. This was perfectly normal in 1989 in a small safe neighborhood where everyone knew everyone! Jeanette of course regrets this decision. In fact, still regrets it now in 2019. Her husband Jim died recently so Jeanette move to France thinking it best that a new environment would help with the grief she is experiencing.
Tasha and Alice ~
Tasha is a Dental assistant and is married to Aaron an auto mechanic; they have twin daughters’ Elsie and Flossy who will soon be two years old. They live in Bristol a small town which is their hometown.
Alice is married to Kyle – no children and is a scientist who travels a lot. Both she and her husband are successful – Kyle is very successful. .
Tasha and Aaron decide they would like to go on a romantic holiday to Italy to celebrate their anniversary. Tasha is nervous about leaving the twins but Alice offers to babysit.
Although Tasha hates to leave her daughter she is comfortable with her sister as she loves her nieces - they will be safe and also will have a good-time,
However, the unbelievable happens – a home invasion - the intruder attacks Alice and Kyle - leaving Kyle dead, and Alice with a head injury.
Tasha cannot believe anyone would want to hurt them.
Then she gets a note . . . .
It was supposed to be you . . .
And so the mystery begins ~
At first I wasn’t sure about this as I don't enjoy profanity but this story soon had me very curious.
Story ended up- UNPUTDOWNABLE!
Want to thank NetGalley and HarperAudio Adult / Harper Perennial for granted me this audioboook .

3.5/5 rounded to 4
Tasha and her husband, Aaron, are off to Vienna on a romantic holiday. They are staying at Tasha’s sister Alice’s extravagant vacation home while Alice and her husband Kyle travel to Bristol to stay with Tasha and Aaron’s twin daughters. But then Tasha’s house is broken into and Kyle and Alice are attacked.
There were a lot of twists and turns in this audiobook. The listener finds out early on that Tasha and Alice had a younger sister, Holly, who vanished when she was just a baby. Does that have anything to do with the attack on Kyle and Alice? With many side plots and background information, there was a lot to keep track of here. The perspective switched from character to character, giving more insight into their inner thoughts and feelings.
For Tasha, it seemed like to real issue was knowing who to trust. She was a loyal character and had other characters backs when things got tough. I felt sympathy for Tasha, but maybe not so much with the other characters. Decisions they had made in the past would come back to haunt them.
The pace was kept up throughout although at some points I did feel like the story dragged a bit. But the ending surprised me, tying everything together nicely in a direction I hadn’t imagined. Reality had to be suspended to really accept everything that happened, but in this parallel universe where the unlikely and the impossible occurred and occurred frequently, things made sense. This was a solid listen, with good narrator and some great plot twists.

Claire Douglas always delivers a great, twisty psychological read and her new book, "The Wrong Sister" is it! Reader did a great job on this novel!!!!

Tasha’s older sister Alice and husband Kyle offer their vacation home in Venice so that Tasha and Aaron can have a holiday while the twins stay home with their Aunt and Uncle. A tragedy occurs when Kyle is murdered and Alice is knocked unconscious during a break-in. When Tasha and Aaron rush back home, Tasha finds a cryptic note saying she was the one who was supposed to die. Lots of red herrings in this engrossing thriller. Don’t miss it!
Eleanor Tomlinson Provided excellent narration for the audiobook.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Wrong Sister is a twisty story full of emotional surprises. Tasha and Alice are sisters with a sad history that drastically impacted their adolescence. Although they grew up in a stable home, the tragic loss of their younger sister as an infant colored their formative years with profound sadness. Tragedy strikes the sisters again in adulthood while Tasha is away at Alice's vacation home and Alice is at Tasha's home to care for her twin daughters. Although the reader is not initially made aware of the details surrounding the tragic loss of Alice and Tasha's sister, the sad truth is eventually revealed adding depth and further complicating the plot. The introduction of new characters throughout this book keeps the reader guessing who is responsible for the tragedy while also making the listener want to keep listening.

3.5 stars.
A suspenseful story about two sisters who switch homes briefly, and one of them is attacked. And so begins the mystery of who was the targeted one. I figured out one aspect early on, but there was another that I did not see coming. There's family drama, intrigue, and a little bit of the Venice setting that's interesting.
Overall, it was decent. Not a standout, but not a bad story. It hit the spot at the moment, but I won't remember anything about it in a month.

This starts off atmospheric in nature in Venice and I enjoyed the descriptions. There's lot of drama and intrigue, but it gets a bit messy in terms of consistent pacing. Some of the story seems unnecessary and isn't referred to again which leaves me wondering why it was there if we don't go back to it. I really hate lose ends in a story. This book will definitely keep you guessing though, even if there are holes in the story and implausibility to deal with.
I didn't love it, but it was entertaining enough to finish. The narration was really good, so it was an easy listen.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperAudio for the ARC! Wish I loved it more!

This was kind of a slow burn mystery. May have been a little too slow in parts for me. I enjoyed the narration and it was a quick read

Claire Douglas does it again! The Wrong Sister is the perfect twisty thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another layer unraveled, pulling me deeper into the suspense. The pacing, the tension, and the emotional pull between the characters made this an absolute page-turner. I couldn’t put it down and didn't want it to end—definitely one of my favorite reads this year!
