I really enjoyed this book. It was something out my comfort zone, but I found that once I read a few chapters, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down!

This was not for me. I struggled to follow the story well due to the writing style. The author also mentions the N word which put me off.

The synopsis of Canadian Smoke is what first drew me to this book, it sounded like it was going to have a bit of everything - romance, action, suspense, and adventure. Unfortunately, however, the writing style wasn't my cup of tea and I really struggled to get into the story. I feel like the story would have translated better in the form of a movie or a TV series, not so much as a novel, but that is just my opinion. I am sure there are people out there who would really enjoy this book, it just wasn't for me.

This book was not for me; it did have some great ideas for the plot but there is something that wasn't working for me.

Canadian Smoke by PD Hillman was a fun read once you got past the first 20 percent. The beginning was a rough read and struggled to find a flow. It felt as if the writer was trying too hard to complicate the story instead of letting the plot (which was good) reveal itself. I almost abandoned it but hung in there and was so glad I did. The story was original, fun and was set up beautifully for future stories. While some aspects of the story required some suspension of belief - it didn’t interrupt the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I liked jacks character. Will definitely recommend this book to others. It was a quick interesting read.
