What does the hot best man do when put into close proximity to the gorgeous maid of honor whom he kissed and ghosted 6 years ago?
Well, this book will tell you!

Love this quote
“The deepest, truest love comes to us when we’ve learned how to fight for it. When we know each other’s imperfections and our own, and can love ourselves and our partner wholly.”

This is a great summer read, or listen. The audiobook sounds well done and the narrators really brought to life Nate and Essie.

ALC Review
I Could Be Yours by Helena Hunting

This book can be picked up as a standalone, but features people from the Toronto Terror series and the Love, Lies, & Heart series.

If you read the Toronto Terror series, you know that we have been getting glimpses into Nate and Essie's story. Nate is a bit of a storm cloud and ghosted Essie after a kiss six years ago. Essie is sunshine and rainbows personified and loves all things happily ever after. They have tolerated each other at best for the past few years, but now that they have to plan wedding events, they are thrown together much more than before.

I really enjoyed how this book approached the growth of each character, but kept each person true to themselves. There was a lot of banter and snark mixed with an insane amount of chemistry.

Pick this one up if you enjoy:
* Summer read
* Best man + maid of honor
* Opposites attract
* Grumpy + sunshine
* Enemies to lovers
* Snark and banter

Duet narration by: Savannah Peachwood & Teddy Hamilton
Anyone who follows my page knows how much I love both Savannah and Teddy, but the way they both brought the tension and chemistry to Nate and Essie was flawless. The way they played off of each other so seamlessly made you feel like you were witnessing your friends.

Thank you to Helena Hunting and Dreamscape Media for the advance copy of this book.

4.75 Stars

What can I say about this book? I had already fallen in love with this series with the previous books, but I adored these two main characters. Even though this is part of the Toronto Terror series, the actual main characters in this book are both only tangentially related to the team. But the fun thing about this book is how we get to see a lot of our favorites from previous books because they are all gathered together for the wedding of the main characters from the first book. This book is the ultimate grumpy/sunshine and I love when two characters decide that they are just going to hook up without feelings. Because that always works out. (Insert eye roll emoji). But I loved Nathan and Essie. All of the other main characters in this series are big hockey players and Nathan, while big, is the nerd of the group. I loved how turned on Essie would get by his brain and nerdiness. And I think it was perfect how Essie wanted to be seen for something other than her beauty and Nathan sees every bit of her.

I got to listen to the audiobook of this book and the narrators did an excellent job. I love a duet narration because it pulls me into the story. Of course, Teddy Hamilton does an amazing job. I would expect nothing less because everything of his that I have listened to was done so well. This was the first time I have listened to Savannah Peachwood and she honestly did such a great job. I fell in love with these characters and, although most of that is because of Hunting’s writing, at least part of it was the great job that the narrators did. Their pacing and tone were ones that I feel I could listen to over and over again.

The Toronto Terrors series is one of my favorite sports romance series. This book was a little different because neither of the main characters was a hockey player or member of the Terrors organization, but they were the friends and family. There was plenty of spice and these two had amazing chemistry. This is a book I would definitely recommend, especially if you are looking for a sports romance that isn’t really a sports romance and a sweet grumpy/sunshine with characters that are absolutely perfect.

OH MY. I never fail to be charmed by the magic that is a Helena Hunting Romance. I Could Be Yours sizzles with chemistry, emotional growth, unique characters, and effortlessly funny banter. With the summer vibes, the Toronto Terror connection, and the perfect balance of heart, heat, and humor this is a delightfully funny, sexy, and heartfelt summer read/listen. I couldn't put it down!

One kiss....and then he ghosted here. What an auspicious beginning. And for six years, they avoided each other. Now Nate’s brother Tristan is marrying Essie’s best friend Rix (EEP I love the cross over), and suddenly, they are forced to confront their past almost romance. Both are part of the wedding party—Nate as best man, Essie as maid of honor. They are off at a destination vacation wedding—and they’re in a full-blown competition to outdo each other. And to try to not fall back into each other...which is just TOO hard to resist.

Nate is now a successful executive at a sports company. He's focused, stoic, ambitious, a bit straight laced....but Essie's sunshiney joy completely unsettles him. The memory of their kiss unsettles him. She's the spark in his otherwise stable world. Essie, the hopeless romantic, the girl with some stars in her eyes. She loves love- and wants her bestie to have the fairytale wedding she deserves. But Nate is the storm cloud to her otherwise sunshiney disposition. And even worse, she can't help but fall back into his orbit. And soon these two just can't deny what's between them. What they always knew was there and avoided.

I love a good cross over, so while this can be read as a standalone it's Toronto Terror adjacent in the best way. So, as a fan of that series, I had already been excited about the prospect of this story. Essie is such an endearing heroine- she's sunshine and happiness and total light. A total sweetheart. It's a wonder Nate didn't immediate fall at her feet in the past (bonehead). But like we always come to find, there's more to Nate and his hesitations. He's a bit grumpy, a lot bit bottled up, and Essie is the effervescence he needs to bust through all his barriers. I simply adored her, and I grew to love Nate as we saw him grow into the man he could be with her. Helena Hunting has some of the best characterization and characters specificity in the business, and as always these characters feel so unique and complex, while also still feeling universally relatable and lovable.

Their chemistry is equal parts emotive and fun. They have some epic banter (it is Helena Hunting after all), and a great balance of humor and heat between them. While we could hold it against Nate that he doesn't just revel in the magic of Essie, Helena gives him a really compelling character arc that felt both believable and relatable. I loved the mental health aspect too. And I loved how it gives substance to their connection, room for it to grow into something more layered and soulful, and helps transition the more tense beginning into a meaningful connection. And of course, the spice be spicing! I really was charmed by watching these two fall.

The audio is also fantastic, one of Helena's best. Savannah Peachwood is an all time favorite, and she was the perfect casting for lovable Essie. Her charisma, her charm, the zest and energy in her performance perfectly captures Essie's spirit. And Teddy Hamilton is always stellar as a grump with a heart who finds his love. He juxtaposes mercurial resistance and hesitant vulnerability so well in his performances, so he really nailed the Nate. This was heavily bingable, I couldn't stop listening.

PLUS, I'm loving the sneak of what's to come with the Terror!

This grumpy sunshine, opposites attract, second chance, holiday romance is sure to be another @helenahunting classic.

The chemistry, the tension, and the banter is all there and then some. And as I listened to this on audiobook, the narrators delivered all of that so dang well.

Essie and Nate had an encounter years ago but then he essentially ghosted her as he wasn’t ready for it all. They now have to spend time together because of a wedding. And that’s when feelings are uncovered.

I enjoyed the hopeless romantic side of Essie and how people underestimated her. She’s driven and smart but her looks have always overshadowed people’s perception of her. Nate is the one who sees her for who she really is. Not just the gorgeous woman.

Thank you @helenahunting for the ALC and e-ARC of this story. Enjoyed every moment of Essie and Nate’s story.

Nate and Essie!! This was my favorite couple yet. I loved the banter between the two. The premise of best man x maid of honor. I loved the humor within that really brightened up the story. I loved the snippets of the actual wedding and the activities that drew them together. Such a stunning read overall!!

My Heart is So Full! Helena Hunting Delivers Pure Sunshine and Grumpy Perfection!
Okay, where do I even begin with Helena Hunting's "I Could Be Yours"?! This book was everything I hoped for and more, and I absolutely devoured it. If you're a fan of grumpy/sunshine, second-chance romance, and laugh-out-loud banter, then seriously, add this to your TBR!
Essie Lovelock is pure joy and rainbows, and I just adored her! And then there's Nate Stiles, our broody, closed-off engineer. Their dynamic is pure gold, with chemistry that absolutely sizzles from their very first explosive reunion as maid of honor and best man. The forced proximity at Tristan and Rix's destination wedding was just perfection, giving us so many hilarious and heartfelt moments.
What I loved most was watching Nate's journey. He's been through a lot, and seeing him confront his past and become the man Essie deserves? So incredibly satisfying! And Essie's own journey of self-worth was equally beautiful. These two truly make each other whole.
As a huge fan of Helena Hunting's interconnected world, seeing all the familiar faces felt like coming home for a big, warm family reunion. The found family vibes are strong and so heartwarming!
A massive shout-out to the audiobook narration by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood! I actually tandem read this book while listening to the audiobook, and it was such a fantastic experience. Their duet performance was utterly phenomenal. They brought all of Nate's growly tenderness and Essie's sunshine and sass to life. Seriously, they embody these characters flawlessly!
"I Could Be Yours" is a complex, spicy, and utterly heartwarming read that proves once again why Helena Hunting is a queen of romance. It's the perfect mix of fun, emotion, and undeniable heat. Don't walk, run to grab this one!

I enjoyed Nate and Essie's story! Their banter is so much fun and I really enjoyed all of it happening at Tristan and Rix's wedding. Having the whole gang there while these two were trying to figure out what they mean to one another added all the more entertainment! I am very excited for more stores with this friend group!

Loved the newest from fan favorite, Helena Hunting. Although marketed as a standalone, it incorporates characters from many of her past series (Toronto Terror, Tilton University, All In). If you're new to the author, you made need a road map!

Essie and Nate have been background characters is previous books, but this is where they get to shine. Essie, a makeup artist with an in-depth knowledge of the chemistry behind the product, and Nate, an engineer who loves to geek out over science, had a brief encounter in high school. But Nate panicked over a pre-university commitment and ghosted Essie. She's been holding a grudge ever since. Now that they're maid of honor/best man at an upcoming wedding, they're forced to face their feelings for one another through secret rendezvous.

I was generously granted access to both the ARC and ALCs of this title and read them in tandem. Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood are both veteran narrators and did not disappoint. It was done in duet-style (does anyone want to read one NOT in duet at this point?!?) which was quite enjoyable.

"Love opens us up for wonderful and painful things"

Essie and Nate!!! I love how Helena's books interconnect so we get to continue the stories from our favourite couples. Not only do we get to follow up with other couples from the Terror series, but we even get Lavender and Kody! We met Nate and Essie in Bea's book, experienced an awkward moment with them in Cammie's book, and now we get the whole story. I love the wedding chaos and Terror shenanigans and getting to know the MCs and experience their journey and HEA. Her characters are always well rounded and feel real. Great narration! I'm loving the Duet style in this book and Teddy and Savannah are so good together! They both give fantastic snark which is key for these two characters. Top notch performances making this audiobook highly entertaining.

4/5 story, 4.5/5 narration

cw: mention of cheating, child abandonment issues
Nate Stiles is the definition of serious. Furrowed brow? Check. Rain cloud personality? Double check. I shouldn’t be wondering what it would be like if I didn’t hate Nate Stiles. I should be holding strong against a man who doesn’t believe in love. My name is Essie Lovelock. I'm a reformed love-obsessed fairytale fanatic, and I’m determined to be the best maid of honour my best friend could ever have. And I am absolutely not going to fall for the best man.

I honestly don't know how Helena Hunting creates such swoony, sexy, hilarious, and heartachingly gorgeous stories time after time, but here we are. Again.
I'd loved all of the little moments between Nate and Essie in the previous Terror books, so I was excited to read their story. It was gorgeous.
The opening scene was hilariously awkward. Helena always finds humour in the most awkward places, and, even though we'd met her briefly in previous books, I wasn't sure what I'd make of Essie before I started her and Nate's story. But I loved her immediately. She was such a good friend, but I also loved her duality. On one hand, she was a complete romantic, and loved all things princess and fairytale, yet she was also extremely focused, detail-oriented and rocking some fierce adornments... (and Nate's reaction to those was everything!)
I also adored Nate immediately, but for different reasons. He was SO hard on himself at times, but you could always see his soft, vulnerable centre underneath all of the protective layers. I also loved his nerdy side (almost as much as Essie did) and his organisational skills (much more than Essie did
). It was also adorable just how annoyed he became every time he allowed himself to admit how much he liked one of Essie's traits, and I cackled laughing at his jealousy whenever Flip was around. But I LOVED antihistamine-addled Nate. He was so sweetly vulnerable.
I enjoyed how competitive Nate and Essie were, both at the dancing lessons and during the Stag and Doe party games, and the tension was sublime. The mini cucumber game (and Nate's curiosity) took me out (IYKYK). But it was the limbo that amped up the tension between them to boiling point, and left me giddy with anticipation. And let me tell you... The intimacy was worth waiting for, even though the wait wasn't too long. Their connection felt tangible, even when they were both desperately hiding their feelings for each other. I also loved that Essie's filthy mouth matched Nate's.
But as much as I swooned, fanned myself, and cackled laughing, there were some deeply moving moments. My heart broke for Nate, Tristan, and Brody when Nate opened up about their mother abandoning them, and chapter twenty-six utterly wrecked me, but I LOVED how Connor stepped in, even though the dismissive outcome broke my heart anew, and simultaneously made me SO angry. Speaking of Connor, I really enjoyed getting to know more about him and starting to peel back some of his layers. When the conflict hit, it made perfect sense, even though it wrecked me again. My heart broke for both Nate and Essie in different ways. But I LOVED Dred's talk with Essie.
Strike that...
I LOVE DRED! Full stop.
She's always SO insightful and gives THE best advice. And I squealed when she and Essie talked about Flip's soulmate. Brody and Nate's heart-to-heart also made me giddily kick my feet. I'm SO excited for the stories still to come.
As always, I loved all of the little Easter eggs and character crossovers from the other Helena Hunting books. Of course, it was wonderful to catch up with Rix and Tristan, though my heart ached for Rix whenever she became overwhelmed. But I also loved how we got more stories about their respective childhoods from Essie and Nate. Their wedding was SO beautifully written, as were the festivities. But the bouquet toss left me flitting between laughter, cringes, and tears. Still, I LOVED Tristan's talk afterwards with Nate.
Chase and Cammie were adorable, and Brody made me cackle on several occasions, but especially the cliff dive and whenever he was teasing Nate. It was also fun to catch up with Kodiak and Lavender. But I squealed (again) at a certain someone at the end! I LOVED the little teases of Dred and Connor, and that bombshell at the end was so exciting (even though we knew it was coming). I also LOVED how we started to see both Flip's teasing side (usually around Nate and Essie), but also his newer, more insightful side. He genuinely gave Nate some great advice. I'm still intrigued by Hemi's brothers, Sam and Isaac, and the cliff diving was comedy gold. As for the wardrobe malfunction? I was crying laughing, and genuinely thought Kodiak's head was going to explode.
I've said this before, but one of the things I always love about Helena's writing is that she makes her characters do the work. So, I appreciated that Nate was forced to confront his childhood, and it only made the ending more satisfying. I wasn't expecting Flip to be so instrumental, though, so that was a wonderful surprise, and I LOVED his weekly habit. I seriously love how we got more and more hints about how Flip was maturing.
But back to the main characters. Nate and Essie's first date was gorgeous, and afterwards was utterly adorable and so swoony. As for that epilogue? It just left me giddy, but also desperate for the next book in this wonderful world. I was lucky enough to be able to listen to an ARC of the audiobook, and I highly recommend listening along too, as both Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood knocked it out of the park in their duet performance.
Nate and Essie are the perfect grumpy raincloud and rainbow princess, and I think, once again, I have some new favourites!. Utter perfection.

Narrators - Savannah Peachwood and THE Teddy Hamilton

Savannah Peachwood - The Score, Allie Hayes (took me a minute to work out where I knew her voice from)
Behind the Net, Stephanie Archer
Wild Eyes, Elsie Silver

Teddy Hamilton - need I say more?! If you're unfamiliar with him, get yourself over to Booktok and find the audio that tells you how well he can satisfy women...

I like that they have the male/female narrators do any speech, rather than the female put on a man's voice and vice versa. It makes it feel like you're eavesdropping on their conversations. The narrators definitely add to the humour with great timing and intonation.

I think for me, the humour was amplified by the narrators, and it was already funny to begin with. Teddy Hamilton really pulls off grumpy Nate, and is super funny with it.

I'm a huge fan of Helena Hunting, and I love interconnected worlds in book series. I Could Be Yours was amazing, as it not only links to the Toronto Terror series (Lexi and Shilpa are pregnant in this book), but there are references to the Pucked series through mention of Alex and Violet Waters' kids, and Lance and Poppy Romero's wee one too (who is apparently all grown up and playing pro hockey!) I also loved seeing Isaac and Sam, Hemi's brothers again (from If You Need Me). Cammie and Chase from Chase Lovett Wants Me are there, as Cammie is Essie's sister. Flip is an awesome character, and l hope he and Tally get their own story. His "nut up, or shut up dude" line had me laughing out loud. There's some Easter eggs about Dred and Connor Grace too.

But this story is about Essie and Nate. Essie is Rix's bestie, and Rix is marrying Nate's brother, Tristan. So the pair are forced into spending lots of time together as best man and maid of honor - but no-one knows they kissed 6 years ago then Nate ghosted Essie. I loved discovering the love between these characters against the backdrop of Rix and Tristan's wedding - it was like an extended epilogue to If You Hate Me in parts (and I love a good epilogue!)

Nate is the all-black wearing storm cloud of grumpiness who trains in the gym with Flip and Tristan, and works as an engineer. Essie is a girl's girl, a make-up artist, pink-obsessed, princess loving, sunshine and roses, eternally optimistic romantic. Very much opposites attract. The banter between them as they bicker then flirt is highly entertaining.

They share some very hot moments in this book, as they finally give in to the tension being between them "He's brilliant and broody. My personal kryptonite.", and these moments eventually lead to sweet moments and romantic feelings.

Nate shares similar issues to his brother, Tristan, having been abandoned by their mum as kids. The writer takes a really positive approach to self-improvement, healing and therapy, and it's so nice to see men's mental health being highlighted. The FMC is also a really strong character, and it was good to see her knowing what she wants and having an idea of her self-worth.

If you enjoy a slow-burn then spicy, not-quite-friends to lovers romance with a touch of hockey chat (but not a full blown hockey team member playing), or if you're a fan of the other books in the series around this, you'll be in for a great read.

"I hate when she says my full name, because I love when she says my full name."

"She's the glorious ray of sunshine peeking through my rain clouds to create a rainbow."

Spicy chapters

Chapter 7 - kiss
Chapter 11 - 'Fuck it' moment
Chapter 14
Chapter 19
Chapter 23
Chapter 27
Chapter 40 - princess love making

I really enjoyed reading this book, and the audio enhanced that for me. Would highly recommend.

Thank you to the author and Dreamscape Media for the advance reader and listener copies. These opinions are my own.

Nate and Essie!

This is such a fabulous summer romance. Officially, it's a stand alone. But it has crossover ties with both the Toronto Terrors series and the Tilton University series.

If You Hate Me features Rix and Tristan. Essie is Rix's best friend, and Nate is Tristan's brother. So they are both in the wedding party for Rix and Tristan, the setting for this book. And Chase Lovett Wants Me features Cammie, Essie's younger sister. There are lots of connections among the series, and lots of foreshadowing for future couples. So this is a great entry point if you are just joining Helena Hunting's world of romance, but I love them all and recommend reading these interconnected series in publication order.

In this book, we get a lovely summer beach vibe. It's a bit of a second chance, except Nate ghosted Essie after just one kiss in high school. They can't escape each other, and the forced proximity gets even more intense in this paradise getaway for the wedding.

This book is filled with a mix of amazing friendships (the badass babe brigade is back!), beautiful summer times, deeply emotional bonding, and such family drama and angst. Essie is the fairytale princess who loves love, and Nate is... Not. Reading about them together is so swoony.

It felt like a reunion getting to see everyone from so many of Helena's books. Even Kodiak and Lavender (Little Lies) show up for the wedding!

Plus the audiobook features Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood with duet narration. So incredible in every way!

Thanks to Helena Hunting and Dreamscape Media for the #gifted copies of this book.

Summary: A standalone, grumpy/sunshine second chance story including characters perfect for those who love a happily ever after, even if it hits some bumps along the way. Essie Lovelock and Nate Stiles shared a life-changing kiss 6 years ago, until Nate ghosted her, and they pretended that it never happened. Fast forward to the present day, and the two are suddenly thrust together as best man and maid of honor at her best friend's and his brother's wedding. Neither of them is looking for love after heartbreaks, but sometimes the heart has other ideas.

Dani's Thoughts: I absolutely loved this book because Nate and Essie had the perfect banter, found the best in each other, and had some unbelievable chemistry. I have been waiting for their story for quite some time, especially after her sister's book. Even though they both swore off ever falling in love (mind you, for very different reasons), their slow burn from not liking one another to loving each other was wrapped up in many twists and turns and sneaking around, which was fun to watch unfold. I loved watching their hearts open to one another and realize that though falling in love is scary, it's always worth it. And Nate going to therapy by the end was so refreshing to see him getting the help he needed after all the heartbreak and tense moments he's had in his life.

I was so excited to see so many of my favorite couples from the Toronto Terror and Tipton U series. I enjoyed getting to see Tristan and Rix get married, as they were the couple that started me on my Helena journey. Finally...I LIVE for bonus chapters, and we were blessed with two!
🎧I listened to this one on audio and loved it. Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. The duet style is quickly becoming my favorite for audiobooks, and they meshed well throughout the book. The audio was done very well, and I highly suggest listening to this one!

Helena has written such a fun summer romance. It's filled with all the things we love about summer love, a destination wedding, close friends, second chances & a best man and maid of honor that are determined to keep things as "friendly benefits," but just can't.

Nate & Essie shared a kiss 6 years ago that seriously topped all kisses but the next day, Nate leaves for school & ghosts Essie, leaving her devastated. They haven't spoken since. Once their best friends decide to get married, they find themselves spending all kinds of time together, planning all the wedding festivities. Feelings from the past begin to boil up & they start to look & feel about each other differently.

There's such a fun push & pull between these two. They snap & bite at each other all while trying to remind themselves that they don't like each other. They are honestly so different. Nate is a hot, nerdy hunk with a slight gruffness to him. Essie is all sunshine, pink dreams & happily ever after's but somehow they balance each other out so perfectly.

For years, Nate has been dealing with the hurt & trauma of his mom up & leaving them. It's jaded his view on l0ve. Essie is a big believer in TRUE LOVE. She wants the fairytale! This story is filled with fun, laughs & lots of hot, steamy moments. Once these two give into each other, they just simply can't keep their hands off one another. I LOVED how Nate comes to the realization that he needs to be better for Essie and takes the steps & does the hard work to get there for her. Their HEA is so fun & rewarding. Just an all around fun & sweet listen that I binged in one day.

🎧Let's talk narration: Teddy & Savannah are one of my favorite duos together. They know exactly how to play off one another, especially in duet! Their comedic timing & sweet, tender moments were perfect! They are such talented performers & can literally bring any story to life. I adored Nate's character & Teddy makes this guy so swoony. Essie was such a fun character. I especially love when Savannah performs FMC's that are smart, sassy & forward. She totally brought Essie to life. Her take charge attitude, organizational skills & planning was something I totally related to. Nate was "charming with an edge." He was teasingly naughty I LOVED every minute of it. 🙌There's delicious banter, pining & tension that just adds to all the fun! It's hard to top these two actors.

Thanks to Helena Hunting & Dreamscape Media for a copy of the ALC & opportunity to review. The audio is now available on most platforms. This is such a fun one ya'll!

🎧Audio and Ebook Review📚

Nate Stiles works for a sports equipment company and hooves his job. He was asked to be the best man for his big brother. And he would do anything for him, so his all in, except for one little issue... The Maid of Honor...

The same Maid of Honor he has some history with... a complicated history...

I loved these two. From the minute the story starts these two were going at each other. I loved how Essie got under Nates skin.

But the more these two spends time together planning the wedding the more Nate gets to know Essie. And she finally gets to hear what happened all those years ago.

Loved the story, loved the characters and the narration on this was just as awesome.

These two are my favorite narrators. Teddy Hamilton made me fall inlove with Nate and Savannah Peachwood made me want to be BFF's with Essie.

Always a good time reading a Helena Hunting story. Laughs and love and just an all around great read🥰
