If you are looking for a thriller novel that will have you on the edge of your seat this is the book for you! I will admit I wasn't sure whatto expect when I first started reading it but with each passing page I found myself more drawn to it. It's amazing how far some people will go to destroy the lives of others.

We are introduced to Vivenne who is a mother looking for a house/dog sitter so she and her husband can go away for the weekend. She hires Amelia a stranger whom she has never met before. From the beginning we know that Amelia is up to no good such snooping through Vivienne's computer. Then it seems like after she gets back from vacation nothing seems right. Soon she starts to question her sanity and if she doesn't get to the bottom of things she could end up losing her own life.

I received an arc copy from Netgalley and all opinions are of my own.

When Vivienne needs a dog sitter, Amelia comes highly recommended through her husband’s acquaintance. What Vivienne doesn’t know is that Amelia has been plotting to get into Vivienne’s life and home to seek revenge for her partner whose life was ruined by Vivienne. As Amelia systematically undermines Vivienne’s sense of safety, things take a dark turn.

If you’re a fan of domestic suspense novels, you’ll enjoy this one. It’s more of a slow burn but picks up towards the end. I found much of it predictable, but still enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the eARC.

Vivienne lives with her daughter Lola and her husband Miles. He works away a lot. Amelia lives with her partner Tom. Vivienne and Amelia meet when Amelia comes to house sit the dog Willow. They become friends?
I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. Every time I had to put it down I could not wait to get back to it to so how everything came together.

"This woman's more vanilla than vanilla. I close the email inbox and lean back in the chair. The dark screen of the laptop reflects a mischievous glint in my eye as a plan begins to form in my mind. I'm going to make her life less boring, and she won't even see it coming..."

This domestic thriller has the feel of a Netflix drama - the setting is a beautiful, aspirational family home with a cuckoo in the nest. The story lets the reader (at least partly) into what's going on pretty early on - so we can see the games being played. The story flows quickly and is a very easy read. It certainly put me off ever letting someone housesit!

There were a few minor details which felt a bit implausible (e.g. how easily Milly went in and out the house without anyone noticing/challenging her - it would have been good to mention the lack of a doorbell camera earlier.) I really liked the final twist - I knew something was up with a particular character, but I didn't figure out what.

Many thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy.

OMG, what did I just read?! Sally Rigby does it again, outstanding! This is actually a terrifying story, watching Vivienne's slow descent into paranoia at Amelia's hands. It takes quite a while for us to find out part of the reason Amelia has targeted Vivienne. And it's a real game of cat and mouse, but who's the cat and who's the mouse? Plenty of twists including an absolute jaw-dropper. Who wins the game ... read it and find out. Brilliant!
Thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing, and Sally Rigby for the fre ARC. All opinions are my own.

Vivienne and her husband Miles go away for a weekend, and Miles recommends Amelia as a house/dog sitter.
After that weekend, there are things moved in the house, and strange occurences, and Vivienne feels that she is going mad.

It wasn't that simple though.

I really enjoyed this, it is fast paced and twisty. Full of lies, revenge and deceit. And gullible people as well.

This is a dark, well written and well thought out novel.

I recommend
4/5 stars from me.

engaging but predictable. I'm kind of underwhelmed. It has so much promise, but the execution didn't really quite make it for me. I don't know if I'm expecting too much or what. There were some things there that didn't make sense. <spoiler> like if she's rich asf, why the hell doesn't she have cctv at her house? I just couldn't get past it. sorry! </spoiler> Anyway, definitely a fast read for me.

This book is a departure from Sally's usual crime thrillers, plunging us into a chilling psychological masterclass.
From the outset, the central question is, why is Amelia so intent on destroying Vivienne's life?
We are immediately propelled into a relentlessly fast-paced narrative. Sally expertly crafts an atmosphere of palpable suspense, each chapter ratcheting up the tension another notch. Just when we think we have a handle on things, a truly huge twist explodes, and it took my breath away.
The brilliance lies not only in the shock but also in how meticulously the threads are woven together, leading to an ending all tied up as neatly as one of Lola's hair ribbons (not that we'd touch them of course)!
I devoured this book and highly recommend it!

Vivienne Campbell has a lovely life. Beautiful daughter, Lola, elegant house, handsome husband, but she is full of anxiety. Twitchy at best, neurotic at times, Vivienne worries about anything and everything. With her husband working away for home for long periods, doing secret work with the army, Vivienne is left to bring up her daughter, keep house, work part time and care for the family dog. Willow, a labradoodle, is very much part of the family, so when a family event is in the offing, and Miles is off on his secret squirrel stuff, nervous Vivienne is reluctant to leave Willow in kennels after a bad experience. Husband Miles suggests a house sitter, who will move in whilst Vivienne and Lola are away. He has one in mind, strongly recommended by a work colleague, so all systems go and Amelia is installed to house sit and care for Willow. What can possibly go wrong?

A fast paced plot that I really enjoyed. A real page turner that keeps the reader engaged. Good storytelling, with characters you love to hate. Though the twist was not entirely unexpected, the delivery was spot on and a good ending to a very enjoyable read. The clues are all there!

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing.

The Silent Guest is a fast paced psychological thriller that keeps you turning the pages quickly.

The story is told in two POV's and is divided into three parts : Before, During and After.

Vivienne needs a dog/house sitter for the weekend and on a reccommendation from her husband's co-worker she highers Amelia.

What Vivienne does not know that is Ameilia has her own agenda and that includes revenge against her.

Amelia has a well thought out plan ( in her mind) and slowly makes Vivienne question her own sanity.

What Amelia doesnt know is that eventually Vivienne is on to her and she is about to change the game.

Sally Rigby does an amazing job leading the reader down a twisted and diabolically clever path with a jaw dropping ending that you wont guess completely.

This was my first but certainly not my last Sally Rigby book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the privilege of reading and reviewing The Silent Guest.

Taut, Tense, and Unputdownable

Sally Rigby delivers another gripping read with The Silent Guest. Full of psychological tension and unexpected twists, the story keeps you second-guessing right to the end. Rigby masterfully builds a sense of unease, with well-drawn characters and a plot that never lets up. Dark, compelling, and thoroughly addictive a must for crime and thriller fans. Thanks to NetGalley and to the publishers of this book for giving me a free advance copy of the book to preview and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A solid thriller! I enjoyed the dual POVs told between Vivienne and Amelia and the way the author split the book into 3 parts...past, present, and future. The unnerving, psychological twists throughout this will make you question everything. The final plot twist was one that will blow your mind. There are so many webs and lies and secrets in this book....it makes it so hard to put this down. The level of revenge and how far people will go to get it is a whole other level in this book. Grip your kindle and find a comfy seat because you're not gonna wanna put this one down once you start it. I believe this was my first book by this author and it certainly won't be my last!

When Vivienne Campbell hires a house sitter, she has no idea what she is in for. On the surface, her sitter is warm, friendly, and highly recommended, but beneath it all lies a danger she never expected.
Vivienne returns from her weekend trip to a home that doesn’t seem the same. She is surrounded by strange incidents that make her question her sanity. She seeks help from her housesitter, who tries to comfort her, but she suddenly believes she may be a danger to her own family.
Vivienne slowly begins to unravel when her new friend tries to convince her that she is losing reality and that she should leave her family and disappear. Little does she know that there is a past linking her to her friend, who is seeking revenge, and her life is now in danger.
A gripping edge-of-your-seat thriller that is impossible to put down until the very end..

The story alternates between Amelia and Vivienne’s POV. Amelia plans to get revenge and has found the perfect opportunity. Amelia does subtle arrangements around Vivienne’s house that make Vivienne question her own memory and sanity. Once Vivienne catches on she begins her own journey of revenge towards Amelia.

This book is perfect for readers who enjoy characters that are revenge driven, manipulative, and deceiving along with shocking plot twist. There was excellent twist after twist that made me constantly changed the way I felt about the characters and their actions. I had easily guessed the plot twist about the husband’s connection early on due to the wok / life balance of both of them. That didn’t stop me from being completing shocked by what the husbands were hiding. I didn’t except it to end the way it did but I liked it.

Trigger warning :
Brief mention of SA that happened to a character in the past.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

🏠 The Silent Guest; My Book Review! 🏠

(Written by Sally Rigby)

Blurb;

I've been waiting years for this moment. When Vivienne Campbell needs a housesitter, I make sure I'm the perfect candidate. Warm, friendly, highly recommended. Everything she's looking for.

She has no idea who I really am. While she's away for the weekend, I have free rein of her perfect home, her perfect life. The life she doesn't deserve. Not after what she did.

When she returns, I watch her confusion grow. Small incidents that make her question her own sanity. I'm there to comfort her, to be the friend she desperately needs.

She thinks she's losing her grip on reality. She's starting to believe she might be dangerous to her own family. Maybe she should just... disappear? It's working perfectly. She's unraveling exactly as I planned.

But Vivienne doesn't know the real reason I'm here. She doesn't know about the past that connects us. She doesn't know how far I'm willing to go to make her pay. Some revenge is worth waiting for. And some secrets are worth killing for.

My Review;

I really enjoyed reading this book, which drew me in from the very beginning, & with an easy-to-read writing style. I think I flew through this book! It kept me wanting to read more, with such a good plot, (which was split into sections), & the main characters came across as authentic & believable. I liked how there were a few twists within; twists that I really didnt see coming! - & one HUGE twist at the end!!!👌

Based on a rating of 1-10, where 10 is the highest, I would give this book a rating of 8. It kept me hooked, was a very enjoyable read throughout, & I would deffo highly recommend!

= Deffo one to read‼️

I must admit, I initially disliked this book. The characters in the beginning—so cruel and manipulative—made me genuinely angry, and I almost gave up on it entirely. But I'm happy I kept reading. The story takes some incredible twists and turns that completely changed my perspective, and by the end, I was hooked. What started as a frustrating read turned into a gripping, unforgettable story. I’m now eager to explore more from this author!

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC.
