Dual narration- Sean Crisden & Ja'Air Bush

The narrators did a great job bringing this story to life.

Well written and developed. These characters had my heart from the beginning of the story.

Nakyra is hearing impaired and is a beautiful human inside and out. She is engaged to Rome who is a rich kid , the golden boy, the parents favorite child so to speak.

Rome has a horrible accident and ends up in a coma. His parents are there and go above and beyond to keep Nakyra away from Rome in the hospital. When his brother Creed the black sheep of the family shows up and is there for her my heart swooned. When he started to learn ASL for Nakyra I fell for him right there.

Creed took so much more care in loving her than his brother ever did and she deserved it. Nakyra is a sweet and strong FMC. Seeing her learn how to balance life, love, and friendship was an amazing journey.

Nakyra is a dead illustration artist engaged to Rome. When Rome has an accident and is in a coma, her life changes. Rome's parents bar her from the hospital and Rome's brother Creed comes to town.

This is a very spicy romance. 4 stars

This was such a cute read, but also the scandal! The way I wanted to fight his parents—

But also, the way she just moved on? Crazy. I mean, I get it ‘cause she never had that type of support— I was still shocked though ‘cause he didn’t even drop the bomb on her about the REAL reason!!
I mean… I also don’t blame her. Her fiancé gave VERY questionable vibes from the beginning 🥴

This really showed why you shouldn’t just “settle”. Which is something I’ll always stand on 😤
Creed was just green flag after green flag fr. I was already sold at him learning to sign. The way it ended though? Chef’s 💋 This fr gave Tyler Perry.
I could totally see this in a Madea movie ‘cause

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🗓️Audiobook Release date July 15, 2025

I received the ALC to Hear my Heart on NetGalley so I decided to do an immersive read with my kindle.🥰

The story follows Nakyra, a deaf artist, and Children’s Book Author. She’s engaged and settled to an emotionally detached man. When her fiancée gets into a really bad accident that puts him into a coma, she comes face to face with his younger brother. And their story starts from there. 🤭

This was a very spicy Urban Romance, don’t let the cover fool you. When we meet Creed we’re diving head first into his freak. 🥵 And I was ALL for it, I don’t even blame her. And honestly in my eyes she could do no wrong. I felt she was way too nice to the awful people in her life, and I’m glad Creed had her back. 🤣 Like the man he issss 😮‍💨

This is also a perfect book to add to your TBR for Disability Pride Month 🦻✨

Hear my Heart will not be my last book by Tay, I’m actually hoping we get Camilla & Dylan’s story. I know it’ll be so good 🖤

Again thank you too Tay & Dreamscape for the audiobook, 10/10 recommend✨

This was a super SPICY dual POV romance that has an engaged woman falling for her fiance's brother while he's in a coma. There was a LOT of toxic family drama, the guy who gets cheated on is an emotionally abusive cheater so it's not hard to overlook the affair on her end. Where the story was strongest for me is the deaf and hard of hearing rep (the FMC becomes deaf as a child after an infection, gets hearing aids and learns ASL and also has a service dog). Excellent focus on the way her condition is challenging, how she manages chronic pain and ear infections and also has to deal with ableist family and ignorant people. Good on audio but not my fav story if I'm honest. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

Quick Summary: A grown folks business, While You Were Sleeping-esque romance

My Review: Hear My Heart by Tay Mo'Nae is a contemporary romance. It is scheduled for release on 7/15/25.

About the Book: "Growing up deaf in a family that ignored her caused Nakyra to embrace the silence.

...her whole world is suddenly flipped upside down...

Nakyra's now torn between staying committed or facing new possibilities."

In My Own Words: A hearing impaired woman suddenly finds herself caught between two loves. She must decide what she wants for herself and her life.

About the Audiobook: This novel was narrated by Sean Crisden and Ja'Air Bush. Overall, the production was easy to follow and entertaining. The emotional tone and character expression worked. There were challenging moments, however, related to rhythm and timing.

My Final Say: There was a lot going on in this story. It was difficult to rate, truthfully. It largely had to do with the characters, both the leads and the supports. I found the cast to be colorful, troubled, dysfunctional, and peculiar. There was so much narcissism, classism, and hedonism. I cannot say that I actually liked anyone. That is rare for me.

When I started the story, it quickly went in a direction I was not expecting. There were three instances that completely soured me. The in your face approach to storytelling earned a mixed bag rating from this reader.

At the end of the day, I can definitely say that this was a twisted read.

*** I fully support reading books with disabled/able-challenged. I love that the author presented a main character who was HI and who used ASL as functional language. It was also good to see other characters being willing to learn and utilize this communication style.***

Other: Potential readers should read any and all author/publisher notes on this book. It does contain mature content, as well as infidelity.
