The Jack*ss in Class by Amy Award
Narrator, Vanessa Vasquez
Book Five of the Cocky Kingmans
I have to confess that I was aware of this series but have not read the earlier books but probably will now. So it was initially a little hard to get into the book for that reason. But it was a cute college age romance with a football player and a bit of a nerdy girl with a very overbearing mother.
Romantic, a little spicy, tons of secondary characters, mostly great family with a couple of glaring exceptions. I was glad in the end that the MMC turned the nickname my queen into mi reina. It sounded much better. On that note, there is a fair bit of untranslated Spanish which might be tough for some readers. A tiny bit of tear jerking but not very angsty. Some of the football talk was a bit detailed for me. Lots of female friendship and strength. Body positivity as in all this series.
Narrator was good except I did not like that several characters had nasally voices which I find grating.
PS to author, it’s menudo for hangovers traditionally.
Thanks to NetGalley

I adore all the Kingman brothers, and Flynn is no exception. His story kicks off by chasing a runaway baby donkey across campus, which leads him straight to Tempest. Though he's known for being a charming playboy who avoids commitment, their connection is undeniable. When a tutoring program and a shared class throw them together, sparks start to fly. Flynn surprises Tempest by revealing a deeper, more caring side, especially when she needs it most. Their sweet journey is filled with heart, humor, and adorable donkey antics that had me smiling the whole way through. J.F. Harding and Vanessa Vasquez were absolutely perfect as Flynn and Tempest, bringing their chemistry and also their family dynamics to life flawlessly. This book is a delightful addition to the series, and if you've fallen for the other Kingman brothers, you'll absolutely love this one too.

College sorority sister, Tempest has a secret identity as a popular romance author. Flynn is getting ready to be drafted into the NFL alongside his twin to continue his family’s American football dynasty. Throw in an adorable donkey and these two are a match-made in rom-com heaven!
I was highly entertained by this book from beginning to end! It had me laughing out loud, smiling from ear to ear and definitely blushing!
While this was a very fun rom-com, this is also a story that addresses sensitive topics like body-shaming, familial pressure, identity loss and grief to name a few. The author did a great job of weaving these subjects into the story while still keeping the story pretty light-hearted. I love a man like Flynn who breaks all his rules and proceeds to fall first and hard. Tempest is my favorite type of heroine, one that once she realizes her worth, takes absolute no 💩 from anyone!
This is my first time reading anything by Amy Award and I immediately requested the rest of the books in the series on Libby! I have awhile to wait though because they are highly requested.
J.F. Harding is one of my favorite narrators and one of the reasons I requested this ALC so fast! I say this a lot about narrators I listen to often but he is always a hit for me!
I know this is not the first time I have listened to Vanessa Vasquez but I couldn’t find titles I’ve listened to before, so not sure if this might be another pseudonym. Either way, she did a fantastic job as not just Tempest, but all the female parts in this story. I would love to listen to a story about Abuela Novella narrated by her!
Thank you to the author @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for the ALC!

This book was very fun. It had alot of great laugh out loud moments. And lots of sweet moments too. Since Tempest is a romance writer it was funny watching her almost make fun of sterotypical things that happen in romance books that were happening to her. I love watching her realize that is has great support network around her when her family was not supporting her as the should have. The Kingman's are always great at rallying around the people they care about. Overall this was a fun book.

It was cute but not my favorite. It lacked banter. The characters fell in love to quickly for a Kingmans that had a 2-week with rule with girls since high school.

Book 5 in The Cocky Kingman's series.
This book focuses on Flynn- one of the twins. When a baby donkey runs off during a pep rally, he runs into Tempest. And falls instantly. But she is immune to his charms.
I love the family. I loved book 1. But for whatever reason, I cannot love the rest. I keep reading though, because I love the family. Maybe cut out the romance and just give us family scenes? Kidding, but they are why I keep reading.
Vanessa Vasquez and J.F. Harding narrate the audiobook.
I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a lighthearted, funny, and fast read. MMC falls first for a FMC with a secret occupation.

This fifth installment in the Cocky Kingmans series is a funny, sweet, and heartwarming feel good romance! Flynn Kingman is focused on being drafted to play professional football at the end of his senior year of college. He doesn't have time for a relationship, until he meets the one woman who doesn't fall for his charm and who steals his heart. Tempest Navarro is sweet and innocent as a sorority sister, but she also has a secret identity as a successful steamy romance author. She only sees Flynn as an arrogant jock until they are forced together in the tutoring program, and she sees he has a heart of gold. As they become closer and their chemistry gets hotter, complications threaten her secrets while Flynn faces the hardest decision of his life. This was such a sweet, emotional, and steamy romance. I loved how confident and caring Tempest was, and Flynn was so sweet, thoughtful and swoony. They were so perfect together. I loved how much they supported each other, making each other stronger and more confident. I also loved getting to know the Kingman family better as they added so much fun and heart to this story.
Vanessa Vasquez and J.F. Harding were amazing as they brought this wonderful story to life. They nailed all the characters perfectly, making me feel every emotion they went through, and made me laugh out loud, cry, and totally swoon. They helped make this heartfelt, sweet & steamy romance even more entertaining!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the advance listener copy of The Jack*ss in Class by Amy Award.
The next installment follows Flynn Kingman. Flynn is in his senior year when he meets, Tempest. In addition to student, Tempest is also secretly a bestselling romance writer. Tempest ends up in the same class as Flynn and both end up in the same tutoring program.
I enjoyed watching Tempest and Flynn get together; particularly Flynn’s feelings for her. I also really liked that when we got to the final act, Tempest had complete trust in Flynn. I also really liked Tempest’s roommate! This installment also brings together the Kingman family and really fun ways.

I would like to thank the publisher for sending me and audio-arc in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.
Flynn is in his senior year of college, and all he wants to do is graduate and get drafted to play pro football -- hopefully with his brothers. What he hadn't planned on was falling in love. But then he meets Tempest in his Shakespeare class. So he signs up for tutoring (even though he doesn't need it) in order to spend more time with her. Tempest has a lot of secrets -- between her career as an extremely popular romance writer, something that no one knows, and the miniature donkey that she is hiding in her sorority house, there's a lot on the line for her. What she doesn't need is to fall for Flynn. As the two of them spend time together, they begin to realize that there might not be any fighting of this attraction between them, and Tempest will have to finally write her own happily ever after.
Okay this is exactly what I was missing from the last book. You have an actual plot between Tempest and Flynn with their romance. We have Tempest who is hiding from the world that she's a famous romance author -- including from her own family. There's Flynn who doesn't want to admit that he is scared of being separated from both his twin brother and the rest of his family... honestly it is just absolute perfection. I loved the dynamic between Flynn and Tempest as they navigate their senior year of college, I loved watching Tempest as she stood up to her family and follow her own dreams, but what I really loved about this was getting to see Tempest's family because the drama really did feel like a telenovela at times as see figures out how to come clean about her writing career knowing that her mother will 100% be against it. Seeing how the two of them actually have each other's back was also fantastic. And the best thing? There was no third act break up (yay!!) and it stayed away from a lot of the things that I didn't like about the previous book. The spice was nice and well written, and I loved all the moments between the two of them. The drama made a lot of sense in this book -- unlike the last one. (I think I'm just still angry at the whole Penelope thing, but again, maybe that was just me.) I also like that the next two relationships were hinted at here and I'll be curious to see who will come first. Not only did I absolutely enjoy everything about this book, but the audiobook is also well produced with incredible voice actors doing an amazing job bringing these characters to life. Honestly, I am loving this series and I can't wait for the next one.

I love this series and this latest book did not disappoint! I love Flynn and Tempest and thought they were so well suited for each other. I really likes Tempest and thought that she was a perfect example of following your heart even when it goes against what you know. I think my favorite part of the whole book was at the party after graduation. The entire scene with her family felt very raw and genuine.
The narrators did a great job of bringing this story to life and really getting me into the story.

Another sweet book in the Kingman lineup from Amy Award - Tempest and Flynn have fun chemistry and I also loved her friends and sorority sisters. It was also a fun storyline! Career success, hidden identities, faithful friendships, wise elders, funny siblings… a fun, light read!
And! A lot less cheese than in books past - this one let the jokes, winks and nods land without over-explaining them. Amy Award really nailed the balance on this one!

Sweet and funny, with a bit of spice. Maybe a little too cute, but definitely a great rom-com! Esay to enjoy and worked very well as an audiobook. I havent read other books in this series, but I'll be in the look out- can be read as a standalone.
3,5 stars and a thanks to NetGalley for the audiobook ARC.

It took me a few chapters to settle into The Jackass in Class, but once I did, I was hooked. What starts with a chaotic baby donkey chase quickly unfolds into a heartwarming, funny, and refreshingly body-positive college sports romance.
Tempest Navarro is the kind of heroine I rarely see but always want more of! Curvy, anxious, talented, and quietly powerful. She’s secretly a bestselling romance author and just trying to keep her emotional support donkey hidden from her sorority sisters. Enter Flynn Kingman: campus royalty, football star, and self-declared no-relationships guy… until he meets Tempest.
Their chemistry grows through forced proximity thanks to a tutoring program, and the banter between them absolutely shines. I also appreciated the contrast in family dynamics. Tempest’s more judgmental family vs. Flynn’s big, chaotic, deeply loving crew. It added a layer of warmth and emotional resonance I wasn’t expecting.
The narration by Vanessa Vasquez and J.F. Harding was spot-on. Both narrators brought energy and nuance to their roles, making this a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience from start to finish.

This was another great read in the Cocky Kingman series. I have really enjoyed all of them and this was no different. I thought the characters were very cute and the story was sweet, I wasn't fully satisfied with the conclusion to the family drama but enjoyed the book all the same. A really nice, sweet, fun, spicy read, great for those who like cotton candy books or need a palate cleanser. The narration and production is also well done.
Thank you so much to Dreamscape for this ALC! Really enjoyed myself and look forward to the next Cocky Kingman!

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and I loved every second of it. Flynn and Tempest are freaking adorable. This whole Kingmans family is adorable. I loved the humor in this story, the romance and chemistry between Flynn and Tempest, the spicy scenes, the secondary characters, Burrito Petito, the plot. Everything about this book was amazing but nothing compared to the feeling of seeing a Latina FMC who spoke Spanish perfectly, plus size, and a writer. I loved Tempest!! The narration by JF Harding and Vanessa Vasquez was outstanding. They brought the perfect mix of voices for these characters and the Spanish was perfect. I'd give it more stars if I could!

This book was everything! I absolutely adored Flynn and Tempest! Amy has done an excellent job building the kingsman universe and this was no exception. The donkey in this book was an incredible side character. Her comedy is top tier. The story also does a fantastic job of tackling how often the romance genre is looked down upon and not seen as real works of literature. The subject is handled beautifully. There is no third act breakup which I loved. I enjoyed that the conflict was something outside of the relationship and Flynn was supportive of her. Their banter was great, the spice was great. The way he supports her with her family is amazing. I just loved it.
I listened to the audiobook and i loved the narration!

Tempest's life is complicated enough. Between classes, her secret career as a romance novelist, and hiding a donkey in her sorority house she doesn't have time for anything else. And that includes handsome linebackers from her Shakespear class who challenges her at every turn. But when they get grouped together, she just might find out Flynn is exactly who and what she needed.

I loved The Jack*ass in Class! It was so much fun. Tempest's sorority sisters tried to steal the show, but Flynn held his own against them. I loved that she had a secret career as a romance novelist, because don't we all want the same for ourselves? This was the first book I read in The Cocky Kingmans series, so now I'm going to have to go back and read the rest. Instant fan!

Overall, 3.5 stars. This was my first book in The Cocky Kingmans series, and it was easy to pick up as a standalone book, I didn't feel like I was missing anything starting in the middle of this series. The part I loved most about this book was Tempest finding her voice and a sense of belonging. I found it to be super relatable, especially of finding comfort and belonging within someone else's family and never feeling good enough for your own. The humor and college shenanigans gave me such a sense of nostalgia. I loved that Flynn ended up being such a gummy bear, he was so sweet and protective. What I didn't like about this book is just a matter of personal preference. The book felt choppy at times and the story just seemed so farfetched.
*Dual POV
*College athlete/Romance author
*Forced proximity
*Family drama
*Found family
Format: audiobook - Vanessa Vasquez and J.F. Harding did a great job!

What fun! Number 5 of the Cocky Kingmans and my favourite so far. Also my first audiobook in the series and it's just excellent. A ridiculous and well-executed plot has college footballer Flynn preparing for the combine, Tempest – a best-selling romance writer, a baby donkey, Shakespeare in class, and all the college shenanigans you'd expect. Tempest has more than one secret and she's slow to trust, but Flynn is intrigued until he falls hard and then he's all in. Unlikely as it seems, it all feels both fun and somehow believable. It's a super slow burn, and more tender than I expected.
Narrators Vanessa Vasquez and JF Harding are terrific. Vanessa creates a sassy and vulnerable Tempest, and made me wish I speak Spanish. JF Harding is totally scrumptious as an alpha football player hiding a very soft core. As it's dual narration, they are both busy with all the girl squad, siblings and extended family, not to mention the donkey. It's funny and silly, like the rest of the series, but the vulnerability of these two really sold me. Recommended!
Thank you Amy Award, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC. Opinions are my own.
