Whoa. This book is so good. Keri Lake is an undeniable talent—no question about it.
It’s dark (like, really dark), so please make sure to check your trigger warnings—seriously. And fair warning: the cliffhanger is brutal.
That said, I literally couldn’t put it down.
It’s the slowest of slow burns, so don’t go in expecting a traditional romance—but honestly, it didn’t bother me at all. The pacing gave the story room to grow and breathe.
There’s actually a surprising amount of banter, especially given the heavy themes, and I absolutely adored the characters.

This one leans heavily into Salem Witch Trials vibes, complete with a creepy, puritanical community that gave me serious The Village (yes, the film) energy—in the best, most chilling way.
If you’re into morally gray characters, intense atmosphere, and tension you could cut with a knife, this one’s for you.
I already can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
