I’m such a sucker for a good amnesia plot and this one did not disappoint! Jessie wakes up from a year-long coma, only to realize she can’t remember what happened—or who she can trust. Her husband insists she shouldn’t try to recall the past, but fragments of memories start slipping through. The question is: are they real, or just dreams and false memories?
I felt horrible for Jessie, piecing her life back together while doubting everyone around her. Was she a complete nutcase, or had she really been harmed? I questioned everything—whether she had kids, whether her husband was telling the truth, the brother, the nurse, the friend, the housekeeper, the grandma, the dad, the lawyer… literally everyone was suspicious! Who wanted her dead? Who wanted her money? And who could she really trust?
This book kept me second-guessing myself at every turn. I was fully hooked, desperate to find out if Jessie was paranoid or in real danger. The twists were so good, I didn’t want to put it down. Absolutely loved it! If you’re into twisty psychological thrillers that play with your mind and emotions, The Liar I Married is a must-read.

This is a brilliant psychological thriller.
Having enjoyed DK Hood’s crime series, I knew I’d like this book too.
It’s a bit of a tricky one to review as there’s a few twists and turns in this one, and it definitely kept me on my toes.
Jessie wakes up from a coma and is in a makeshift hospital room in her late Grandmother’s house. When she asks what happened to her she’s told by the nurse that she’s been told not to tell her anything, and she must remember for herself.
Jessie remembers hitting a tree in her car but can’t remember why or how it happened.
We have chapters before the crash and in the present day as Jessie tries to piece things together.
I really liked Jessie as she is a strong woman who is determined to fight back when she realises that someone wants her dead.
This is a great book and one that I’d highly recommend.
Thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

The Liar I Married by D.K. Hood is an unsettling thriller with twists you won't see coming! I love D.K. Hood's Kane and Alton series and Beth Katz series, so when I saw she wrote a standalone thriller I had to read it! Jessie wakes up with a nurse standing over her and she's hooked up to all kinds of machines. The nurse, Dolly, tells her that she was in a car accident that was her fault and has been in a coma ever since. Jessie can't remember much about the accident or the day of the accident. She gets flashes, but not enough to know what happened.
Jessie is married to John, who works very long hours in hopes of making partner. The marriage was fine until John started taking Rebecca, a lawyer at work, to dinners, social outings, and on business trips. Jessie saw the way John looked at Rebecca and knew there had to be something going on between them. When Jessie tries to get John to tell her what happened, he is vague, and says he's not supposed to share anything with her because of doctor's orders. According to John and Dolly, the doctor doesn't want anyone talking to Jessie about what happened until she can remember it on her own.
When Jessie gets a note passed to her from a trusted housekeeper, it scares her. The note says Don't Trust Anyone. Who could've written this note? Is Jessie being lied to? Was she really the cause of the car accident? Why hasn't her family been by to visit her? Why won't they give her a phone to use or a computer? She's not even allowed to have a television because it might upset her! What is going on and who is behind this? Why is she always so tired? Did someone try to kill her? Is John lying to her? How will Jessie find out what really happened? Will Jessie figure out what's going on before it's too late? The Liar I Married will keep you up way too late as you race to get answers. I rate The Liar I Married 4 stars with a high recommendation. The book comes out August 22 and if you love a good thriller, you should pick it up! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of The Liar I Married in exchange for a fair review. #TheLiarIMarried

Hood claims this is her first psychological thriller but she has two series full of psychological thrills.
She did mess with my mind as I tired to work out exactly what was happening to Jessie.
I loathed Rebecca and never believed John’s negation of Jessie’s accusations.
I suspected one of the culprits because of logic and it’s always true to follow the money.
But at times I even began to doubt Jessie with her hazy memories and weakness.
The real hero was Alex because he was a tried and true friend.
I did keep expecting Deputy Kane to bust down the door to save the day!

This psychological thriller has Jessie trying to determine what is truth versus what someone wants her to believe. She wakes from a year long coma and gets a message not to trust anyone. This makes it very difficult for her as she is weak and dependent on her nurse.
The story toggles between the past and the present. As it progresses, there are several characters who be behind what is happening to Jessie. Towards the end it becomes more apparent who the villain is but there are still a few surprises.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book had me hooked from the star and I couldn’t put it down. While some aspects of the plot weren't unique, it was refreshing to read a thriller that truly delivered on suspense and tension. A gripping, fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages

Thankyou NetGalley for giving me early access to this book! This book follows Jessie who has awoke in a hospital bed after being in a coma for 1 year where she is told she was in a crash and it was her fault however Jessie doesn’t Believe this was the case and the book follows her as she tries to uncover the truth about that night of the crash while doing this uncovering disturbing memories of her husband John and his secrets…
I was so intrigued by this book the title and the blue really stood out to me however I didn’t feel connected to the book at all I felt like a lot happened then nothing happened for a few chapters however I did enjoy the past and Present time line as it made us uncover the story as Jessie was remembering before the crash and the night of the crash. I did figure out the plot twist but it was well written. Overall it was a good read I’ll definitely be reading more by this author!
This book is released 22nd August deffo give it a read !!

This book was insane! It was twisted, it was gripping but it was so darn good! Wow!… So many twists it had my mind BLOWN every page down to the last sentence!!!…

I love the Kane & Alton series by this author so was looking forward to reading this. I wasn’t disappointed, gripped from the start with plenty of twists and a dark storyline, you just don’t know who you can trust. I enjoyed the dual time lines and when the tension built it was very hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and author.

Gripping, shocking, thrilling, and hard to put down! The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist is a stand-alone book by D.K. Hood. If you have read one of my D.K. Hood's fabulous series, then you know here wonderful writing, well thought out plots, and thrilling mysteries. In The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist she tells the story of a woman who was in a horrific accident comes out of a coma and no one will tell her what happened or where her children are.
Jessie wakes up to see a nurse standing over her bed. The nurse informs her that she has been in a car accident and is recuperating under her care. Initially Jessie has a very limited memory as to what led up to the accident and where she was going. She also wonders where her husband and children are currently. As the book progresses, readers are given snippets of Jessies life leading up to the accident. Readers learn of Jessie's life with her husband who is seldom home and appears to be spending all his time with his co-worker, Rebecca. Readers also get to see Jessie and her road to recovery and her interactions with her husband and those who come to visit her.
D.K. Hood is a master at having readers wonder who is being honest, who is reliable and who is dishonest. I wrestled with you was the liar in this book. So many questions swirled through my head about the accident and about Jessie's experiences both before the accident and while she was recovering. Just when she feels she has a handle on things, Jessie finds a note that tells her to not trust anyone.
I enjoyed the mounting tension, and the undercurrent of unease Jessie feels as she tries to piece together what happened to her, what she is currently experiencing, and the doubts swirling around in her mind. I felt for Jessie and her struggles to understand her current predicament and wrestle with her reality.
I enjoyed the two timelines and the unraveling of the well thought out plot. There were quite a few characters I wanted to throttle while reading this book. I thought D.K. Hood did a tremendous job of keeping readers and Jessie in the dark and trying to come up with answers.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, gripping and shocking!

Jessie definitely went through a lot in this story, as she has awaken from a coma after a horrible accident. With a shaky memory, Jessie tries to decipher who is gaslighting her and who truly had her best interest at heart. This gripping thriller held my attention the entire time, and I was truly invested into Jessie’s outcome. I enjoyed the dual time lines that alternated between the months leading to the accident & after Jessie awakens. D.K. Hood did a great job at building suspense, causing you to become engulfed in this suspenseful read.
With unreliable narrators, the unlikeliest of suspects, gaslighting and more.. I’d recommend this read! Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

The Liar I Married is an addictive psychological thriller with plenty of twists and secrets to uncover. I really liked the way the story shifted between Jessie’s past and present, slowly revealing the truth about her husband and the events leading up to her accident. The concept itself is compelling, and once the tension picks up, it’s hard to put the book down.
That said, I felt the pacing earlier in the book wasn’t as strong as it could have been. The slower start affected some of the early tension building, which made it take me a little longer to get fully invested. However, once the story found its rhythm, it delivered exactly what I wanted from a domestic thriller: suspense, doubt, and plenty of reasons to second-guess every character.
Overall, this is a dark and twisty read that will keep you hooked, especially in the second half. Fans of psychological thrillers about trust, memory, and betrayal will definitely enjoy this one.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Liar I Married’ written by D K Hood in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Jessie Harper is driving erratically trying to rid herself of the image of her husband John kissing Rebecca Lawson, the corporate lawyer John has become close to. After a year in a coma when she isn’t expected to survive, Jessie recovers consciousness but no-one will tell her what happened or where her twin daughters are. Jessie is being drugged by Dolly the nurse her husband is paying to care for her, but after receiving a note given to her by Maria the housekeeper telling her not to trust anyone Jessie doesn’t know who to believe.
‘The Liar I Married’ tells of what happened to Jessie when she crashed her car a year ago and counts down what happened to her in the twelve months leading to the present time. I grabbed the chance to read this novel as it’s written by one of my favourite authors, but I’d expected more from her as there was nothing really gripping to get my teeth into although it did improve towards the end. I admit I skipped some of the chapters of what happened in the past preferring to concentrate on the present time as I wanted to know whether Jessie’s daughters were real or a figment of her imagination. Apart from Jessie and Maria the housekeeper, I didn’t like some of the characters and was surprised when it was revealed who was behind Jessie’s car crash and why.

I thought this book was exceptionally well written. It was hard to know who to trust, and who to believe.

This book grabs you fast, it's full of twists, buried truths, and a chilling message: “Don’t trust anyone.” From that moment on, I was hooked.

After Jessie wakes up from a long coma after a horrific car crash, she struggles to remember the night of the accident.
Gradually, we learn about the time leading up to the crash. Jessie was convinced her husband, John, was having an affair with his work colleague, Rebecca.
As more and more memories come back, Jessie realises she is in danger, but just who is she in danger from.
My goodness, what a fabulous read this was! I found myself on edge reading this psychological thriller.
The characters were complex and there were some that put me on edge. I felt for Jessie, I could feel her pain, as well as the frustration she was showing.
I enjoyed peeling away the layers to get to the heart of the tale. I was desperate to see Jessie get her memory back for the night of the accident, I wanted to know what happened.
This is my first book by the author and I am looking forward to reading more.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

A nice easy read that kept me engrossed throughout. Had some good twists and wanting to know more, would like to explore more of this authors work xd

One of the best books I've read. Jessie woke up from a coma and suspects her husband is cheating on her. This was a great book

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of The Liar I Married. This one kept me on my toes, I never knew what was truth or not. I still think John was the biggest sleaze bag, how did all of a sudden he change to a loving, caring husband? Alex was the Best character and also Maria. I’m glad they were in Jess’ corner. It all came together at the end which is always good. The epilogue, the phones, not necessary.

A great book with a ton of red herrings. I didn't know who to trust, except for one person, who I even doubted at one stage as well. I had no idea what the ending would be. I am thankful that I got approved for this book, because it is such a great book.
