A perfectly decent book on Ancient Egypt – very pictorial, very easy to read as the text is in little snippets and factoids, and the reading order isn't that important… I mean, this will probably be sold as part of a very diverse set of books, and the title of it isn't exactly fit for a google search, but it will not harm a primary school shelf whatsoever. However you do come by it, it'd be a keeper – without needing to be mummified first.

5-Star Review: Ancient Egypt by Louise Nelson

I just finished reading Ancient Egypt by Louise Nelson, and wow—I loved it! As someone who’s always been fascinated by all things ancient Egypt, this book totally hit the spot. The cover caught my eye right away, and the inside didn’t disappoint. It’s packed with cool facts and crazy tidbits that kept me hooked the whole time.

What I really appreciated was how the book breaks down everything you need to know about ancient Egypt in such a fun and easy-to-follow way. Each chapter mixes must-know info with colorful photos and helpful infographics, making it super engaging. Plus, there are quiz questions, an activity, and a glossary that make it perfect for younger readers—though honestly, I enjoyed those too!

The layout is clear and inviting, which made it a breeze to dive into without feeling overwhelmed. Whether you’re a kid in grades 2–5 or just someone curious about the wonders of ancient Egypt, this book is definitely worth checking out. Highly recommend it if you want to learn and have fun at the same time!

★★★★½☆ A Fascinating Journey into the World of Pharaohs

'Ancient Egypt' by Louise Nelson, a pseudo name of author JODY CALKINS, is a thoroughly engaging and beautifully presented exploration of one of history’s most captivating civilizations. Nelson skillfully brings to life the grandeur of the pyramids, the mysteries of mummification and the complex mythology that shaped ancient Egyptian culture. The book is both informative and accessible, making it ideal for curious readers of all ages. Rich illustrations and well-organized chapters help anchor the wealth of information, from daily life along the Nile to the reigns of iconic rulers like Ramses and Cleopatra. I would like to have it as a coffee table book.

The only slight drawback—and the reason for deducting half a star—is that certain topics, such as Egypt’s interactions with neighboring civilizations, could have been added in bit of an information. Additionally, the point where she mentioned that Other religions like Hinduism, Islam and Christians worship like Egyptians is wrong as a fact. Hindu religion predated Egyptian Civilization so does human civilization here in Indian subcontinent under the name of Indus Valley Civilization; and later evolved Christians and Muslims do not worship like Egyptians. Christians though worship Deity but not Muslims. Nonetheless, this is an outstanding primer that balances historical depth with readability. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to unlock the secrets of the land of the pharaohs.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review a digital ARC.

This text serves as an excellent resource for young readers, specifically those in 4th grade and up. It presents a wealth of information about Ancient Egypt in a structured manner that is likely to engage students effectively. The clear organization and engaging visuals help maintain interest and facilitate understanding.

As an adult, I found this text to be a highly accessible introduction to the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. It breaks down complex topics into manageable sections, making it easier to grasp essential concepts.

One of the standout features is the mummification activity at the end of the book. It’s an interactive project that not only enriches the learning experience but also sparks creativity. I’m particularly excited to implement this hands-on project with my students in our library, as it offers an engaging way to explore the mufficiation process.

Additionally, the inclusion of a quick quiz and a god-matching game adds an extra layer of fun for students. These activities provide a valuable opportunity for them to test their understanding and reinforce their knowledge in a dynamic way. Overall, this text is a valuable resource for both educators and students seeking to explore the wonders of Ancient Egypt.

So I'm a nerd who gets advanced reader copies of a fun fact book about Egypt.
These old world myths, facts, and ways of life are just captivating. This book is full of color and beautiful photos to bring a bit of fun to the history.

This is a book that would be better as a physical copy. It helps to the large and beautiful double page spreads. The ebook is still very fun to read but only if they are older. Younger kids would benefit from being able to flip the pages and follow the timelines and flow of the formatting.

This is a small book that is not intimidating and geared for kids and is a fun read to learn something if you read together.

Ancient Egypt by Louise Nelson is the type of book I would have loved as a child. I was fascinated by Ancient Egypt and would read anything I could get my hands on about it. I enjoyed how the diet of the people who lived during ancient Egypt was featured within the book. That is something that I have only really seen talked about recently. I highly recommend it for children who are interested in the ancient world.
