I really, really wanted to love this book. And in a way, I did. But then, in a way, I didn’t. I was looking for a more thrilling sci-fi, dystopian kind of read after reading the blurb. Think The Marriage Act by John Marrs – this was the vibe I was getting from the blurb, and this book wasn’t quite it. Then again, my expectations aside, it would have been an exciting read – had I not expected it to be something else.
It was not a dystopian story – it was a story about people being people. It was a story about people being their lying, manipulating selves, and using some fancy technologies to get their weird, selfish, ego-driven goals met. And then, there was love. I was expecting there to be love, of course, but somehow it ended up being a love story. Which was not what I was really there for this time.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. I absolutely love the premise of any kind of technology that people rely on and it takes over. Great plot, the characters became real to me, loved this one

i swept through this book. im not the norm reader of futuristic or sci-fi. and have been even less so more recently due to how scary the world is becoming with this stuff. but this premise with that edge to it pulled me in.
you are truly rooting for our Fmc. you can see what shes facing, you can feel what shes feeling and you want to know how her story will play out.
as we see the past unravel in this book you get more gripped and more tense. it teaches us so much how we need to tread very carefully on this tech we all seem to be calling GOd right now. its frankly frightening. there is no " oh this will not or might not happen" come on! we thought this of so many things that ARE now happening.
this was a book filled with unease not only from what is happening in the story but also the weird connection you have to it, and almost fear you have to it possibly dictating our own futures. you see this is why i dont read much of this genre! it gets in my head.
but all in all a real grip you til the end read. one you want to know how it will unfold.
