Nelle and Keene are everything I wanted them to be. Nelle brings the fun loving chaos and Keene brings the grumpy cat antics.

As with any Shelly book, the side characters are as interesting as the main couple. Enjoy the cameos, the backstory, and a road trip as we meet a crew that makes Nelles teammates look like professionals. Can't wait to see what the next book brings

What can I say that will capture the full circle moment that was a crazy rollercoaster? The amount of effort Shelly writes to give each character a moment and showing how each are different but at the heart of it all they are all Shifters and some are crazier and deathlier than others!

We have Nelle who enjoy the finer things in life but she is not snooty about it! She loves her friends and has a take charge help attitude. She fierce and loyal! When her friends need her help she steps in even without any words said! Her friends and her are a strong loyal Badger team that one should not underestimate!

I truly enjoy this new installment in the Honey Badger series! There were so many POV and action that was very entertaining and crazy to keep track of! The continuation of the how revenge will be avenge was crazy to believe that it started with how the Malones brother will not rest until their father death will be avenge. Especially Keane! I love his grumpiness! He was a no shit type of Shifter that will be all Cat and will be Mean about it. He don't Care!

Long time Fans of Shelly and her Shifter characters will love the crazy action pack story! I believe new readers will enjoy reading the series from the Beginning to get the full experience of how Shelly Laurenston writes Shifters! They are not your typical out of control unless provoked lol. But instead very animalistic and fierce animal shifters that are stronger and deathlier! I love how she incorporate facts of the animal into the characters.

I really loved Nelle and Keane together! Their personalities really merged so well! It was so much fun reading their interactions and how they went from not talking to getting into altercations and having each other back! They are both so strong that I love that moment when they were free to be themselves and be together! Love that moment! Definitely a more romance level than previous two books!

Overall a great installment to the series! It was crazy how everything wrapped up in the Honey Badger world! I love the new characters we got to meet and can't wait to read more in the future from Shelly Laurenston!

Shelly Laurenston’s latest addition to her Honey Badger Chronicles ties up the loose ends and pairs up the final two members of the group. After teasing the coupling in the last two books as well as pushing off the release by months I had relatively high expectations for this book. While I wouldn’t say it was bad, I would say it was a bit of a let down as far as action/conclusion of the series' long storyline goes. I think Nelle our FMC was by far the stand out with Keene the MMC being a bit odd since he seems to act so differently than how we see him in the other books, but then again maybe that's just love? I do think it’s worth reading if you have enjoyed the rest of the series but I for sure think it is one of the weaker additions.

This is book six in the Honey Badger Chronicles of a group of borderline insane honey badger shifter women who wreak international havoc when they’re not playing basketball. In this book, the last of the women, Nelle Zhao, the youngest daughter of a rich and influential Hong Kong honey badger family, finds her mate in Keane Malone, a Siberian tiger shifter who only cares about football, his family, and getting revenge on de Medici lion shifter coalition. Not necessarily in that order.

In the previous book, de Medicis released a drug that can kill honey badger shifters who are pretty much indestructible otherwise. In retaliation, Charlie, the oldest of the women, delivered a message, the dead body of the de Medici head of the family. In this book, de Medicis retaliate. Too bad they go after the wrong group of insane honey badgers. Now the previous generation is involved too.

Nelle, the fixer, needs to fix things before an all-out war breaks out—or before Charlie meddles again, because she’s not subtle. She heads to France to negotiate with influential honey badgers to form a coalition against de Medicis, and takes Keane with her. Things don’t go exactly smoothly, but the two end up bonding.

This was a great book, maybe the best in the series. Like always, there are several POV characters, some for only a half a chapter or less. Several things happen at once, but they were fairly easy to follow for a change. And as always, things were chaotic and bat-shit crazy, as some characters enjoy stirring shit. (Looking at you, Max.) The crones were highly annoying, but unlike in the previous book where they were just thrown at the reader who hadn’t read their series, they were properly introduced and given their separate identities.

Romance isn’t the driving force of the plot and is mostly on the background, like in the earlier books. However, the couple actually spends a lot of time together here and the reader can follow their bond forming. Nelle and Keane made a really good couple and their chemistry felt real, so that by the time they end up in bed together, it feels earned. Nelle wasn’t half as annoying as she’s appeared to be in earlier books and Keane was absolutely delightful for a grumpy, constantly angry tiger. Theirs might be a true union, unlike the other girls’ whose mates basically ended up as background characters the women barely interact with.

I think this is the last book. All the women have now found their mates and the Malones have had their revenge. If that is the case, the series ends with a high note and leaves things in a good place. However, the ending sets the stage for a new story, so there could be a spin-off in the making too. I would love to read that, or anything the author writes under her two names (I’m still waiting for more Crows), as no one does insanely violent women like Laurenston/Aiken.

One thing that you can always count on in a "badger" novels is chaos. Laurenston has written a more twisted tale this time than ever before.

This novel evolves around not only the relationship between Nelle Zhao, (a badger from the famous badger basketball team), and Keane Malone, the oldest or the Malone brothers who have been mates in a couple of the previous books in the Honey Badger Chronicles, but their relationship isn't the main focus.

The ongoing saga of the badgers versus the de Medici lions comes to a head in this novel. The family is to blame for Keane's father's death and they also had the ridiculous vision of wiping out the badgers. Too bad for them.

This book brings back so many characters from her (early), previous shifter series, the Smith's , the Van Holtz's, and even the MacKilligan girl's wastrel of a father. It was actually fun to see which character was going to show up next.

The ridiculousness of these novels are also their charm, and this was one crazy ride.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this ARC. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.

I just can't get enough of those violent, crazy, homicidal honey badgers! I'm very happy that Shelly Laurenston continues to write this storyline, and considering that she just introduced a new villain, I'm sure she has further plans for them. At this point, there are so many characters and side stories, that I wouldn't recommend jumping in here. Really, do yourself a favor and at least start with Book 1. Better yet, go back to the original Pride series as they are all a pretty wild ride.

As always, I wish there had been a bit more romance between Nelle, the upscale, fabulously wealthy member of Max McKilligan's honey badger crew, and Keane, a rough and tumble, grumpy Asian tiger. I did feel like there was a bit more in this installment than there has been in the last two books, that featured Mads and Tock falling for Keane's 2 brothers. I feel like Keane subconsciously knows that falling in love with Nelle is inevitable given what happened to his brothers. Certainly, he doesn't really fight it. As for Nelle, the grumpier and more irrational he gets, the more she finds him "adorable". My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

There are so many characters in this story and subplots going on. I have most of the books in this series and every time I think with this new one I have things figured out but I don't. I definitely need a last time and character tree.

The story moves quickly and follows the Badgers as they continue to find love and fight the lions.

We are back in the suburbs with what has grown to be an absurd mix of shifters (badgers, bears, cats, and wolves?) and a very stressed out Charlie. While she bakes, not to murd3r everyone coming for her family, while her sisters fall in love and go off on their own adventures, and while old she badgers (“crones” with the spirits of 16 yros) continue to create worldwide incidents - Charlie is trying to keep herself from going off to decimate the lions that decided honey badgers were disposable chew toys.

With this as the backdrop, Nelle Zhao (Gong Zhao - I am obsessed with the sound of her name), is fighting off her annoying sister preparing for marriage, trying to get in some practice for her upcoming basketball championship, spending time with and falling in love with Keane (the big-bro Siberian tiger shifter), and ensuring that Charlie is kept calm - VERY VERY calm.

It’s a pity it doesn’t work. 🤭

Nelle Zhao is a multifaceted individual - fashionista, socialite, basketball player, and self-appointed manager of those around her, particularly the MacKilligans. When her latest efforts to keep them in control land her in Paris, tiger shifter Keane Malone reluctantly joins her, and chaos soon ensues, with kidnappings and explosions following - all par for the course when honey badgers are involved.

If you enjoy shifter romances where the dialogue comes with a healthy dose of sarcasm, then To Kill A Badger, the sixth book in the Honey Badger Chronicles is a must-read. This series has been a wild ride, with each instalment delivering laugh-out-loud humour, drama, and a cast of quirky characters who will stop at nothing to protect their own.Be warned, though: with its vast cast of characters and intricate arcing storyline involving the evil De Medici lions and their feud with the MacKilligan sisters, you'll likely feel a bit lost if you haven't read the previous books. However, all the various threads, involving the MacKilligans, the Malones and Van Holtz, come together in a cohesive finale as the plot involving the De Medicis finally reaches its climax. I loved the addition of the crones as Max dubbed them, the four postmenopausal women behaving badly determined to show they weren’t too old while perhaps giving a glimpse of a future Max and her teammates. The actual romance between Nelle and Keane seemed to get lost in the overall story and felt almost like an afterthought. Then again, Nelle did appear to manage Keane into a boyfriend role without him realising and make him forget he was supposed to be focused on catching his father's killer. My favourite parts of the book though were when the focus of the story switched back to Carthage Street, where the eternally baking Charlie schemed and plotted to put an end to the threat the De Medicis posed to her sisters once and for all.

Her female characters are always strong, and I’ve loved so many of her books but there is just something special about the honey badgers. The romance centers around Nelle and Keane but there are so many other things going on that the romance is not the focus. You eventually get some spice but that’s a bonus and not the main plot point. My only issue with these books (which is a ME problem not a complaint about the writing) is that there are so many characters now that I have a hard time keeping track of who is who and how they all tie in together. I read over 100 books a year and my brain no longer has the capacity to hold on to that much info, so I’m sure I lose some of the enjoyment of seeing characters pop in or even their ties to previous books. Despite that I’m still able to sit back, laugh and enjoy the absolute havoc and destruction these characters bring to the page.

This whole series is hilarious. To Kill a Badger focuses primarily on Nelle, one of Max's teammates, and Keane Malone, a tiger shifter, as they try to set some wrongs right while crashing about Europe in the company of a group of older she- badgers (or the Crones, as Max infuriatingly refers to them!)
The de Medicis have finally pushed them too far, and things have come to a head. Nelle is off, with help, to try to convince the various honey badger families to unite against this threat with her new beau in tow. Part romance, part adventure and always amazing I cant tell how glad I am that I ignored the cheesy romance covers the first books in this series had and gave them a go. They are so very much better than those initial covers led me to believe. This whole extended family that Charlie, Max and Stevie created is one of my favorite shifter groups ever.
My only complaints are that this, apparently the last in the series and that there just was not enough Charlie and Stevie in it. Small complaints to be sure, but there.
Otherwise it was a delightfully good time, with criminal shenanigans, violence and just enough Freddy to remind you why he's the ABOSOLUTE WORST ever!

Thank you to Net Galley for an E-Arc in exchange for my honest opinion,

TO KILL A BADGER is the sixth instalment in Shelly Laurenston’s contemporary, adult HONEY BADGER CHRONICLES paranormal, romance series-set in the author’s Magnus Pack and Pride Worlds. This is Amur tiger shifter Keane Malone, and Honey Badger shifter Nelle Zhao’s story line. TO KILL A BADGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several third person perspectives including Keane and Nelle TO KILL A BADGER continues to focus on the take-down of a human trafficking ring, and the ongoing investigation into a powerful drug created to take down the honey badger shifters but the past is taking aim with the return of the large European Lion Pride known as the de Medici’s, a group of powerful lions who have targeted the MacKilligan family in the wake of the murder of their patriarch and father. As Nelle is best friends and part of the MacKilligan extended family, she is determined to end the war before it begins but the arrival of the larger extended family of Malones, she finds herself facing not only our story line hero but a family of she-lions determined to protect one of their own.

The world building is once again complex, complicated and detailed with numerous references to shifter sports league, powerful shifter control groups (The Group, BPC, Katzenhaus, The Board) including families and deep ops organization, most of whom we met in the PACK and PRIDE series. The powerful and often crazy MacKilligan clan of honey badgers whose dynamic abilities and persuasive tactics are at the heart of many ops and take downs find themselves at an impasse when their own patriarch forces their hand in an effort to end a war not of their making.

The relationship between Keane and Nelle begins acrimoniously as Keane wants nothing to do with the Badgers and their extended families but Keane is pulled into Nelle’s around the globe journey as she looks for help in taking down the de Medici Group, only to discover betrayal when it comes time to fight. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, supernatural, dominant and commanding secondary and supporting characters including wolves, bears, lions, tigers, hyenas, badgers and the return of the foxes. We are reintroduced to Nelle’s extended blood family and family of the heart (MacKilligan); Keane’s brothers Finn, Dale and Shay, several Van Holtz from a different generation, and the Dunn Triplets-always fun to watch the bears run when Charlie sets about on a baking frenzy.

TO KILL A BADGER is another comprehensive and intricate story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, espionage and madness, family and friendships, relationships and love. The action packed, character driven premise is edgy, fast paced and full of snark, humor and fun-the darker elements require a great sense of humor, after all, it is a paranormal story and ultimately, all of the shifters are predators, and therefore, killing is part of the cycle of life.

I think I need to start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Ms. Laurenston and specifically the Honey Badger Series. I have read all 5 prior books in this series and was THRILLED to receive the ARC for book 6. With that being said, I'm not exactly sure what went wrong for me with this book, but I had an extremely difficult time getting into the book. I kept putting the book down after reading a few chapters and literally had to MAKE myself keep coming back to start the book again when in the past, I devoured each new installment within a day - usually in one sitting.

What was the problem? Honestly, I'm not really sure other than there was too much going on. This story was supposed to be Keane and Nelle's story, but I NEVER felt any chemistry between the two of them and regardless, they seemed like a sidenote. And Nelle, what the heck happened to her? She had an 180-degree personality change and that was hard to fathom. It truly kept pulling me out of the story.

There was the competing storyline of the 4 older Honey Badgers- The Crones (and that was even MORE all over the place). Then there was the whole thing going on with our favorite gang of Charlie, Stevie and Max...and all of Max's friends. In this book it encompassed the bears and the lions who were all camping on the girl's street to protect them. Unfortunately, it was so confusing at times. I've read all of the books and at times I was completely confused with the myriads of characters and who belonged to whom - familywise. Not to mention who was actually fighting whom. I mean, the Crones were on their own mission, the girls were dealing with the consequences of Charlie's actions - not to mention the thing with Freddy.

Then main thing- or at least the thing that SHOULD have been the main thing (because remember - it was Keane and Nelle's story) there was the whole crazy events in Paris.

Like I said. It just felt like it was all over the place and then; to make things worse, it just seemed to lose all its steam in the middle, and the pace just began to drag. I WANTED to be excited. Heck, this series usually makes me laugh out loud so many times during their shenanigans, but for some reason, I don't think I did that once.

Who knows? Maybe it was me. Maybe I just wasn't in the right head space. I have no clue.

Does that mean I'm going to stop going forward on this series? Absolutely not.

Everyone is allowed a one off and Ms. Laurenston has more than earned her credit with me. I DO love this world she has created, and I adore the characters and their relationships - so I will be waiting on the next book and hopefully it will be AMAZING.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing | Kensington for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. This book will be out for publication on August 26, 2025.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE COVER !!!!
WELL that was such an amazing book to read , I need to mention that first 10 chapters had slow rhythm that I put it aside for a while but after that I enjoyed reading it

This entire series is laugh-out-loud hilarious and the huge cast of characters only adds to the chaos! Most of them are totally unhinged which keeps you entertained by every moment. I really enjoy how each side character gets their time to shine. This was such a fun read!

The honey badgers are back, and I am here for them!

To Kill A Badger is Nelle and Uncle Mean's (I mean Keane's) story. It's fun and funny and irreverent. There are so many stories and side-stories and subplots and characters and honey badgers causing chaos and destruction and mayhem and giving absolutely no f'ks. And I enjoyed every word and all the chaos!
Loves me some honey badgers!!!!

Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Another great addition to the Honey Badger Shifter series. This time starring the older group of Badger women and the younger group that started the series. The series was fun with a lot of adventure. The romance definitely came in a bit later for the story, unlike some of Laurenston's other stories. But, as a whole enjoyed and look forward to more books in the series. (Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington for the ARC)

Aside from Charlie's book (Hot and Badgered), this is undoubtedly my favorite badger book. This is the grumpy/sunshine trope with a side of crazed honey badgers (honey badger don't care), an Amur tiger with true cat-like tendencies (knocking stuff over just because), and some of the best banter. I fear this may be the last of the Honey Badger books, but it has been so worth it. There is an exciting plot with lots of twists and turns. Some terrible animals and an evil human who gets the upper hand briefly. Some of the finest moments come from the Gen X honey badgers who are bound and determined to relive their youth with as much crazy as possible. I have these books on audio and listen to them frequently. There's just something about this world of shifters that is funny, engaging, and a joy to read. And the honey badgers always win. Who could ask for more? And did you know the honey badgers are really running everything? And doing it with a bad attitude. Give yourself a treat and read this entire series, but if you want to jump in here, you can still have a blast!

Thank you, NetGalley and Kensington Publications, for the eArc. These opinions are my own.

Nelle Zhao is a social media maven who knows what matters. And the only thing that matters right now is survival. Not easy, though, when her honey badger teammates attract trouble the way she attracts attention. She didn’t know when it became her job to protect the ones she cares about from themselves, but even she has to admit…she’s really good at it. Too bad some people don’t appreciate when she’s being helpful. Especially Keane Malone, who doesn’t know how to accept a friendly paw. But Nelle excels at helping! And at ignoring other people’s irrational demands, such as doing it all alone. Keane, poor pretty kitty, doesn’t understand the kind of assistance a shit-starting honey badger like Nelle can truly offer . . .

Keane knows two things—he doesn’t like other people, and he is going to crush the de Medicis, an evil coalition of male lion shifters who are not only snatching innocent humans for fun and profit, but also killed his father. And for once, he may not be able to fight this fight alone, forcing him to let long-legged, jet-setting Nelle join the fight. And getting close to Nelle is suddenly bringing out his roar . . .

I didn't know I liked shifter novels until The Honey Badger Chronicles. Laurenston keeps the pace up and the insanity moving in the sixth of the series. If you like things over the top, this is the series to pick up.
