This was a fun book to read, very readable. It provides a lot of historical context but doesn’t bog you down with too much in terms of technicals.

As a history buff, I found this historical details interesting and enjoyed reading about the process of the treasure hunt (pun intended). The author did a really good job pacing the book as well. While I understand that Dooley’s background is important in shaping who he is and why is is the way he is, it was a bit boarderline on “too much”. If what he claims is true, and the author acknowledged Dooley’s fondness of embellishment, he did lead a really interesting life, but to me, the middle third of the book found me getting a little bored with all the details leading up to is discovery in the Seville archive.

Overall, would recommend for history fans and people in general looking for a good “treasure hunt”
