As much as I loved learning about the sharks and how to protect them, my absolute FAVOURITE part about the reading experience was how you could hear the authors passion flowing through every word. I’ve always loved and adored sharks, as someone who is autistic, sharks are my thing. I didn’t know that there were things I didn’t know about sharks, but even I learnt a lot from this book. I fact I read I had to relay it to all my family and they were extremely fascinated as well. The information was structured and organised so well, it was very clear to understand and had a very straight forward direction it was heading. This has got to be one of my favourite shark reads in a long time. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to read this book early, I really hope the author continues their passion in educating the general public about marine life and marine conservation, it’s just an important topic at this moment in time. Thank you

Sharks
Two pages in and I'm looking up the cutest tiny biolumincent dwarf lanternshark.
This book is great to read and brush up on cool shark facts before shark week!
The photos in this book are of live animals, close up of teeth, and some preserved specimins.
The bold and short fun facts are great to break up the longer paragraphs of reading.
Other titles in the series explore the world of many other amazing animals!

AHHH I LOVE SHARKS. I’m so glad they’re getting the recognition they deserve and that people are making books to fight the misinformations from the medias kids consumes!!!!
The first few pages, as well as the last few pages are a bit more text heavy, but the rest is very nicely cut with fun facts and images. The pictures are great, actually! I really loved the one with the cute Angel Shark hiding under the sand, as well as the one comparing the teeth! The first two chapters are super interesting in my opinion, and the second one specifically had a lot of really fun facts.
I found myself learning a lot of new bits of information which was so fun! It was really simple to get through, and I could definitely see myself reading this with a curious child. Some of the placement / formatting of the pages seems a bit odd, but as I am reading the online version it’s very possible that it looks completely fine in print.
It was very nice to see a whole section talk about the dangers sharks are in, but I think the climate change portion might be a bit text heavy and complicated for a younger audience? I feel like it would have won from being a bit more sectioned with images / examples like the rest.
(Although maybe my perception of who will read this is a bit off because they do talk about subject that are a bit more intense than I was expected)
I liked that they included ways for children to actually make a difference by looking into the products they use, although a little boo for promoting the kind of swimming-with-the-sharks tourism.
In the end I thought this was a nicely rounded book to introduce children to sharks, and I really liked that there was questions at the end for them to reflect on what they have just read; as well as resources if they want to read more!

The World of Sharks is THE PERFECT upper elementary science text. With the ever increasing interest in sharks and video documentaries, having a quality text with immersive content is what kids needed all along. This will not only be a shared classroom read but a permanent addition to our science bookshelf.

This book had great information on sharks and good pictures. I would say its for older grades maybe 3rd and higher. I think shark lovers would definitely be interested in this book. But it didn't grab my attention.

Awesome book! Right off the bat I will say that this book goes into a lot of depth about one specific topic, which is great for young readers that are highly interested in this topic, which I think is likely a sizable number. While a lot of the information in this book felt like random trivia facts, the book still flowed nicely and I was engaged the entire time I was reading. Additionally, these seemingly random facts can be connected to all of the other ideas that are touched upon in the book, and I think that young readers will feel excited to share what they've learned with those around them. Lastly, I would say that I learned a lot of new things from reading this book, so many other readers will learn stuff too. Bravo!
