I do love a good marriage of convenience romance and so I thought this might be fun, however Jude was such a jerk and didn’t change his tune until about the 75% mark. The guy was a mean chauvinist, and I didn’t have much respect for Bess taking his treatment.

I’ve read some romances that stood up well over the years, but this isn’t one of them. Although, I don’t think the story being out of date was the issue. This was a hate-to-love romance with way too much hate.

I listened to the audio version narrated by Todd McLaren. He has a pleasing masculine voice and I enjoyed his performance of Jude. His female voices were satisfactory.
