To witness the Genocide through Plestia's eyes is something that I am both grateful for and also angry with. I'm grateful for the amount of bravery, determination and courage it takes to share her journal entries with the entire world when she has already documented the genocide of her people. And I'm angry that she has to. I am angry that she has to continue to lay her life bare at the feet of others to get them to open their eyes to the evils that Israel enacts on Palestinians and I'm angry that Plestia has had to experience any of this.

The Eyes of Gaza is a painful and impactful window into the early days of the Genocide. For those who have been advocating for a ceasefire and calling for the end of the Occupation, this will feel familiar as we followed Plestia's live recordings. But there is a distinct vulnerability in these writings because they were meant for herself. The majority of us will never understand what she has gone through, or what Palestinians are still going through. And while this book made me feel frustrated and heartbroken and angry and terrified, it provides an important insight into a fraction of the real experience.
