I wanted to DNF this book so bad but it was playing in the car on a long drive & couldn’t really change it. By the time I could, I was fully invested in finding out how Julie Tudor would get her come uppance since she definitely was a psychopath. Worst.character.ever! She was completely delusional & just kept going on and on about how everyone loved her when they were merely tolerating her. I would not recommend this book to anyone. The writing style was good & the book was well written but it was just too much listening to Julie Tudor being a crazy person. The narrator was excellent & I enjoyed listening to her read.

Thanks to NetGalley, Jennifer Holdich, Hodder & Stoughton and Tantor Media for a copy of this audiobook.

My review is coming a few weeks after reading the book. But unfortunately it ended up being very forgettable.
I recall that I didnt enjoy Jule as a character. I know the point is that you are following someone who is unstable but it became really repetitive. She was constantly just delusional and logically how had she not gotten caught before now. I previously enjoyed reading Sweetpea by C. J. Skuse which I think executed a similar premise better and with more humor.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tantor Audio for an advanced audiobook for review.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me.
I really enjoyed it until about halfway and I quickly lost interest. The story started to become slow and jump around more.
I really liked Julie as a character and thought her POV was interesting! The story started to become repetitive and losing steam for me.
I really enjoyed Clare Corbett as a narrator! I’d definitely love to listen to her in future books! Her voice was clear, concise and easy to understand even at 2x speed.
Thank you for the ALC of Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath.

i had pretty high hopes for this since i love any sort of twisted female serial killer/stalker book but this one just didn't land for me- i do think listening to this on audio did add to the experience because the narrator did a great job invoking the emotions and dry humour. i would describe this as a feminist twist on YOU!

Snark, suspense, and just the right amount of chaos .Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is what happens when a psychological thriller gets a personality transplant — and it totally works. Julie’s voice is razor-sharp, brutally honest, and hilarious in that “am I supposed to be laughing?” kind of way. Think true crime meets wine-fueled rant.

The pacing dips here and there, and I wanted a bit more from the side characters, but the originality and dark humor carried it through. The audiobook really brings Julie to life — like your most unfiltered friend spilling tea with murder on the side.

Not perfect, but definitely unforgettable.

Thanks to NetGalley and Tantor for the early listen!

Julie Tudor, a 50-year-old modest woman, works in a cubicle daily and goes unnoticed by most. Julie is in love with Sean, Sean may be in love with another woman. But Julie has experienced this before and she knows just how to handle this little obstacle …..

Julie Tudor is NOT a stalker, murderer of psychopath.

I struggled to finish this one, the story was a bit all over and Julie was just not much of an interesting character.

Thank you to Tantor Audio and @netgalley for this advanced listener copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Julie Tudor is nearing 50 with a job she enjoys, a house she loves, and a man she is deeply in love with. The love of her life Sean is nearly half her age and for some reason believes he is in love with someone else though. This, however, is not the first time that this situation has happened to Julie. And she knows just how to fix the problem and be the only woman in Sean's life.

I went into listening to this audiobook basically blind, not knowing what to expect. It was such an interesting mix of appalling events and this cute little old lady vibe. I don't quite know how, but the book just worked with both elements. It felt like a very novel concept and it was enjoyable to listen to the story. I found myself switching between thinking of Julie as this nice, sweet older woman and this deluded psychopath. And the narration was key to the difference in perspectives, as the actions Julie was taking sounded so sweet via the narration. The only thing that I struggled with a bit was the timeline and keeping the two time period plot lines in order.

One thing I CAN tell you after listening to this book is that Julie Tudor is undeniably a psychopath!

This is completely unhinged and a lot of fun. The fact that this stays as fun as it does is an accomplishment. I was afraid it was gonna get pretty grim. The where are we going from here of it all kept me reading. A really darkly fun read.

I did not finish my book. It was too chaotic and did not hold my attention. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

I absolutely loved this book. I didn’t know what to expect going in and it did take me a few chapters to really get hooked, but the storyline told from Julie’s perspective was SO well written. The way the author has Julie justify and see things in a different light- the way I feel a psychopath would- was excellent. The fact that we see Julie’s life from adolescence through adulthood was also very interesting and made me want to read more. Highly recommend this book!

Can we just ... STOP with the books about female serial murderers for a while? I always come away disappointed, and this time is no different. Julie is in her 50s, still sporting the "classic" Princess Di hairdo, and has been a psychopathic stalker for basically her entire life. Now, she has set her sights on Sean, her twentysomething colleague. Sean knows she exists, but is obviously not interested in Julie, but in her very twisted mind, he is just playing it cool and trying to get shot of his girlfriend so he can be in true love with "Jules," as he calls her.

Being inside this woman's head is almost painful. Lots of folks are clueless, but clueless and homicidal, and justifying her actions every step of the way, is not fun to read.

Clare Corbett is a very good narrator and the only reason I gave this book 3 stars - without her it'd be a flat 2.

Julie is UNHINGED 👀

I have a soft spot for the chaos and Julie’s chilling nonchalance and staggering lack of self-awareness are truly something to behold. Her delusion and obsession—equal parts disturbing and magnetic—make her a wildly entertaining, darkly comic anti-heroine and an utterly unreliable narrator.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, and you’ll absolutely be drawn in. While I’m unsure about the book’s lasting impact as a whole, there’s no denying that Julie herself is unforgettable.

Julie Tudor is Not a psychopath by Jennifer Holdich
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ /5 stars 💻🔪

Okay but… Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath had me cracking up one minute and feeling kinda bad for Julie the next 😅 She's a 49-year-old office queen who’s organized, polished, and a total nightmare! When her much younger coworker (and obsession) finds love elsewhere, Julie’s immediate response is murder...naturally.

It gave big Sweetpea energy (I’ve only watched the show) with that unhinged, chaotic woman dark comedy vibe I love. Julie is such a wild narrator, so delusional and yet soooo entertaining.

The audiobook?? Flawless. Clare Corbett slayed the narration and made Julie’s voice so real I felt like I was being personally dragged into her descent 😂

It’s disturbing, funny, sad, and weirdly relatable at times (don’t look at me 👀).

If you love dark humor, slightly unhinged women, and chaotic murder plans, this one's for you.

🖤 Thank you to @tantoraudio and NetGalley for the ALC!

Sharp, darkly funny, and surprisingly heartfelt

"Julie Tudor is Not a Psychopath" is a wickedly clever character study wrapped in a dark comedy. The protagonist, Julie, walks a tightrope between unsettling and endearing, pulling you into her twisted-yet-logical view of the world. The writing is crisp, with plenty of biting humor and unexpected moments of emotional depth.

While the plot occasionally meanders and some secondary characters feel underdeveloped, the novel’s voice and psychological insight more than make up for it. If you're into morally complex heroines and offbeat storytelling, this one’s for you.

This book was very well-written and gripping. If you’re a fan of the Maid series or Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, then you’ll like this book.

I’m not sure if Julie Tudor is a psychopath but she ain’t right. Her relationship to reality is casual, constructing the world as she would rather it be. Her main MO is forming deep, passionate attachments to unavailable men at the barest of civilities. Even with reality poking holes in her fantasy, her denial run deeps. I could admire her commit to chosen fiction if it didn’t have a body count.

I’m normally not big on the cringe factor and secondhand embarrassment her delusions elicited but I could not look away. It’s like a car crash. However crazy you think it’s going to get, you’re underestimating our protagonist.

I tried to find author interviews because I’d love to hear how Holdich created this character. I haven’t been able to find any so if you come across any, send them my way. I enjoyed this as an ALC and Clare Corbett did a fantastic job. She made these characters come alive.

There is a lesson about making better choices, accepting what we can’t change, and seeing what’s in front of you. But we can see that some people never really change. Big thanks to Tantor Audio and NetGalley. It was a helluva ride 4/5

This was a wild ride! I was able to listen to it in one day! It was dark, funny, and at some points strange and I could not stop. The narrator did a good job bringing Julie to life. I wish we would have learned more about Julie and what made her this way. I can’t say much because it could ruin the fun but I think it is safe to say that Julie Tudor is most definitely a psychopath.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is a witty and unique spin on the psychological thriller genre, with a bold narrator and an offbeat charm that sets it apart. Jennifer Holdich delivers a fresh concept, blending dark humor with suspense in a way that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Julie, the main character, is sharp-tongued, self-aware, and delightfully unfiltered. Her voice, especially in audio, feels like listening to your snarkiest friend tell you a wild story over coffee. While her personality won’t be for everyone, I personally found her perspective both refreshing and chaotic in a fun way.

The story itself had strong moments and clever dialogue, though the pacing wavered at times. There were a few sections that felt a bit drawn out or uneven, and I wished for a little more depth in the supporting characters. Still, the originality and bold tone made it worth listening to.

The audiobook narration was solid and matched Julie's personality well, enhancing the overall experience.

Overall, this was an entertaining, slightly dark, and wildly different kind of thriller. Not quite a knockout for me, but definitely a memorable ride!

Julie Tudor is in fact a psychopath. The beginning was a bit slow, but after learning a a bit more about Julie, her quirks are quite interesting. She reminded me a bit of Eleanor Oliphant. I liked that the ending was wrapped up neatly, but what happened right before it seemed to end in quite abruptly. I wish that would’ve been hashed out a bit more. I loved Gareth.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!

This was such a ride. She was so delulu and honestly, im surprised it took so long for it to spiral the way it did.

This story kept my attention until the very end and was entertaining. It had just the right amount of crazy and mystery and drama.
