I fell like Julie and Joe Goldberg would be friends 😅
Obviously with the title saying “not a psychopath,” I could only assume she really would be a psychopath… after finishing the book, I can indeed confirm that Julie IS a psychopath!
I can’t believe it took until she was into her 50’s for karma to catch up to her.
I really felt for Sean throughout the story. I felt like there were definitely signs of Jules’ craziness way before anyone in his life got hurt - but what could he have done? How could he have known she’d kill all of his love interests?

2.5 ⭐⭐✨ rounded up to 3⭐⭐⭐ for fantastic narration.
‼️Outlier Alert‼️
Dark humor is my love language so requesting this was an obvious choice. However, aside from a few chuckle worthy quips I didn't find this funny. The title and cover bring to mind a humorous feeling while the atmosphere of the novel is rather flat.
Julie and Sean are in the throes of a workplace love affair for the ages the trouble is Sean has no idea. No worries because Julie isn't going to let details like reciprocation or his wife destroy their relationship.
The plot became monotonous early on because it's a rinse and repeat of Julie's delusional romantic exploits. For dark humor to land there needs to be razor sharp wit. The timeline flashes back and forth and shows Julie at different ages with the same issues. The supporting characters lack dimension which I could give that a pass because the story is told through Julie's eyes but when you add that to a repetitive plot it makes for blah reading. What makes Julie's story more sad than darkly funny is how she gains little through her actions and when something does work out it's accidental. She is an unhinged character and inept in social situations making her an unreliable narrator. Even when reality knocks at her front door she can't recognize it because her delusions are what she lives for. She comes across as someone who needs psychological help but has fallen through the cracks being easy to overlook. The writing is serviceable, and the narrator was a perfect fit for the material. I almost DNF this early on but pressed on because of the narration.
A strong premise but weak execution made this read like a missed opportunity.

Thank you to RBmedia for providing an ALC via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley for an AAC in for an honest review. Such a fun read. We follow the main character, which you realize early on is definitely psychotic and becomes obsessed with multiple men which leads to murder. The audiobook was so good and the narrator did such a good job portraying the characters. Definitely recommend for a good time.

Though the subject matter is not, this debut psychological thriller was a hoot because of the way the author uses dark humor to make the main character "almost" endearing.
Julie Tudor has had quite the life, constantly having to fight for her love interest du jour. Eliminating romantic rivals is a lot of work. She works in the financial world and is a whiz with spreadsheets, but her job isn't her main focus. Her colleague, 25-year-old, Sean, is the man of her dreams. Even though he's half her age, Julie is convinced her feelings are reciprocated despite the fact that Sean keeps hooking up with other women. What to do? She's tired of waiting for him.
Told from Julie's delusional perspective, the book is definitely black comedy as she continues to spiral. She must be on the spectrum because she totally lacks any sort of ability to read a room or honestly analyze her situations. She gets a little fast and loose with those eliminations and her coworkers become increasingly aware that a real psycho is amongst them.
I loved the tone and the writing in this novel. I was able to listen to the audio book while also following along in the e-book ARC, both provided by the publishers. The narrator, Clare Corbett, strikes just the right notes of self righteousness and defensiveness as she voices Julie. She does a good job with the rest of the characters as well. The production definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the book.

Sadly this one was a bit confusing and slow to get started. I didn’t find myself pulled into even after making significant progress into the book. The narrator was good and the production of thr audio was also done well. But the story overall didn’t work for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC audio of this title! I was so excited when I got the notification because I had already purchased the physical copy of this book.
Oh Julie, Julie, Julie! She really had no idea that she was in fact a psychopath. She had some pretty funny dark humor going on inside her head. I think this book would be great for fans of The Coworker by Freda McFadden. Julie definitely gave me Dawn Schiff vibes but in the best way. I enjoyed this book!

Such a wild ride—loved every minute!
This was such a fun read! Jools is completely unhinged in the most entertaining way. She's so sharp and comedic, you almost forget… is she actually a psychopath? No, she couldn’t be… could she? 😅
Charming, chaotic, and oddly lovable. Plus, the cover? Absolute beautiful chaos 👏🏼
She’s got the dream home (wonder how she got the money for it, but nothing has been proved), and the man of her dreams.
Julie Tudor is not a stalker.
Sean is 25 and the love of Julie’s life. The only problem? He thinks he's in love with someone else.
And Julie Tudor is definitely, definitely not a serial killer.
But Julie has been in a situation like this before. And if there’s one thing she knows, it’s how to get rid of the competition…
The narrator was also very lovely and made the audio so much better!

This might not be for everyone, but if you like dark, hilarious and cringe-worthy characters, you will probably laugh as much as I did listening to this. Jennifer Tudor thinks she's being perfectly rational, and it was quite a journey watching her deal with people who couldn't understand her. By the end, I was physically turning my head and wanting to hide my eyes.
The reader did such a fantastic job conveying this complicated character, and even now I'm not sure if I'm at least a little sympathetic. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me listen to this audiobook

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is a wildly entertaining and darkly thrilling read. Julie, the unapologetically blunt FMC, narrates the story with razor-sharp wit and a hilariously skewed sense of reality—especially when it comes to men. Watching her justify and process her increasingly questionable actions is both shocking and fascinating. The audiobook, narrated by Clare Corbett, is absolutely phenomenal—she brings Julie’s twisted charm to life with pitch-perfect delivery. With its perfect blend of dark humor, charm, and suspense, this one will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is an absolutely wild ride from start to finish. I was hooked by every moment of Julie in all of her psychopathic delusional glory. This dark thriller unfolds across multiple timelines—past, present, and future—creating a gripping, layered narrative. Clare Corbett’s narration adds depth and intensity, perfectly capturing Jennifer Holdich’s twisted tale.
Thank you to NetGalley & Tantor Audio for letting me read this ARC.

I thought I would like listening to this more but I did not like the narrator`s voice or the writing style as much as I had hoped. This was somewhat funny and Julie Tudor was for sure a psychopath that needed help. There were just some parts of this book that were just too creepy and also a little boring. Sadly I think I was not the right audience for this book.

I absolutely loved this. This book is right up my alley. I absolutely love when obsession takes a dark and twisted turn even if these do feel a little unrealistic. Even still i absolutely adored this. I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy more funny take on a thriller.

Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is a quirky, clever, darkly funny ride through one woman’s unraveling. Julie’s inner monologue is both chaotic and relatable, balancing dry humor with moments of emotional depth. The writing is sharp and fast-paced, with just the right amount of absurdity to make you laugh and then pause.
Some plot points felt a little exaggerated, but honestly, it fits the tone. If you like messy female leads, unreliable narrators, and stories that don’t follow a neat emotional arc this one’s for you.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc.

3.5 stars rounded up.
Julie Tudor IS in fact a psychopath. This was a funny, dark comedy trip into a mad woman’s brain. The narration was great and I had a good time!

Tsk, tsk, tsk, Julie! Shame on you.
Julie Tudor is quite the character for sure. She’s a little confused about reality and how some others (especially men) see and think about her. This causes her to do some very interesting things.
I quite enjoyed the story. It started out strong though it slowed down a bit in the middle. Overall, I think Julie Tudor Is Not a Psychopath is a fun story.
The narrator, Clare Corbett, did a great job!
NetGalley, and Tantor Audio, thank you for this advanced copy.

The cover of Julie Tudor Is Not A Psychopath by Jennifer Holdich is what drew me in. Julie is sometimes unhinged in this audiobook and at 89% in, it really kicks off. Julie’s obsessions are kinda repetitive for most of the time though. It was a fun listen and I enjoyed the narrator, Clare Corbett. My rating is 3.5 stars, rounded up. ALC was provided by Tantor Audio via NetGalley. Received an audiobook listening copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I must admit, the interesting cover caught my eye and lured me in like a moth to a flame! This delightful read delivered exactly what I anticipated—pure, unadulterated fun!
Julie Tudor, a 49-year-old office professional with a nice house and a seemingly perfect life, is infatuated with 25-year-old Sean, who is in love with someone else. Despite her admiration for Sean, Julie is "not" a psychopath, stalker, or serial killer. However, she has experience with competition in love and has a dark perspective on eliminating it for the sake of true love...
Meet Julie, our main character, who is nothing short of a fascinating enigma. Obsessed with people and relationships, she manages to navigate her quirky behavior for far too long. In her mind, she’s living out full-blown romances, interpreting every little gesture as a sign of mutual affection. Sounds a bit unhinged, right? Well, that’s because she is! Julie is spunky, a tad eccentric, and downright hilarious!
I was fortunate enough to snag both the audiobook and the eBook versions, and let me tell you, they were both a treat! However, the audiobook truly stole the show. The narrator was spot-on, bringing Julie’s wild antics to life in a way that made the experience even more immersive. Bravo to the casting team for that perfect match!
If you’re in the mood for a moderately paced, darkly humorous romp that’s just a touch on the crazy side, this book is your ideal companion for those summer showers. Prepare to chuckle and shake your head in disbelief at how some people can be so delightfully extra. So, don’t hesitate—dive into the wonderfully bizarre world of Julie Tudor. It’s the perfect escape from the chaos of everyday life!

Julie Tudor and Sean Flannery are in love. At least, that's what Julie tells herself. She'll do anything to keep him, even if it involves a little blood. He's not her first love, but he will be somebody's last.
Julie Tudor isn't a psychopath; she's just a narcissist.
Julie Tudor reminds me quite a bit of Joanna Wallace's You'd Look Better as a Ghost but Julie is even less sympathetic than that book's Claire. Largely the mad ramblings of a woman who will do anything to get rid of her romantic "competition", this book is surprisingly refreshing in the way it portrays Julie as a human kind of evil while not justifying her actions. Julie is an alcoholic stalker who kills for her own convenience and desires. She is not comically evil, nor does she kill for the thrill of it. Julie has built a world of delusion that she lives in, and everything she has experienced is put through a filter that reinforces her personal myth. Her logic is consistent, even if baffling to a person who doesn't exist inside her narcissistic headspace. Primarily, there is no objective value of life in Julie's worldview, so people (or pets) who get in her way are obviously disposable; the only issue is whether the police will come round. I am somewhat surprised she didn't kill more often with how little regard she has for life.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Something about the cover told me that I needed to read it and then I sped through it. It was delightful to root for the downfall of the title character. I developed a trust for the author early on that I wouldn't be left hanging in that regard and was not disappointed. I look forward to more from the author.
The audiobook is decent. The narrator's accent is a bit thick so I had to listen at a lower speed than usual and some of the choices of character voice were rather odd or comical.

Julie Tudor is not a psychopath, hunni. Julie is extremely delusional, dangerous, and a psychopath! Heck, she was also unhinged! This book had me hooked. I finished this book in 1 day; I just had to know what Julie was going to do. I did like how we got a dual timeline, past and present, because I wanted to know how the heck she turned out like this. I highly recommend this book. Mystery, thriller, and murder. It's the fact that she got away with a lot of stuff.
The audiobook is narrated by Clare Corbett. Clare did a phenomenal job! My gosh, the extra sound effects! Chef's kiss! She was easy to listen to and also understand. I listened at 2x speed.
Thank you, Netgalley, and Tantor Audio for the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
