The Double Wife is a fast-paced, twisty domestic thriller that keeps readers questioning every character’s motives. Elizabeth Bentley has built her life around being the perfect wife to her successful husband, Don—until a shocking discovery shatters her world. A letter addressed to Don’s “wife,” but not to her, leaves Elizabeth reeling with betrayal and confusion. And before she can even confront him, Don disappears without a trace.
When the police arrive, Elizabeth learns there’s been an accident—but with no body and more questions than answers, suspicion quickly turns in her direction. As investigators dig deeper, Elizabeth realizes she isn’t the only woman caught in Don’s web of secrets. Someone else also claims to be his wife, and together they hold pieces of a puzzle that could reveal the truth…or bury them both.
LaManna delivers a story filled with lies, betrayal, and shocking revelations, all while exploring how far people will go to protect themselves—and those they love. With its blend of suspense, emotional tension, and sharp twists, The Double Wife is a gripping read for fans of domestic thrillers who love being kept on edge until the very last page.

I really enjoyed this twisty turney thriller. I guessed the ending but only just a few chapters before so it was more of a ha ha I knew it moment than a boring ending I saw coming from miles away. I listen to the audiobook and I really liked the narrator. She did a really good job with the different points of view. The story moved really fast and kept me interested the whole time. Not worth a reread but very entertaining and quick. I really did enjoy it!

The Double Wife could have been quite the thriller, a love triangle with smart and fierce women doing their best to come out on top for a true prize of a man and father. Instead, this is a chaotic story of two wholly unlikeable women who don't trust each other and are searching for a man they're supposedly both married to. I had had very little respect for wife #1, because she was a doormat and willing to forgive way too much, and was kind of scared of wife #2, because she seemed like a money-grubbing piece of you know what. Even worse, the children somehow become involved and the twisty absurdity becomes overwhelming.
I blazed through this book, hoping it would get better, but I got to the end and it was all wrapped up in a big WTF did I just read? It underwhelming and weird, not at all the "twisty, page-turning psychological thriller" we were promised, and the meh writing took it a level lower, because it never quite hit the mark.
I had never heard of Gina LaManna before being offered this book, but it appears she has quite the portfolio of books. I might need to find another to see how representative The Double Wife is of her work.

I liked this book a lot, I wasn't sure how they were going to wrap it up but they did a good job. Enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed LaManna's Detective Kate Rosetti series that starts with Shoot the Breeze. So I was excited to see another non-witchy offering with The Double Wife. And it was... okay... I feel like maybe she was trying to do too much. Everything I thought the book was wrapping up, another crazy (and after a while unnecessary) twist would be thrown in and the book would continue on from there. I listened to the audiobook and kept finding myself zoning out at times.... but not really missing anything. The two wives were a bit insufferable and I didn't really like them. The ending was quite unbelievable to me and, again, didn't have to drag on as long as it did. I also thought the epilogue was unnecessary. All in all, it was okay. The narrators were good and I wasn't upset about having their voices in my head for a few hours. The middle of the book was VERY repetitive and slogged on with basically the same inner monologue from the characters over and over.

I personally wasn’t a fan of this one. It was extremely slow moving and it felt like nothing really happened until the last quarter of the book. The epilogue could’ve been juicier had the author taken a different approach, but I won’t say more than that so as to not give away any spoilers.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this audiobook! This book was soooooo freaking amazing!! I will be recommending this book to all my friends. I just finished this book and I am absolutely mind blown!!! This book was full of great characters. 5 star read!!

Title: The Double Wife by Gina LaManna
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for the #ARC
Elizabeth Bentley’s life unravels when she discovers her husband Don has been living a double life with another woman. On their anniversary, Don mysteriously disappears, presumed dead—but with no body found, suspicion lingers and secrets come to light.
What Works
•Twists & Suspense: The book has plenty of surprises that keep you guessing about who to trust.
•Dual Perspectives: Hearing the story through both wives’ eyes adds tension and intrigue.
•Fast Pace: It’s a quick read with short, snappy chapters.
What Falls Flat
For me, it was just okay. Something about the story falls flat. While the setup is juicy and the twists are entertaining, I didn’t connect strongly with the characters, and some parts of the plot felt a little far-fetched. The drama is there, but the emotional depth isn’t always consistent.
Final Thoughts
The Double Wife is a decent domestic thriller with a bingeable quality, but it may not leave a lasting impression. If you enjoy stories of betrayal, secrets, and shocking reveals, it’s worth a read. Just don’t expect it to be unforgettable.

The Double Wife was my first experience with Gina LaManna. Her storytelling was great, and her twists I never saw coming. I listened to the audiobook version and loved it. The narrator was fantastic and really brought the story to life. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of Gina's work!

While this book kept my attention and kept me interested all the way through, I just can't say I liked it. The ending was just kind of flat and the overall story never really went anywhere. I didn't particularly like any of the characters although, they were well developed. For me, what killed it was just the ending. The story up until then was good and the audio narration was excellent. It was an easy and engaging listen overall, it was just missing a killer ending.
Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

🎧 This is exactly my kind of domestic psychological thriller! Elizabeth Bentley thinks she has the perfect life—until she finds a pager and a letter her husband has written to another wife (!!). On the night of their anniversary, the police show up to tell her he’s likely dead in an ice fishing accident, but Elizabeth knows her cautious husband would never risk going out on thin spring ice. Her search for answers leads her straight to the other woman he’s been hiding… and from there, the lies just keep unraveling.
I loved following along as the story twisted from bad to worse to jaw-dropping. No one is who they seem, and trust is in short supply. The narration was solid and kept me invested, and while some twists leaned into the unbelievable, the whole double-life angle felt chillingly possible. I mean—do we really know our spouses?
A fun, fast listen with plenty of shocks. I’ll definitely be picking up more from Gina LaManna!

This was too slow paced for me. There were some good twists and surprises. I just kind of didn’t like it. Maybe I’ll try the next work but this one is a pass for me.

The book kept my interest to the end. Story told clearly from perspectives of main characters. The ending tied up the loose ends. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.

The Double Wife is a fast-paced domestic thriller on the disappearance of a husband who vanishes on the night of his wedding anniversary. The police focus on Elizabeth, his current wife. But is she his only wife? Fasten your seatbelt for a rocky, suspenseful ride!! The narration was well-done.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this one but unfortunately it just did not deliver for me. It was such a slow paced one, absolutely not like advertised. Very disappointed.

This book was not for me. I started it. I laid aside in case it was just my mindset. I picked it up and read. And read . I think it just isn’t my kind of book.
I appreciate Netflix Galley giving me a chance to read this one. This is my honest review with no obligations to anyone.

I wouldn’t quite call this a twisted thriller.
It had some funny moments and a few twists but overall very predictable. It was a quick listen and enjoyable.
The who done it twist was predictable
Thank you NetGalley for the copy

I really liked this book. A man is supposedly killed in an ice fishing accident. His family doesn't believe it and his wife thinks he's still alive. Turns out he has another family. Also turns he was alive, but now he's dead. Who did it? And why?
That is the premise of The Double Wife by Gina LaManna. I really liked this book. It was thrilling and it was a roller coaster ride. I think for me, what sets this book apart from other thrillers with similar plots, is the fact the women don't trust each other, but are forced to work together. Not just to find out what happened to their husband, but who did it and why. When one of the kids goes missing, they have a new mystery to solve.
I also liked the ending because I actually didn't see it coming and I love books that catch me by surprise. I will recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery. If you do the audio book, it can be a little confusing because the chapters switch points of view between the wives and with one narrator, it is easy to forget which wife is telling that part of the story. The narrator was good, but it was just hard with the same voice throughout. Other than that, this is a solid mystery.

This book grabbed me right away and I did not want to stop listening to it. It was full of mystery and intrigue and kept me guessing until the end. The narration was excellent. I highly recommend this book.

Good book! The narration was done well. I was able to guess most of the twists before they happened, but that didn't take away from the story.
I was left a little dissatisfied in the end--to tie it up a little more thoroughly, a final POV of Corrine would have done that.
Overall, this was a good audiobook that kept me engaged and listening.
