I loved this book! A vanishing husband, a rival wife, and the question of who is telling the truth…these elements create an atmospheric mystery that grips early. This book was intriguing and captivating, a must read this summer!

Elizabeth is getting ready to celebrate her anniversary with her husband of 20 years, but he never shows. To make matters worse, she finds a love note in her husband’s dresser to his wife- a wife that isn’t Elizabeth. Then to put the cherry on top, her husband is presumed dead in a shady accident by the police who show up on her doorstep the next morning. Desperate for answers for her and her two children, Elizabeth does everything in her power to find the other wife to see if she had anything to do with it.

The other wife, Corinne, doesn’t have such a charming life as Elizabeth’s. She and her daughter have had to struggle with limited means and barely scrape by. But Corinne isn’t all that she seems and has a dark past. Are she and her daughter involved in the disappearance or presumed murder of their father and husband? Or is it all a ruse to cover for Elizabeth?

I had a hard time getting into this story. Neither wife seemed particularly likable and sympathy for a two timing husband is in short supply. The date of the husband seems unearned and none of the story is ever told from his perspective, and no real light is ever shed on why he did what he did. Finally, the epilogue provides little closure or satisfaction.

All that being said, the narrator was excellent and the pacing of the story worked well.

The Double Wife grabs your attention early with a strong premise and keeps the suspense simmering as small twists and revelations unfold. Elizabeth Bentley’s discovery of a mysterious pager and a note addressed to another woman kicks off a layered mystery full of secrets and deception. The pacing is solid throughout, with just enough intrigue in each chapter to keep you engaged. Some plot elements felt predictable, but there were still a few twists that landed and kept the tension alive. Discovering how each wife and each child reacted to their father's betrayal was intriguing.

While the investigation unfolds in a way that occasionally felt off (particularly the police response), it remains believable enough given the circumstances. Unfortunately, the final scene didn’t feel necessary and undercut the story’s natural resolution. The ending ultimately knocked the rating down a bit; this could have been a 4-star read without the addition.

This was my first book by Gina LaManna, and I’d definitely be interested in reading more from her in the future.

The narration was just okay, I won’t be seeking out this narrator for future audiobooks.

What would you do if police showed up on your door one night and told you that your husband is missing/presumed dead, when you thought he had just went to work? What if you fell down a rabbit hole and found out he was hiding a whole family behind your back?

You can't help but to feel bad for Elizabeth throughout the book - but as I went on, I found myself feeling really sorry for Corinne too. The two have to team up to find out what happened to their husband. But could one of them be lying? Is one hiding him? Did one KILL him?

I do have to say, I think the end got a tiny bit muddled, but it still made sense and I still enjoyed the book. I just wish it had been a little cleaner but that is just my personal preference.

The narration on this was fantastic. I really enjoyed her and how she brought both women to life.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Gina LeManna for allowing me to listen and review! Looking forward to more by this author for sure!

It would be completely awful to find out on your wedding anniversary (well, a day early) that your husband may be a two timing cheating scumbag and then have him vanish, presumed dead in the lake according to the police, so you can't even confront him about it. So frustrating! And then add in the twist that the "other" wife knew about Elizabeth and both wives have secrets but still want to find out what happened to their husband (who both are sure is not dead) and you have a crazy story that went really fast and I enjoyed quite a bit. I liked that not only do you get the viewpoints of Elizabeth and Corinne but also how their kids are affected by Don's double family. As impressed as I was that Don/Arthur was able to keep this going for 18 years, I really hoped that he would get what he deserved for being a duplicitous dude to his wives and children. It does get wild, and slightly unbelievable but I could go for it, what with Corinne's special skills (learned from her father) and the lengths both women will go to for their kids.

This was a fun thriller to listen to and the narrator, Tegan Ashton Cohan, did a great job in bringing both Corinne and Elizabeth to life while still making them distinct characters on the search for their husband while trying to protect their kids from his two timing cheating. Great twists, crazy deeds, and a wild ending!

The Double Wife, written by Gina LaManna and narrated by Tegan Ashton Cohan, is a twisty domestic suspense novel I enjoyed listening to. Elizabeth and Corinne are two wives linked by one husband. He is never directly on the page, but the two teenage daughters and one twenty-year-old son are—and definitely add to the drama between the two women. I did not predict the ending, nor the twist leading up to it. Cohan is a new narrator to me and I hope to listen to her again in the future- she was fantastic! A fun summer read- definitely recommend!!!

This was a fun thriller with interesting characters and red herrings. It was a lot about what you would do if someone you loved betrayed you in the worst way. And it was even more fascinating as a psychological picture because we got to see how two different women betrayed by the same man responded. And how this trauma extended through the generations. It was well paced and fun to read. Also the narrator was quite good and I'd listen to more of her audiobooks!

The narrators aren’t too bad and did not deter me from listening!

The storyline kept me engaged and I flew thru this audiobook in about two days because it was that good and somewhat addictive and adventurous to say the least!

I wasn’t expecting some twists and turns and definitely not the ending which left me with my mouth wide open! Definitely will recommend!

This was a fun listen. It was an easy story to follow and engaging enough that I wanted to see where it went. I figured out one of the twists earlier on, but it was still enjoyable.

Audio from Netgalley & Earc from author.

I was invested with my mind going to all crazy options of how it would go. I ended up figuring out who did it but not the final twist.

Gina is a favorite author of mine for good reason!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this. It grabbed my attention fairly quick. I typically love psychological thrillers so I was excited for this book. This book had a dual POV and was about a man with a double life. This wasn’t quite a 5 star for me just because it seemed to drag on just a little. Other than that it was a good book and I enjoyed the twist ending.

When Elizabeth Benton's husband goes missing, she starts looking into his disappearance, but what she uncovers is something incredibly bizarre. The man that she's been married to for 20 years has another wife and family.
Together, these women dig into their husband's sordid past to uncover the truth: Who is Don Benton, and where is he?

I enjoyed the overall story. I did find the narrator a little annoying, but that is not the author's fault. The ending was a bit predictable, but overall the story kept my interest. It was a solid 3 star read.

Fans of One of Us is Dead and The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose will really enjoy this book.

Gina LaManna did such a great job blending suspense with strong character work. I went into this book with no expectations, and although I predicted most of the ending, I still really enjoyed it. The journey was engaging and held my attention the whole way through.
The audiobook is fantastic. Tegan Ashton Cohan’s narration blew me away. She gives each woman such a distinct voice that it’s effortless to tell them apart, and she makes the dual POVs so engaging. Both Elizabeth and Corinne felt real and layered, and her performance captured their emotions and flaws perfectly.
Overall, a solid domestic thriller with plenty of tension and an audiobook that makes it even more immersive.

Thank You @Netgalley and @dreamscape_media for allowing me to review this ALC.

Thanks to NetGalley for the early read. I enjoyed this story until the last chapter and epilogue. The ending was all over the place and really never fully made sense. There are many ways this could have been wrapped up, but ... meh. I do recommend the book as I likely would have given it a 4.5 if not for that conclusion.

This popcorn thriller boasted a strong premise but was too slow-paced for this fastidious popcorn thriller's palate.

Compelling premise:
* Husband disappears on the eve of a couple's anniversary
* Husband has more than one wife.
* Husband's body was never retrieved. Is he dead or alive?

The first two hours of the audiobook were spent addressing the question of "Where is my husband?"

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Tegan Ashton Cohan.

Although Tegan Ashton Cohan's performance was good, the book would have benefited from two narrators since it unfolded from two POVs.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Double Wife was a twisty, engaging listen that had me hooked from the very beginning. Gina LaManna does a great job balancing suspense with character depth, and while a few plot points felt a little predictable, the final twist more than made up for it. I truly didn’t see it coming!

The pacing was solid, and the audiobook narration kept the tension high throughout. I liked how the story explored secrets and identity without getting too tangled or overly complicated. It was easy to stay invested, and the payoff at the end was definitely worth it.

A strong 4 stars from me. This is a great choice for fans of domestic thrillers with a sharp edge and a killer twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. This review reflects my honest thoughts and opinions as a NetGalley reviewer.

This was my first book by author Gina LaManna. If all her books are like this one, sign me up for more!! As a lover of psychological thrillers, this book was a delicious surprise that I gobbled up in one sitting! Filled with so many twists and turns the hits just kept on coming.

On the eve of their anniversary, Elizabeth is waiting for her husband Don to return home for dinner when she comes across a letter addressed to his wife. There is only one problem. The name on the envelope is not hers. While trying to wrap her head around what she has just found, there is a knock on the door. Elizabeth opens it, to find there are police officers on her doorstep, and she is informed that Don has been in an accident and is missing.

As an investigation gets underway, Elizabeth takes matters into her own hands. Convinced the secrets lie with her, she sets out to find the other wife.

I had so much fun with this book that I did not want it to end. The author did a tremendous job crafting such believable characters that I felt a range of emotions for each of them throughout. There were even moments when I found myself rooting for people you would not expect.
It is safe to say that the author toys with your emotions and psyche from cover to cover and it is such a wild and delightful ride.

A big thank you to Dreamscape Media for the ALC of this audio book. It was a fabulous presentation and narrator Tegan Ashton Cohan was perfection. She did an amazing job reading and bringing this story and the characters to life.

Man this book was so unhinged but in such a good way. And my goodness I flew through this book! This is one of the few times I actually wouldn’t have minded it if it were a little longer. But the author did a great job setting up a mystery and supplying the suspects. Just overall a really good domestic thriller that will have you flying through it. If you like Frieda McFadden this book is for you! Thanks NetGalley for the arc of this one was not disappointed!!!!

A binge-worthy psychological thriller packed with jaw-dropping twists and two unforgettable women at its core. The Double Wife is one of those addictive reads (or listens) that keeps you guessing until the very last page.

When Elizabeth Bentley’s husband, Don, vanishes on the night of their anniversary, suspicion immediately falls on her. But there are two complications: no body… and Don isn’t just Elizabeth’s husband—he’s also married to Corinne, a con artist with her own messy history with Don.

Elizabeth lives a life of polished perfection and privilege, while Corinne’s existence is far more modest and gritty. These two women, worlds apart, are forced to join forces to uncover the truth about the man they both thought they knew. What follows is a tightly woven mystery full of tension, deception, and revelations you won’t see coming.

Tegan Ashton Cohan’s narration in the audiobook is stellar—she gives each woman a clear, distinct voice, making the dual perspectives easy to follow and completely immersive. Her performance brings both Elizabeth and Corinne to life, capturing their personalities, flaws, and emotional arcs with precision. Honestly, if I could’ve listened to it all in one sitting, I would have!

While the ending didn’t completely land for me, the ride was thrilling enough to still earn a solid four stars. It’s the kind of twisty story that lingers after the final chapter, leaving you with questions—and maybe even hoping for a sequel or extended epilogue.

If you love character-driven thrillers with smart plotting and suspense that builds page by page, The Double Wife should be on your radar.

3.5 stars

On the eve of his wedding anniversary, Don Bentley disappears. Then his wife, Elizabeth, discovers he’s been keeping secrets. Big ones. Like the fact that she’s not his only wife. Enter Corinne, wife number two.

The story is told from both Elizabeth’s and Corinne’s perspectives, and I enjoyed getting a peek into their very different lives with the same man.

It’s a well-written book, and I found it genuinely enjoyable. The audio narration was also really well done. The way the story unfolded wasn’t at all what I expected, in a good way. It surprised me, in the best possible sense.

That said, the ending didn’t quite wow me, which is why I didn’t rate the book higher. Still, a solid and entertaining read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media Audio for the ALC.
