I loved this book! Rebecca Zanetti nailed it again (and now her brain comes up with these complex plots, I cannot fathom). You Can Scream, book five in the Laurel Snow Thrillers series, continues the mix of mystery, suspense, and romance we’ve come to expect. I was once again blown away by the unexpected twists and turns and how Ms. Zanetti wraps it all up at the end.
FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow and her team investigate a series of seemingly unrelated events in conjunction with her boyfriend, Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers. Laurel’s half sister and fellow genius Abigail Caine inserts herself into Laurel’s life and manipulates many of the people and situations around them. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I will just say that you will be pulled in by the characters and remain engaged by the plot. If you like reading about love, you will enjoy Laurel and Huck’s evolving relationship, and the romance developing between some of the secondary characters.
I highly recommend reading the first four books in the series before this one as it builds upon things that happened in previous ones, and they’re all great books

I really always look forward to the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. I love all the thrills and the chilling mysteries. The dynamic between Laurel and Huck, her partner in work and in life, really gives me all the emotional feels. And Laurel‘s relationship with her sister gives me the creeps. I got all of the twists and turns and all of the complex emotions!

The Laurel Snow series is my absolute favorite romantic suspense series! Even though Laurel's brain is totally analytical, logical and fact based her love and loyalty to her friends and family radiate from inside. Huck is the perfect match for her even though they are opposites in some ways. His unconditional devotion grounds her as they deal with the evil that surrounds them. I'd love for this series to move to the big or small screen. I see Bryce Dallas Howard as Laurel and Jessica Chastain as her diabolical sister Abigail. A not to be missed series!

I won’t lie, this is my first foray into this series but I loved it. I’m sure it would benefit me to read the other books, but honestly, it’s written in such a way that it’s easy to dive in blindly to this world.

I am loving this series. I enjoy reading about Laurel and Hank and they work on their relationship and solve crimes most of which involve Laurel’s half sister. You definitely need to read this series in order so you know the background of what has already happened. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Listen… Rebecca Zanetti does not play when it comes to murder, mayhem, and making you clutch your Kindle like it’s holy water. You Can Scream is dark, twisty, and keeps you guessing who the real monster is—because everyone’s looking a little guilty. It’s got the grit, the suspense, and just enough “omg no way” moments to make you lose sleep. Consider this your new obsession if you like thrillers that bite back.

I really always look forward to the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. I love the emotional depth, the thrills and the chilling mysteries. The dynamic between Laurel and Huck, her partner in work and in life, really gives me all the emotional feels. And Laurel‘s relationship with her sister gives me all the deep chills. This book was a delight. I got all of the twists and turns and all of the complex emotions! Loved it! Thank you, NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow!!! I am at a loss for words. I did not see that twist coming. Rebecca Zanetti's Laurel Snow books are fast-paced with lots of twists and turns. You Can Scream did not disappoint. I love the interaction between Laurel and Huck, as well as the tension between Laurel and her sister Abigail. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, a plot twist out of nowhere left me awestruck. I think You Can Scream is the best Laurel Snow book so far. I'm eager to see what surprises and twists the next book in the series holds. I was provided with an Arc copy for an honest review. Thank you to Kensington Publishing, Rebecca Zanetti, and Netgalley. #YouCanScream #NetGalley.

Thank you Kensington Publishing and Rebecca Zanetti for the ARC! Rebecca has done it again and wrote another gripping Laurel Snow adventure with all of the twist and turns. Huck and Laurel get better with each book! Abigail is Abigail and I just really don’t like her. I love this series so much and this book was amazing! I love all of the detail and emotion in this book and not knowing which way the ending will go.

This books was quite an intense ride. The story kicks off in media res, with several cases unfolding at once. At first, it was a little overwhelming—the number of plotlines and the large cast of characters sometimes left me confused. But the way everything eventually interconnects was smartly done, and the resolutions were both satisfying and surprisingly clever.
What really stood out to me wasn’t so much the thriller itself, but the characters—especially Abigail and her sister Lauren. Their personalities are brilliantly drawn: one colder, more psychopathic, the other rational and grounded. That contrast gave the story layers I really enjoyed.
On top of that, there’s also a strong romantic thread woven into the plot. In fact, some of the spicy moments, particularly at the beginning, definitely add intensity and make the romance feel like an important part of the book rather than just a subplot.

Laurel is attending the beginning of Abigail’s trial for murdering their father. Upon leaving the courthouse, a shot is fired. Now everyone is trying to figure out who would be shooting at Abigail. The only problem is that she’s not the only one the mystery shooter could have been aiming at. During the investigation more secrets will be unveiled, and keep you guessing until the end.

Love love love these characters and their uniqueness.
This was a veritable rollercoaster of suspense. Fast paced and full of little twists along the way. This will keep you reading as fast as you can until the last page. A wild terrifying plot and a team of some amazing players trying to thwart it. A great read!

Laurels sister Abigail is on trial for murdering their father. Abigail tries to stay close to Laurel and have her testify for her.. A sniper shoots at Abigail and puts Laurel and her staff in danger. The investigation turns personal for Walter as the sniper keeps them all in their sights. Very suspenseful and mysterious. Keeps you guessing as you are compelled to turn pages.

You Can Scream
By: Rebecca Zanetti
I am a fan. I am a fan if Rebecca Zanetti’s books and I am a fan of the Laurel Snow series.
This book picks up just a month after the extremely eventful last book ended, at Abigail’s bail hearing. YES, Abigail is a factor (out on bail…not a SPOILER as it happens in first chapter). YES, she is still scary wicked. YES, Huck’s ex, the podcaster, is annoyingly still around. YES, Huck and Laurel are still a couple.
Great book! Be prepared to fall down a few rabbit holes. I can honestly say I didn’t figure out who the ultimate bad guy was. I will probably re-read to see what clues I missed that pointed to it.
Looking forward to the next one, whenever it will be. I REALLY want Abigail to finally get the comeuppance she deserves!
Five Stars ⭐️

SYNOPSIS
Laurel’s family dynamic has never been simple—but her half-sister Abigail, a brilliant and unpredictable psychopath, has made it lethal. Accused of murdering their father—a man she always called a monster—Abigail insists it was self-defense. As the trial unfolds and long-buried family secrets explode into headlines across Washington State, Laurel’s efforts to keep her distance from her obsessive half-sibling collapse—along with her privacy and professional objectivity.
Even as Abigail’s trial dominates public attention, a new danger hits closer to home. Laurel turns to Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers—her partner in work and life—for help. But the deeper they dig, the more the case echoes the chaos unraveling in Laurel’s personal world.
The clock is ticking—and if the threat breaks loose, nothing will be fast enough to stop it.
THOUGHTS
You Can Scream by Rebecca Zanetti is another strong entry in the Laurel Snow series. This installment weaves together intersecting mysteries while carrying forward the gripping storyline of Abigail’s murder trial. In many ways, Abigail overshadows Laurel—fascinating, though far less likeable. Zanetti has a trademark style of writing brilliant women, and she never skimps on intelligence as a defining trait. At the same time, she doesn’t entirely avoid the beauty-in-distress trope, even with a heroine who’s both an accomplished profiler and a skilled FBI agent.
Huck’s protectiveness balances Laurel’s vulnerability, and their romance—equal parts fiery passion and tentative discovery—remains solidly entertaining.
The mystery takes a little longer to find its rhythm compared to earlier books, but once it clicks, the pace keeps you turning pages. What begins with the apparent suicide of an acquaintance of Kate’s teenage daughter quickly escalates into the murder of a prominent scientist and the illegal poaching of a rare Pacific plant—all tied to Viv’s internship. Adding to the danger, a sniper targets both sisters, striking Abigail as she leaves the courthouse and later shooting Laurel in her office. But who is the real target—and why?
Zanetti also continues to flesh out the wider cast, FBI agent Walter Smudgeon and Huck’s ex-fiancée, reporter Rachel Raprenzi. These layers give the Valley setting more depth and make the world around Laurel and Huck feel increasingly vivid.
FINAL VERDICT
A solid edition to the Laurel Snow/Huck Rivers series. No fireworks but a nice steady burn.

You Can Scream by Rebecca Zanetti is a wild ride from start to finish! Every twist and turn kept me on the edge of my seat, constantly guessing what was going to happen next. Zanetti masterfully blends suspense and tension, making it impossible to put the book down. If you love thrillers that keep you hooked until the very last page, this one is a must-read.

This was an intense and addictive read that grabbed me right away. The pacing was fast but never rushed, and the story kept building tension in a way that made it impossible to step away. The characters felt layered and believable, and I loved how every chapter added another piece that pulled me deeper into the suspense. It’s gripping, chilling, and exactly the kind of thriller that keeps you up late turning pages.

I love Zanetti's Laurel Snow series! This is book 5, I recommend reading them in order, besides understanding the characters, it will make you crave the next book. In "You Can Scream" it moves forward from the previous You Can Kill, a sniper shoots, hitting Laurels psychopathic half sister. But then more shooting happens and it's unknown who the actual target is and why. Zanetti writes so well that you will feel you know the characters. She always keeps invested and guessing till the end.

Reading You Can Scream feels less like enjoying a horror novel and more like slowly sinking into someone else’s nightmare — the kind that doesn’t rely on jump-scares or ghosts, but on the sort of fears we usually keep buried deep inside.
What makes this book work is how ordinary everything feels at first. The story doesn’t rush. It takes time to show us the main character’s daily life, their thoughts, their quiet regrets… and that’s exactly why everything feels so unsettling when things start to slip. Instead of monsters, the real threat comes from their own mind — memories, guilt, loneliness — and the line between reality and imagination becomes thinner and thinner.
The writing is simple but very visual. Even short, fragmented sentences actually help the atmosphere. In some chapters, you feel as if you’re inside the character’s head — confused, scared, unsure of what’s real. It can be disorienting, yes, but it’s clearly intentional and it really builds the tension.
This isn’t a book for someone who wants fast pacing or a clean ending. It doesn’t explain everything or wrap the story up nicely. It’s more like a psychological descent — quiet, honest, unsettling, and strangely beautiful in its own way.
In short:
You Can Scream isn’t just a horror story. It’s a painful, intimate look at how fragile the human mind can be. It stays with you — not because of what happens, but because of how it feels.

This series! I just love everything about it! I will say I’m ready for us to truly handle Abigail. She’s gotten away with too much and Laurel is smart enough to outsmart her! I want her gone next book LOL!
