Overall I enjoyed this one but had a little tough time following. The way the story switches more than halfway through where some parts were about the story the gal was writing but others were in her real life made it hard to follow. I think there was a big twist at the end but I didn’t catch it.

Three families on one street told by members of each family's point of view, I didn't catch on to that at first but then you start to really get to know these families and their secrets and you keep wanting to know what's going to happen next with each one of them. My emotions went wild, there are some that you totally can't stand, there are those that make you angry and those that you feel kind of sorry for and sometimes you feel all of the above for all of them. It's a twisty whodunit, you think it may be one then you think it may be another and I wasn't surprised at who it was but getting there was quite the experience.
It's a tale of love, it's a tale of relationships, it's a tale of heartache, it's a tale of secrets, it's a tale of murder and you will enjoy reading it.

I always love a good mystery and Nora Murphy knew how to do that exactly! It was phenomenal! I loved every part of it!

I really really wanted to like this. As a thriller I expected at 44% for it to really grip me but it didn’t. There’s a lot of itty-bitty tiny details that I feel are not important and make the story drag at some parts. Things like, “she tosses her dirty clothes into the hamper. It’s full now so she empties it into the washer.” I don’t need to know that as the reader.
There’s also two story lines that don’t seem to fit together and feel very random. It’s confusing and kind of curbs the enjoyment I could be having while reading. Maybe consider chapter headers that tell me if we’re going back in time, going forward in time or have the person‘s name of the POV I’m reading.

This book was incredibly entertaining!
The plethora of characters at the very beginning was a little overwhelming but it evened out soon enough and was enjoyable.
The twists in the storyline were great and definitely kept me interested! Definitely recommend!

This book follows multiple POV from three different storylines that come together in a thrilling twist that took me by surprise. A great book for mystery lovers!

This novel hooked me right away with its unsettling atmosphere. I was drawn into the lives of three very different households, each hiding secrets and shadows of their own. At first I had no idea how they could possibly connect, but the slow burn tension kept me turning the pages. When the connections finally revealed themselves, the impact was unforgettable.
Murphy's writing made me feel everything from suspicion to empathy, sometimes within the same chapter! That emotional pull is what elevated this thriller beyond a typical neighborhood crime story. By the end, the pieces locked together in a way that was both satisfying and chilling. It is a completely creepy story but the twists elevate it to amazing!

A fast paced domestic mystery thriller.
I was pulled in from the start and didn’t want to put this one down. I was intrigued to see how these three families were connected, in this quiet suburban neighborhood. The new couple that doesn’t quite fit in, the old neighbors, whose son has moved back home and is facilitated by the new neighbors, and the widow who is getting ready to sell her house and leave her haunted past behind.
A layered story of depth and emotion, although somewhat predictable, I loved the ending.

Ours Is a Tale of Murder is a story within a story with a plot twist that came out of nowhere and bothered me as a reader. I’ve read a number of reviews from other readers who loved this surprise, but I didn’t like it so much. For thriller lovers, there are still plenty of creepy, ick, and twisty parts of the book that I think you will enjoy, but, for me, this book did not meet the hype around it.

I was reading this book as my lunch break book on my kindle app on my phone and it did not disappoint. When I got to the twist I was like wait what just happened?! And THAT ending!

What a fascinating journey this story takes! Initially, it unfolds at a leisurely pace, but "Ours is a Tale of Murder" soon reveals layers of unsettling intrigue that kept me eagerly anticipating what would happen next. The dynamics between Klara and Troy are truly astonishing. Henry clearly grapples with his own challenges, while Mary harbors a secret—or perhaps it’s not so much a secret, but rather an unconventional household. Eventually, all these neighbors find themselves in conflict! This is definitely a story worth reading!

Ours Is a Tale of Murder by Nora Murphy is an intricately woven, unputdownable thriller that completely blindsided me and in the best way possible.
From the very first chapter, Murphy had me invested in these characters. What I loved most was how strongly she made me feel about so many different people. I felt love, frustration, suspicion, even empathy for some characters in this book. The story moves between three households, and for about 70% of the book, I couldn’t figure out how these seemingly separate lives would intersect. And then—wow. The way Murphy pulled every thread together in the end was nothing short of masterful. It all tied up in a neat, chilling bow that still has me thinking about it.
And let’s talk about that twist. I did not see it coming. When I say my jaw hit the floor, I mean it’s been a long time since a book has truly caught me off guard like this.
With clever pacing, layered characters, and a twisty plot that will keep you guessing until the final reveal, Ours Is a Tale of Murder is one I would recommend to any mystery or thriller fan. Nora Murphy has firmly secured a spot on my must-read author list.
Highly recommend.

I love a book that grabs me and I just don’t want to put down.
Thrillers are definitely my favourite genre.
I don’t always love multiple POV’s and this book was just missing something for me.

4 stars
Three families living in one neighborhood all connected by murder and dirty deeds. Plenty of twists I didn't see coming. Enjoyable thriller that keeps you guessing.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC of this novel!
This novel takes you across several story lines that are all interwoven as they live in the same neighbourhood. The novel provides several twists that have you questioning your assumptions of the people and their stories.
I found this novel to be unique in its interwoven format and the content itself was engaging - I kept finding a spare minute here and there to read just a little more. This was my first Nova Murphy novel, but it most certainly won’t be my last! I recommend this book to anyone into psychological thrillers and mystery.

I was bored but kept reading to find out when something would happen. At about 65% through, the book turns into a completely different book, and it seemed like the author was trying to be clever, with a book about a book. A very slow burn with little reward but I liked the ending. The writing was removed and distant, but it became clear that might have been intentional, given what was going on with one of the main characters. If you like really slow books with many characters that build to a satisfying ending, this book might be for you.

good mystery of murder in a neighborhood. it starts as a story of a couple and there are issues in the marriage and he ends dying. But the story goes to the present and neighbors stalking each other and the writers husband ends dying and its close to the book. Great story

-Ours Is A Tale Of Murder-
Great thriller with multiple POVS & twisted secrets. Literally when you think it can’t get more wild it does.
I appreciated the short chapters, page turners, and build up.

When I saw this book by this author I was quick to request a copy. Having quite enjoyed a previous book I've read from this author.
While the story itself did have a twist I didn't see coming and the ending wrapped things up well I couldn't get past the POV through out the first parts of the book. It made it somewhat hard to try to piece how everyone fit together in the story puzzle.
While I'm not saying this was a horrible book I do wish there were minor changes to the storytelling aspect and for that I'm giving this a 3.5 star rating.

Keeping this review spoiler free so forgive me for being vague- “Ours is a Tale of Murder” has one surprising twist in it- and it’s not even at the end of the book.
The story follows 3 plots:
First you have Klara being romanced by Troy who has a plan to make Klara his and have the family he always wanted in record time.
Second you have Mary, an older mother cleaning out her home filled with painful memories of an abusive marriage and a child she never got to see grow up the way she should.
And then you have Henry, a guy forced to move home after being let go from his job with a major chip on his shoulder that he blames on basically every woman in the world. He’s got a bad habit of giving unwanted attention to women and now he has his sights set on a wife in the neighborhood.
Some of these people are terrible, some are trying to get by, and as the title says- some are murdered.
All in all this is another win for Nora Murphy whose previous books are also fabulous. I particularly enjoyed the midway twist and how the dynamics of family loyalty play throughout the story.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
