I absolutely loved reading Little Pieces of Light. Emma Scott always writes incredible and emotional romance stories and this one is no different.

This story is told via both Xander and Emery’s POVs, and I love that we get both characters' thoughts and feelings. This narrative starts when they first meet at the age of ten and the journey that the author takes Xander and Em on is quite something. I would have read this story in one sitting if real life had allowed it. I needed to know what was going to happen to both protagonists who each faced difficult yet completely different situations – obstacles that were not easy for either of them to overcome.

Not only did this author give her readers Xander and Em, but some of the most incredible supporting characters too. I can’t not mention Dean and Harper who I absolutely adore. You’ll understand why when you meet them.

The detail that went into writing Little Pieces of Light is exceptional. I found not only Xander’s findings and thought processes to be intriguing but everything that Emery goes through too. This storyline makes an enthralling read, yet it is the characters who are the true stars of this show.

It has been a while since I read a book written by Emma Scott and I’m now sitting here wondering why. I know that I’ll be catching up on what I have missed in the very near future.

Little Pieces of Light is stunning. It's remarkable. And it's the kind of book that brought me to tears, and tore at my heartstrings in only the way this talented author can manage to do. Once again, it's an honor to be able to read Emma Scott's beautiful words and get lost in her exquisite style of storytelling. With this tale of two souls who complete one another and who are forever entangled, but can't always find their way to one another, I was enthralled from those very first words and didn't want to stop reading until I knew things would ultimately work out. I mean, they had to. Trust me when I say that Emery Wallace and Xander Ford were meant to be. And that's not something I say flippantly. These two are the very definition of soulmates and I was determined to see their journey through, no matter how difficult or painful it might get. And it does. Many times over. But the glimmers of hope, together with those little pieces of light, kept me glued to my e-reader, devouring every wonderful word happily. Because I knew Scott would put us through the proverbial wringer, eventually rewarding us with a love that only she can create. And thankfully, I wasn't proven wrong.

The path to any sort of happiness for Emery Wallace and Xander Ford was truly an uphill climb. Outside forces, and not necessarily the kind Xander loved to study with his brilliant physicist mind, seemed to throw obstacle upon obstacle in their decidedly difficult paths. And it broke me more than once that they couldn't find their rhythm even when theirs was the only one they could feel. From that very first moment sitting on a rock as two 10-year-olds who both had their worlds upended on the very same day, they somehow knew this random meeting would mean much more than even they could have fathomed. And although it takes another 7 years before their worlds collide again, you could sense how Emery and Xander simply saw one another even when it was hard or forbidden to do so. It's like the world ceased around them when the other was near and eventually this connection would prove to be the catalyst to all they endured in this story.

I hesitate to go into too much detail because this is a book one must experience for themselves. The underlying romance is truly at the heart of the story. However, the hoops both Emery and Xander have to go through as their lives become more and more intertwined are ones that cause immense sadness and great frustration for themselves and those around them. But it's Emery's light that Xander can't get enough of. His existence relies on science, but I loved how he soon accepted Emery's take on things, seeing the world in a whole other way. His struggles with trusting love kept him guarded, but I was so thankful that Emery never gave up on Xander, even when her despicable father tried his hardest to keep her under his control.

There are a myriad of family issues on both the Wallace and Ford sides, which, although very different in nature, still cause much pain and anger that have Emery and Xander feeling as if they are losing control of what they want. I was in such awe of these two, however, as they battle these family dynamics, sometimes losing their way, but always finding that they are stronger and better together.

There are very memorable secondary characters who step up when needed and provide safe spaces when things go wrong. And plenty does go awry, but these friends and key family members are the perfect antidote to the turmoil Xander and Emery have to deal with almost daily. I found myself truly loving these incredible friends they were blessed with, who not only encouraged their pairing but helped guide them when things got hard. Sure, the stoic scientist and the future designer may have looked a bit odd on paper, but the love they get from Dean, Harper, Orion and Delilah only strengthened their bond.

I'm still reeling from just how much this book affected me. My emotions are still all over the place, but my heart continues to be full. And it's because Emma Scott crafts her stories with her own special brand of magic. She is always respectful to her characters, her audience and her attention to detail is unmatched. Each book of hers is unique and is always memorable. And she always manages to offer up lighter moments that are sweet and heartfelt and that keep her couples on the road to forever. You may have to go through a ton of angst along the way, but to say it's worth it is truly an understatement.

With Little Pieces of Light, I'm convinced this is Emma Scott's best work to date and to be able to lose myself in her words is something I am forever grateful for. You need to read this book. It will destroy you in only the way this talented wordsmith can and you'll be more than glad she did. I know I am.

5++++++ HUGE stars!

Easy five stars. Though on sidenote this is more an NA book than YA book.

I have said this earlier, but I love the way Emma Scott writes. I love how she brings the characters to life. Her storytelling is amazing.

Xander and Emery meet when they're 10 years old and feel connected immediately. Seven years later they meet again and they still feel the connection, but life isn't so easy and there are things trying to keep them apart.

I loved the main characters connection. I liked the side characters. I don't know much about physics, but I loved Xanders passion towards it. I liked how Xander explained himself to Emery and how Emery seemed to make sense in his life.

I wish I could express my feelings in Finnish, because it would be easier. But I'll try to do this in English. The way Emma Scott made these characters brought so much Joy and heartache. I believe that the book is good, when it makes you think. This book made me think a whole lot of things; about universe, how we see each other and the world around us. What it takes to pursue your dreams even when it's scary.

I hope that everyone sees the good around them. Even the small things. I also like to believe that there's always light among the darkness. It feels wrong to if there's not.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
