This was my first Little Mermaid inspired retelling and I have to say I was definitely intrigued and sucked into the world right away! I also enjoyed the changes that the author made to the story to make it her own.

Siren Princess Eliana seeks revenge on the Human Sea Hunters who are attacking her people. William, a Sea Hunter, would do anything to protect his family, especially from the Sirens. But when there’s a greater evil at play, can they come together, and perhaps find love along the way?

***Enemies to lovers
***New adult
***Strong family dynamics
***Dual POV

Lots of adventure, suspense and action in this one! I really loved the sibling relationships between Eliana and Elara and Will and Aiden. All and all, this was a fun fantasy read, and I will definitely check out future novels by the author.

Thank you to Midnight Tide Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.

This is an awesome book. I love it. This is like a 6 star/5 stars read because I like the main characters. I was so interesting in Sirens and this was a perfect for me to read. I want to say a big thank you for the author for letting me read this book.

This book unfortunately was a DNF for me at 36% here is what I enjoyed and why I stopped reading:

What I enjoyed:
-Ocean environment
-Enemies to lovers vibes
-Fantasy, promise and retellings
-Easy writing style to follow
-Some moments were really cute
-The pacing in the beginning was indulging and made me want to keep reading
-Cool cover
-I am a lover of retellings
-Grateful for the content warnings and tropes!

What I wanted:
-More scenes happening underwater that included more scenery descriptions because I am a really big fan of the ocean and I feel like this would’ve added to the book. I was craving less dialogue underwater and a lot more understanding of what this home environment looks like. It seemed to go straight into her being a student.
-There was that was missing from this book and I can’t put my finger on it, but I wanted something more.

Why I stopped reading:
-The main character calls her father daddy one too many times and she does call him daddy in a genuine way, but it was just too much for me.
-The writing style did not seem consistent to me from dialogue from character to character. I know that there was some statement about this where the main character was trying to learn “land” language versus “ocean” language, and trying to be up-to-date with modern language, but there would be moments where her inner dialogue would match modern language etc; that doesn’t make any sense to me so it seemed like there was a lot of inconsistencies with the language used.

Please know I am ridiculously picky when it comes to fantasy in romantic retellings so if this sounds like it’s something you’d be interested in, do not let my review stop you from picking up this book.

I’m really picky and I did enjoy the portion that I’ve read - there was just too many things that added up to me that made me feel like this was becoming a forced read which can lead to book burnout for me.

Thank you for the ARC approval. I appreciate the opportunity to leave honest feedback voluntarily.
