3.5 stars 🌟 This one was short, quirky, and honestly kind of adorable. It read more middle grade than YA, but the spunky, sarcastic narration kept me laughing—even when the main character (a college student) was acting like a total teenage brat.

The Balkan wedding adventure was chaotic, and if I’d been on that trip, I probably would’ve lost my mind too. But the cultural moments, awkward family dynamics, and ridiculous mishaps made it super entertaining.

And the ending? Surprisingly sweet and heartwarming—wrapped things up in a way that made the whole ride worth it. A fun, fast read that had me smiling by the last page!

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. What should’ve taken me 3 days max took me 5 because I just couldn’t really get into it.

The comedy didn’t really hit the way I wanted. There were some funny moments here and there but not enough to enjoy myself.

I didn’t really vibe with the main character although one positive thing I can say about her was i did somewhat enjoy her journey of self reflection.

With that being said though I was a bit disappointed in the book overall I wouldn’t say it’s bad. It just didn’t do it for me and I do feel it would be better suited on the big screen.

2.5/5

My Stepbrother's Wedding by A. W. Morisseau is a fast-paced funny story. Wini reluctantly agrees to go for her stepbrother's wedding in an obscure European country, only for practically everything to go wrong right from the journey to the country. It started with a bang but lost me somewhere in the middle. Overall, it was quick, light read.
