Wow, what a unique collection of short stories! I don't think I've read anything remotely close to this. I loved it. My favorite was 'Spectrum' and also 'Archival Loss'. They both resonated with me in some way. But the creativity in each short story blew me away. It was such an enjoyable experience and a quick read. Couldn't wait to start each new story.

I really enjoyed this as a collection of short stories and enjoyed the overall feel of this book in the scifi genre. The overall collection was so well written and worked with what I was hoping for. Each story was unique and worked in the genre and had that writing style that I enjoyed from Kim Choyeop.

“-the human brain was a universe in itself,”
This was one of the most original works I have read in a while. Choyeop’s writing style is filled to the brim with information but in a way that’s easy to digest. Though each story was short, they were thought through and felt whole. The characters were realistic and brought to life on page with minimal time spent with them and their experiences. Each story developed so differently but they all held the same human experiences and emotions of day to day life even in extreme futuristic situations. As the reader we stilled lived through love, loss, regret, and understanding with these characters.
I loved the way it felt real.
Such a unique and refreshing voice to read! My favorites from the collection were Symbiosis Theory, such a great way to start off this novel, Spectrum, The Materiality of Emotions, and Archival Loss. They will stay with me for a long time
❤️ Can’t wait to see more from Kim Choyeop!

Wow wow wow! I’ve heard tales of short story collections filled only with amazing pieces, and this work shows that that can be true. Every story here was uniquely crafted, and so in depth. I felt transported to each world and wanted to know more and more about what’s going on. I think this is a very speculative piece of sci-fi, but also a beautiful one. From commentary on familial relationships, to the human spirit, to how to find happiness this work has it all. Thank you so much to the publisher for the advanced copy, can’t wait for others to read this.

Thank you so much for the ARC! I am not a huge sci-fi fan but this crossover between literary fiction and sci-fi is brilliant. What a thoughtful and poignant collection of stories that reflect not only on space travel and scientific advancements, but life and death, relationships, and emotions. I was struck multiple times by strong emotion and found myself questioning my own thoughts and feelings on so many of the questions and topics presented in the book. I connected to some stories more than others, hence I am giving it four stars, but I strongly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thought provoking fiction.

4 stars. Very good collection of sci-fi short stories. I love this different take on the genre. As stated in the intro, korean sci-fi just hits different and it was a pleasure to read. I look forward to exploring more asian sci-fi writers.
