An absolute stunning thriller, well crafted with an array of intriguing characters that insist you must continue reading.
As chilling as it is terrifyingly real, it builds to a crescendo that causes you to hold your breath without even realise that you are doing so.
Highly recommended and well deserving of five stars.

I struggled with this. I can't quite pinpoint why though.
I felt the beginning was really slow, the whole reality show bit was an added point that I didn't really care about. I didn't feel very connected to the main character.
I liked the idea of this as I loved Gone Girl and I thought this would be more like that than it actually was.
Once we got past 40% it picked up and it got a bit more interesting but I still felt something was missing. I did spend the whole time hoping maybe she was an unreliable narrator. But in all honesty it was quite obvious that the husband was the one lying - this is laid out in the blurb. I feel this would have been more interesting if we had that extra suspense of not knowing what was true, or a huge misdirect like in Gone Girl.
I did like the premise of the book though. The impact of the fertility treatments, and can you really trust your husband. I didn't suspect the twist. And, as a mother, the whole book made me want to hold my little one tighter.
The narrators were ok, they did a good job but I didn't gel with their voices so much as I usually do with narrators. The southern accent was different to what I'm used to listening to so I didn't fully sink in to the story like I had hoped I would.
Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this advanced audiobook though.

Thanks to @netgalley and @bolindaaudio for this book.
The pre release reviews on Goodreads for this book were not that promising, but I like to judge a book for myself. It was a bit of a wild ride to be honest, Celeb couple Dawn & Wyatt, who run a tv show, he does the building, she does the decor. He's a literal psychopath, and her
'friends' are not her friends. She just wants to keep her twin babies safe, from the despicable plans he has for them. I actually enjoyed this book. He was a textbook narcissist but she (dawn) knew how to play him at his own game.
Even with the public, fans and everyone being on his side. 4 stars

Drama-filled, suspenseful domestic thriller, set amongst a home renovation TV show "The Perfect Home" with Dawn and Wyatt Decker.
I enjoyed the dual-POV, as it offered insight into Dawn's desperation and Wyatt's twisted mentality. This story explores the lengths that a person can go to in order to protect their family.
I really enjoyed the original premise of this story and was captivated by the audiobook with is narrated well by Amanda Stribling and Michael Crouch.

This was my first read by this author and from the title and the cover image, I really wasn't sure what I was expecting.
I found the beginning intriguing - having renovated our own house and watched and loved The Property Brothers and many other home renovation shows, I did find this an interesting look at a bit of the behind the scenes of a show like this.
I still wasn't sure where this was heading though.
Suddenly the pace and tone changed completely and I knew that I was going to be in for a much darker read than I'd seen so far.
What was once the perfect partnership for the perfect show ...and life, turns into a battle to keep the children safe and those all important ratings high!
I really felt for Dawn as we could see what had been happening from both sides but this really showed how things can be perceived from the outside and how people's opinions can be swayed by the media.
From this point on, this was an exciting read that had me hooked and needing to get through the pages to find out how things would play out and which of the pair would come out on top - but more importantly, whether the twins would stay safe.
I really liked the writing style which was easy to read and kept me entertained throughout - even throwing in a few extra twists and turns along the way.
The dual pov chapters and different sections kept things moving forward well making me squeeze just a few extra chapters in each sitting.
The ending gave me a satisfying conclusion to Dawn and Wyatt's story.
I look forward to seeing more from this author in the future.
💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

You can build the what looks like the perfect home but if it is built on a rotten foundation, it will not last. This story deals well with how tv personas may not be the truth, how social media and how charisma can sway the public to whatever story someone wants to portray, even if evidence might prove otherwise. This was a scary read because you can feel the powerlessness of Dawn when the nightmare of Wyatt happens and how quickly she is labeled crazy when she goes on the run to protect her twins and I did have to take a break from listening because it does get pretty dark, especially in feeling how everything goes against Dawn and even friends believe Wyatt. And I felt for Dawn, as she is not a fan of being in the public eye, (which I can understand!) which definitely gave Wyatt the advantage in this story. There are not really any twists, just a straight up thrilling slide from the "perfect" life with a hit house reno tv show and trying for a child to complete the American dream to an absolute nightmare complete with illegal drugs, life on the run (thank goodness for a few people that have Dawn's back no matter what social media is spewing!) and a crazy showdown, climax where everything is on the line.
The narrators, Michael Crouch and Amanda Stribling, did a great job in bringing the sides of Dawn and Wyatt's battle to life and ramping up the tension and danger in this well done audiobook. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen to this harrowing tale!
