From one of America's most acclaimed chefs, a vision for changing the way we feed our children, starting with school lunches. Educators, parents, and policy makers will find inspiration here for creating a future where children eat healthy whole foods at school and at home.

Health conscious families that prefer to cook full meals for school lunches will find this cookbook to include many options. I was a bit overwhelmed by the ingredients and more adult palate-friendly foods. My kids want chicken nuggets and ham and cheese sandwiches. I try to offer healthy options by packing pasta or chili in a thermos, offering quesadillas, fresh fruit, vegetables, and granola for snacks. At times they do get burnt out, so a cookbook such as this could be helpful. However, I'm not sure who the audience would be. My kids won't eat most soups, much as I wish they would.
For me, a cookbook with kid-friendly pictures, and ideas that would inspire them to venture out of their comfort zone would be better suited for my kids and myself.
